Here is what I would change: Sonic CD: level design Sonic 1: Level design Sonic 2: metropolis enemy placement Sonic 3: barrel of doom Sonic mania: more original zones Sonic Superstars: fix the music
This........ sounds about right honestly. Although for Superstars I'd probably change the Bosses personally. Since they all are annoyingly hard to beat even on repeat playthroughs in there current state.🫤🫤
For Sonic 3, also apply the Superstars issue here for Carnival Night and Launch Base since their instrumentation was poorly done (Ice Cap was fine imo, sounding very similar to the Prototype version). And make the Super theme literally not a bloody Sonic 4 song. Never let Jun Senoue cook with applying instrumentation in a "Genesis" style - leave someone else to do that while he just composes.
i mean the whole point of sonic cd is that it takes place on a alien planet but tbh i’d either get rid of the special stages or bring back the deleted zones
Sonic 1: Labyrinth zone level design Sonic 2: Metropolis zone enemy placements Sonic CD: Remove the special stages, or just allow them after getting all of the good futures Sonic 3 and knuckles: Carnival Night zone level design (especially act 2) Why? Labyrinth... you know why. Metropolis having act 3 is pretty annoying, I agree. But, I think the enemy placements are what people despice the most in metropolis. A lot of sonic fans don't understand how sonic cd works. They think the level design is confusing and so they ignore the generators and get the time stones. Forcing them to learn how to play this game correctly first is the only way to make them learn. I would even remove these special stages, but I know there are some people that actually like these. Carnival Night zone was never my favorite and I think it's bc of multiple issues I have with this zone. And nope, I am not talking about the barrel of doom. Once you learn how the barrel works, you realize it's actually a really fun gimmick. I would at the very least change the slow water sections in act 2.
Sonic 1: Now to access act 3 you need to collect an emerald in all previous acts. Sonic 2: Grass in Emerald Hill is thinner now. Sonic 3: Knuckles stages now have more giant rings S&K: Flying Battery now has water at the bottom of the level Knuckles Chaotix: Solo game, no tethers. Sonic CD: R2 full restoration Sonic Mania, Superstars: Games don’t exist now
Sonic the Hedgehog- Keep the later level designs consistent with a nice balance of both speed and platforming like Green Hill zone Sonic the Hedgehog 2-Get Rid of the Third act of Metropolis Zone Sonic 3 and Knuckles- Shorten the second act of Sandopolis with less frustrating gimmicks. Sonic Mania- Create more Original levels Sonic Superstars- Give Jun better instruments to work with for soundtrack instead of those Sonic 4 genesis snares. Rework some of the level designs. Fix the bosses to fit the single player mode. Sonic CD- make the time traveling less tedious and leave the future levels for act 3/bosses.
metropolis act 3 is a unused zone for sonic 2 called genocide city and fun fact the level shunks is used in sonic spinball in the level called the machine
Here's what I would change: Sonic 1: Alter level design of Marble and Labyrinth Sonic 2: Alter Metropolis enemy placement Sonic CD: Bring back Dubious Depths Sonic 3&K: Add Egg Gravitron to Knuckles' Carnival Night act 2 (It's not even a big deal it just annoys me for some reason) Sonic Mania: Playable Amy Sonic Superstars: Fix the bosses BONUS! Sonic 3D Blast: Make physics less weird BONUS 2: Electric Boogaloo! Knuckles Chaotix: Acknowledge its existence and actually make the classic Chaotix characters that exist currently (Not really an issue with the game, but whatever) BONUS 3 and Knuckles! Sonic Origins: Fix the music (Please!)
Sonic CD: I'd change how the final boss is impossible to do no damage as in order to hit you have to break one of it's pieces off... by getting hit once. Sonic 1: i change 1 thing and one thing only, I'd change how chaos emeralds are obtained, making them like the master system and game gear version where they are hidden in the zones themselves. Sonic 2: I'd remove tails from the special stages as sonic and tails. Sonic 3: I'd make sure knuckles intro actually played when when locked on to sonic and knuckles. Sonic and knuckles: in death egg zone I'd allow you to go out into space and introduce anti gravity platforming, to give the loop de loos and limited time platforms more purpose. Sonic mania: GIVE ANGEL ISLAND A PROPER REMIXED STAGE, SERIOUSLY IT'S A CRIME HOW THE MOST LOVE THAT STAGE GOT WAS A COPY PASTE and a _single_ new enemy you could miss in the water. Sonic superstars: FIX HOW LONG THE BOSSES ARE, OMG WHY DID THEY MAKE THEM SONIC RUSH LEVELS OF TEDIUM.
The things i’d change about the games are: Sonic 1: bring in spindash Sonic CD: nothing Sonic 2: nerf metropolis enemies Sonic 3 & Knuckles: remove the barrel of *DOOM* Sonic Mania: dk Sonic Superstars: make multiplayer not trash
Kinda into this idea. Not a big fan of the idea of removing zones or anything to make any of the games better, though, personally I would go with the idea of just changing the level layout a bit for Marble Zone and making Metropolis Act 3 its own separate one-act level in line with the ones that proceed it, akin to the mock-ups a lot of folks have made of the unused Cyber City concept or the reimplemented Hidden Palace. To be more specific with Marble Zone, I honestly don't think the Zone overall is that bad, but Act 1 in particular has the most sections that kill momentum without letting you potentially maintain it with proper use of skill, something Act 2 has a lot of and Act 3 has a bit of. Like, in Act 2 you can skip the block you have to push to cross the lava with built up momentum in the tight area you are in, but Act 1 makes it mandatory, and while that makes sense from a tutorial design perspective, they could have done better to make everything around it feel more active, stretch out the level so there's a bit more running between things. Things like the cylinders moving up and down could be spaced out in a way that you can build up speed and jump between each one back to back without stopping, which you can't do with how they're timed in the original. The biggest issue in pacing for the game and why people drop it so fast comes down to the poor transition to the tighter and more linear level design it was shooting for and Act 1 in particular is just kinda annoying for it compared to the other levels in the same Zone.
Eh the only thing I’d change for Sonic 1 is just to add the spindash because all the levels are pretty cool and also the barrel of doom? When I was younger it was easy af u can’t jump that doesn’t work you can’t go left or right so the only options are the buttons up and down it’s really not that hard to figure out t
Anyone else notice that Sonic Superstars is the only one on this list where he mentioned that he would want to change more than just ONE thing about the game? No, just me? Ok.😅
@@RoseSupreme Music, bosses, emerald powers, special stage difficulty, difficulty in general, making Amy more than just Sonic with a thunder shield, adding the elemental shields, the list goes on.
Fun Fact: Sonic Mania was supposed to have a full suite of original zones, but SEGA forced the team not to because they didnt think the game would do well
Sonic 3: Improved music for the Origins songs - don't have Senoue arrange them. Make them identical to their Prototype counterparts and make the Super theme actually sound straight out of Sonic 3, not Sonic 4. Superstars: Better level design and allowing us to rapidly hit the bosses like in previous games so they aren't dragged out for so damn long. And like with Sonic 3, fix Senoue's songs to be sounding consistent with the songs by the other composers for the game, especially Tee Lopes. Mania: Yeah, we can all agree more original zones would've been deeply appreciated, because everybody *LOVED* the original zones there.
Here's my ideas Sonic 1: adding the Sonic 1 Game Gear levels as bonus Sonic 2: same as Sonic 1 but the Sonic 2 MS levels would be like a prequel Sonic CD: having the US music as act 1 and JP as act 2 and the boss music depends on whether or not you got a good or bad future Sonic 3:[didn't play it yet] Sonic&Knuckles:[didn't play it yet] Sonic Chaos:[didn't play it yet] Sonic Triple Trouble: playable Knuckles or Super Sonic Sonic Blast:[didn't play it yet] Sonic 3D Blast flicky Island:same as Sonic CD Sonic Mania Plus:more zones or encore exclusive zones Sonic Superstars:more playable characters
Why limit yourself to just one change when you can make the best version possible. Triple Trouble 16-bit wouldn't be as good as it is if Copeland limited himself to just one change.
My changes: Sonic 1: I dunno, I don't really dislike that much of Sonic 1, it is the one that compared to the others is the weakest, but I don't dislike a thing about it, the "slow" zones like Marble Zone and Scrap Brain Zone, are just so smart, having secret and hidden ways of using your momentum and speed to get through places without being like Green Hill which makes it clear how to use your speed in loops, slopes and hills, Labyrinth Zone offers a good challenge and it is the first water zone, not having a water zone in the game would be weird even though the modern games don't have it Sonic CD: Surprisingly my second favorite Classic 2D game, but if I had, maybe a bit of the level design since I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea Sonic 2: Probably Metropolis Act 3 as well, it would be too much to fix the whole difficult spike which happens after Hill Top Zone and especially after Mystic Cave Zone Sonic 3 & Knuckles: I would do what Sonic Origins did, adding an animation on the barrel when you look up and down to show that's what you have to do, maybe add some icons on the barrels with arrows pointing up and down which glow when you press up or down? I don't have that much to complain, S3K is my favorite classic 2D game Sonic Mania: If I really had, maybe just have original zones, with original level design, gimmicks and music, the 4 new zones we have are amazing already, but Mania is just amazing overhall there's not much I would change, it's not only on my top 3 of favorite classic 2D games because of the old zones which I don't like replaying as much as I do with the 4 new zones (and when I do replay, I do mostly in the original games rather than in Mania lol), so it is my 4th favorite classic 2D game instead Sonic Superstars: I really like this game in almost everything, it is my 3rd favorite classic game but I'm in beetween the OST and the boss fights, but I guess I'll take the boss since the OST is such a small portion of it and most of it is amazing as always (and you can already use mods to change the few "bad" tracks lol), I like the boss patterns and attacks, but not having the classic I-frames and the waiting is really boring and bad, I like the regular levels and they're so well designed, but the bosses only have a few saves, some of them not only have creative attacks but also creative ways of damaging them early even without the emerald powers, like Pinball Carnival Act 1's boss having bumpers which you can use to boost yourself up and damage the boss, or Sky Temple's boss which you can use Avatar to hit him in the free falling section to get an extra hit, and having some bosses that you have to wait is fine, we have that in the other games, Carnival Night Act 1 boss, Final Zone Boss, Mirage Saloon Act 1 boss, etc. But even the ones who are not about waiting you have to wait because the boss gets invulnerable for some time, and that even takes away some cool strats you could do to beat bosses eariler, imagine if in Sand Sanctuary boss you could hit 2 of the blue enemies back so you would give Eggman an extra hit, hitting the Sky Temple boss 3 times before it is able to change to the free fall, so many cool opportunities, so I would make the bosses have the classic I-frames and maybe make the bosses faster, less waiting, faster phase transition, etc.
If I were Ai would do a complete reimagining of the genesis trilogy and for Sonic CD I would make it so you have to go to the future to collect time stones or go to the past to destroy genarations I would make the time it takes to time travel not that long and I would also place collectibles and remove the time feature so the game would have a heavy exploring gameplay style using Sonics speed
My list Sonic 1 - Better music Sonic Cd - Scrapped desert level and final fever is added Sonic 2- Wing fortress has 2 acts Sonic 3- Adds a new zone Sonic&k - Add hyper sonic even if ur playing s&k half alone S3&K- Big arms fight and sonic 3 half credit music for credits Sonic Mania - 7 new original zones Sonic Superstars - Better music
Sonic 1: Add the spindash Sonic 2: Give tails more unique controls for 2P Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Keep them the same game Sonic CD: Unlockable Tails, Knuckles, Metal, & Amy modes Sonic Mania: Add some more CD based levels Superstars: Replace the Shadow costume with classic Shadow
