I thought about it, Silver wouldn't make tooo much sense if talking about the year of shadow, they'd probably mention that villain in the shadow the hedgehog game, but if talking about the actual generations Silver makes sense, at the beginning Shadow and Silver were the only ones who weren't in that birthday reunion, and this X Shadow part of the game occurs the same time as the generations timeline, so a bit of Silvers timeline would make sense as well!

If it takes place during Sonic’s story, then Rouge is already occupied there. That means Omega is the only team dark member available

Sonic 06 IS cannon it’s just that it wipes itself out and the fact the in japan in team sonic racing he remembers 06 so many have theorized that Sonic only remembers it so that explains why kingdom valley exists

It's not going to be one of the hedgehogs, the trailer specifically mentioned THREE hedgehogs, that being Modern Sonic, Classic Sonic and Shadow (therefore no chance of Silver, unless Modern and Classic are counted as one)

Either silver, or to keep up the theme with shadow, they could introduce eclipse into the series.

I haven’t heard anyone say movie shadow yet but if I had it place my bets that would be it. It says “coming soon” which means it could release at a similar time to promote the movie. I just don’t know why they’re putting a timer on when this secret 4th character is announced unless it has to line up with an additional release

I don't think it'll be another playable character and especially not Dreamcast Shadow. This is because Space Colony Ark Act 1 is a boost level and people datamined the Summer Games Fest trailer and discovered that Rail Canyon Act 2 was shown an that also had boost gameplay, so I personally think the coming soon thing is just for Mephiles to be revealed as a villain.

And I hope it’s silver because he’s the only other character that isn’t explained how he got caught into white world. If it was a team dark member it would be omega since rouge was in sonics sonic generations. I hope mephiles is a boss fight not a playable character because mephiles is a villain I don’t want him to turn good that wouldn’t make sense and Eggman aswell why would he help him. Infinite can’t be in it since sonic forces is after generations and shadow gens takes place at the same time as the original game. A Dreamcast shadow would be a great way to bring back the shadow who is motivated by Maria still. But I don’t think that’s likely imo. Anyway there’s no point in speculating ITS NO USE. I really hope it’s silver it better be silver

I think the 4th mysterious playable character could possibly be E123 omega because he wasn't in the original sonic generations.

WAIT. Ryan Drummond was asked to come back, and he said, "no" Or he was asked if was coming back for SxSG, and he said, "no?" Because if he has no interest in coming back to voice Sonic, that's pretty saddening for me.

I think Metal is the most likely candidate but it would be awesome if they used this opportunity to introduce Eclipse from the Archie comics as a main timeline character

3:58 frontiers had knuckles amy and tails all playable in the same style as sonic just with different attributes. 7:48 izuka already confirmed this takes place during the event of generations before forces.

One thing i do wish is that they bring david and ryan Drummond to voice sonic snd shadow.since the Sa1 skin is in it, they could get ryan to voice him, even if its just the game only areas. Samw thing with davis but with the terios skin, making him somewhat of a new/his own character.

You don't really have to make much new for Rouge - because the open world is based on Frontiers, and her mirror-match (Knuckles) was playable in Frontiers.

Since you mentioned her, why not Trip? She wasn't present in Sonic Generation so maybe they can explain she was working with Shadow somehow. Sometime ago Tails Tube confirmed that Sonic and friends remember what happened in Superstars.

I can’t fathom Mephiles being a playable character instead of a boss. I don’t see any of the robotniks being playable since Eggman is technically a boss since he controlled the time eater, and it said PLAYABLE characters. How would you PLAY as regular people? I don’t think infinite is a possible character since the whole game is about the past, and Infinite wasn’t around during that time. My money is one adventure Shadow, Metal Sonic or Silver. I hope it’s not adventure Shadow tho, since that would probably just be a riskinned Shadow, but without a boost.

sonic generations shows the past but also the future, if you are Modern Sonic you are seeing the past and if you are classic sonic you are seeing the future, so probably a shadow from the future that got the fully absorved into the black arms powers maybe able to become a monster like Black Doom becomes Devil Doom

If I have to be honest if it’s true that there will be a 4th playable character I would like it to be either 1. Mephiles 2. Silver 3. Infinite 4. Sage 5. Eclipse No one else

When have they ever said Sonic 06 isn't canon....? Just because it's bad doesn't mean it ain't canon unless we use the comics which is different from game canon than Silver shouldn't exist in the main series at all
