This is legitimately terrifying for two reasons. 1: A parent's nightmare coming to life. 2: The idea that you could have a seizure and function on autopilot with no actual awareness of your actions or surroundings.

I had diabetic (t1) seizuress in the night, woke up and played softball the next day. I was basically on autopilot the whole time and my memory is horrible now. I stutter and forget words all the time. I also forget what I am doing while in the middle of it a lot. My team made fun of me at first bc they thought I was joking with them, but I wasn't. Eventually my coach pulled me out and sent me home. I don't remember it but apparently I played extremely well (according to everyone there). I probably should have went to the hospital but my parents didn't take me. I was about 14 I think. It is scary to think about being active, but not really in control.

I was once in a fugue state for like 2 hours after having an asthma attack that triggered a panic attack. I "woke up" taking out the trash. When I went inside, I had turned on the TV, had my laptop open, and had been apparently talking to my roommate. She said I just seemed quiet and out of it. I've had that happen twice.

3 reasons actually... The third you ask? Simple... In reality (yes it’s a tv show I know) But consider how heavy those towels actually are, and how thick... in REALITY that baby...... would’ve either already suffocated by the time they found the child.... or on the verge of suffocating.... or worse... had been put through the cycles.....

If she is an epileptic, which is likely considering she has complex partial seizures, which can make you run on auto-pilot, the likely hood of her taking a baby is very unlikely, i am epileptic and suffer with complex partial seizures, convulsive seizures, absence seizures and photosentitive seizures and in all my 21 years of being epileptic i have never heard of a case or done anything like this. It just doesnt happen and to imply that it does causes a false stereotype. How many people have asked me 'do you get your kids taken off you for being epileptic?' Is unbelievable.
@Teskmehu

@@aliciaholder3759 I seriously doubt you have to worry about people stereotyping epileptics as baby thieves. Convulsive seizing is what like 100% of people think of when they hear the word epilepsy.

What House does is the opposite. He makes intuitive logic jumps with only parts of the facts and pieces them together in a way that makes sense, usually to no one but himself, and seems like a madman. What Cuddy did was notice an abnormality in hospital protocol and then noticed someone having a particular type of seizure that left them on auto pilot then traced back that person's normal path and noticed another abnormality in hospital protocol/daily operations. Her detective work came from having all the daily operations knowledge of the hospital from a position of leadership as the person who organizes and runs the hospital. No one thinks Cuddy is insane while EVERYONE thinks House is.

@firesoftheasylum7890

I have complex partial and secondary generalized (aka grand mal) seizures. During my complexes, I lose all awareness, I don't even run on "autopilot". Sometimes I'll have brief hallucinations, tap my fingers repetitively, and completely stop what I'm doing. Then I'm back to whatever was happening before, just a little more tired and brain fog. Shit sucks. I work in a medical/psych hospital, thankfully I've only had two full blown seizures, scary to think about what you could possibly do. Hopefully you're doing well with your treatment.

When my baby brother was born I told my mom we should return him to the hospital because he was too noisy and cried a lot. I love him to death now. What we do as children is not always an indicator of how we'll turn out as adults. There's a reason sociopathy and narcissism is not diagnosible before a child is 18. Basically all children and teens are mini sociopaths. Evolution made them that way because before surpluses of food, children who didn't demand attention and resources were often the first to die. And child mortality was very high up until the 1940s.

Baby snatching is remarkably easy in hospitals, so I'm not surprised a lot of mothers are on egde when they give birth in a hospital. Edit: also. I don't snatch babies, I've just worked in a lot of hospitals and maternity wards and I can promise you most nurses are not diligent and would not question if someone they had never seen before suddenly took a mothers baby. They'd probably chalk it up to something silly like "oh a relative is taking baby home etc". Not saying all nurses are like this, but a lot are considerbaly lazy and do not care for their patients.

What's weird is that I think that policy has evolved. I have four children. For the first three, they had a little of the attitude you mention. But for the 4th, at the same hospital, they insisted on keeping him in the room with us at all times. Not that I minded, by then I knew the drill with newborns. I sometimes joke that our youngest is the only one we know for sure is ours, since we know being switched at birth would've been impossible as he never left our sight in the hospital.

@Sai4651
@Sai4651 4 года назад
@@anthonyb9882 Not necessarily, spin it like this. A nurse was on duty and having a seizure, yet an entire hospital full of doctors failed to notice, plus there's a good chance she has a history of seizures (unless this was her first which is highly unlikely), meaning that's something the hospital must have considered before hiring her. Also, the fact that a doctor accused the families son before doing a better job of interviewing her own staff does not look good, assuming they have basic internal camera systems, they should have been able to determine that the seizure nurse went in that room twice, yet still couldn't figure it out.
@ghostboy463
@ghostboy463 4 года назад
@@Sai4651 Considering how Cuddy acted when she noticed this was an undiagnosed problem and she even states "She was acting normal but she's just running on auto pilot." It would've been noticed sooner but then the baby went missing so why stop and talk to the nurse who was just doing her nurse duties? The nurse wrapped the baby in the towels and put it into the cart so even with cameras they wouldn't be able to know if it was her because she was still doing her job. They could try to sue but it was out of their control so it would most likely fall through.
@Sai4651
@Sai4651 4 года назад
@@ghostboy463 Cuddy noticed something was wrong with her the moment she saw her, that means she didn't do a proper job at interrogating her own staff. And if I assume they have cameras, they should have noticed something was wrong when a nurse went in to that room twice, I think there's a case here to sue the hospital, the seizure may have been out of their control, but there were things in their control that contributed to this situation happening. There was a court case where a person had a seizure while driving and ended up killing a few people, that person was charged with manslaughter because they chose to drive knowing they could have a seizure. Even if this was the nurse's first seizure (which is unlikely) there was still negligence by Cuddy and the rest of the staff since they failed to notice.
