You are right on all counts Gil! I feel Lee and JGP have value to some team but not without a sweetener or retaining salary. I guess we have to just wait for the draft to find out what Grandpa Lou Does

When ever I think of Engvall and his ludicrous contract and find myself banging my head on anything hard, so I try not to think about it because I am on my way to a concussion with Lou’s decision making regarding contracts.

Not ideal, but maybe Lou retains part of the high salary of someone in a trade? Also if he can get 1 or 2 proven PK specialists that could go a long way. I believe if PK had been even 25% better this past season and in the playoffs they would have been much more competitive & likely would’ve had more regular wins as opposed to OT losses.

Improving the PK is vital. Adding a good player on the PK doesn't have to be expensive. Penalty killers can be had at or near the league minimum. Retaining salary or throwing in a draft pick to a deal are ways to get another team to approve a trade for players with a bad contract. We'll see what Lou does. Thanks for the comment, Mike.

As always, great show Gil. Lee is an anchor nobody wants, we wouldn't want a 3rd liner, 40 point season, 7 million dollar forward, why should anyone else. Buy him out. JGP plus a 2nd rounder gets him off our books. Possibly Ana or SJ

I agree on Lee. I just don't know if Lou is willing to buy him out like he should. Lee has been a great Islander but he's not worth $7 million for sure at this stage of his career. I think bottom line, The NY Islanders need 2 or 3 big name, NHL elite talented players that are difference makers. I know I’ve mentioned this in the past, and yes let’s see what GM Lou Lamarillo does to get this Islander team, the much needed improvement to be better than just average. Look at The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers rosters, see the type of talented players they have, maybe The NY Islanders owners will be more committed to win a Stanley Cup than giving us Islanders fans a mid level team for last 3 or 4 years. All we hear are excuses and rebuilding since 1985.

It's been too long since this team was considered a legit contender for the Cup, let alone won one. I hope that changes soon. Not sure Lou can or will add those elite players you spoke of, but I sure would love to see it. Thanks for the comment, Robert and LGI.

we're all concerned about the Islander "prospect pool." Lets go back 5 years and take a look at some of those lists and see who's in the NHL who's all all star etc. and who's not. Last season wasn't a great season for the Islanders but MacLean was a great surprise. MacLean to me is a legitimate NHL player. at Bridgeport there could be a few more surprises-players no one talks about... who knows what the Islanders do will, they could move all three picks and go from 20 to 10 12 15- or keep on adding picks. the talent pool in this draft might be the same from 18-20 or from 10-30 so you move back add a 2... what's Lou going to do?? Gil, I don't think this all about what Lou wants to do. Lou is the GM but its also about what does Patrick Roy want/need on his team? what do the scouts say his pro scouts and amateur?, what deals are potentially out there, and how do they build next years team fix what's wrong and move forward? look at Vancouver-last year they where a basket case a complete mess-who thought they could rebound have a great regular season and win a playoff round?

I’m watching the playoffs and as I watch the oilers I start thinking wow here’s a team like the islanders that were nothing then get some GREAT picks and put it together and the islanders have been stuck in neutral since they lost the cup finals to them in 85. Granted a few teases here and there but that’s it. Kind of sad

Is it really ok to move back 2 spots in the first round and 4 spots in the second round for a pick that might as well be a an early 3 rd round pick? Since the Islanders draft team can’t draft good players in any round I think Lou will trade all the picks! Lol. Our prospect pool is horrible because the Islanders scouts are horrible! Louzer getting that extra pick to use in a salary dump deal. Rumour is sj has interest in 44-probably with salary retain. Also word is louzer may be looking at an eihlers deal. Possible first/26 deal is out there. Could be another reason to dump 44 or 27 before trading/draft moves begin. 29 had another fine 30 g season even with 18 doing nothing on his line. Would be a hot tdl rental option for some contender if isles are out of it next tdl. And i'll give you my mem cup update gil. Great tournament so far. Friday night top 10 pick parekh was player of the game with g 2 a as home team spirit won. Pen first round pick last june b. yeager had 2 g a for whl champ moose jaw. Sat. isle pick i. george was efficient as was his london knights who played just about a near perfect game shutting out q league champ. drummondville 4-0. Flyer first rounder last june o. bonk was player of the game with g a. Last night's game saw home team come back from down 2-0 to win 4-3 beating q league drummondville. '25 potential first pick m. misa was player of the game with 3 a including a on winning goal. Dude is sick with his ability to find open guys including a beauty set up on wild pick haight goal. Lots of future nhl talent at mem. cup led by london with 10 nhl picks on their roster including bonk, cowan, george, and top 10 pick dickinson and coached by scumbag/isle hated villain dale hunter.

Peewee's big trade. SMH... Lou has said in the past that in most drafts, he doesn't have much faith in picks beyond 12th. I guess in his mind he traded 2 fairly useless picks for 3 even more useless picks. Junk for junk. Fred Sanford would approve of this trade.

Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? It's going to be real interesting to 👀 what Lou Lamoriello's going to do with this trade he made on Fridaý. Whoever they get, I hope he'll fit into Patrick Roy's system. I hope he keeps it and drafts smartly. Lou Lamoriello has traded his 4 first round draft picks, and it's boomeranged on him in a way. Brock Nelson 32 years old, playing the best 🏒 of his career 34 goals minus 5. He's a great two way player, and will stay with Matthew Barzal and Bo Horvat. HAPPY 🎂, RICHARD PARK. Lee will be as movable as Ladd or Bailey, nobody is paying his salary via his production, I hear Mitch Marners name come up, dose he want to be a islander, do you trade sorokin and have him become the best goalie in the league for another team ? Now stop the talk about trading him, firm believer in trading Brock love him but his value at trade are much more productive moving forward towards younger players, thank you Gil !!!
