@@eh-i1841 it was hard for a woman to establish her self independantly back then. Women could'nt get credit cards solely in her name. A lot of landlords would'nt sign a lease for a woman. A lot of women fleeing a marriage, or widowed, would have to have a male family member or some other man sign the lease so they could occupy a leased residence. If a woman had a bank account in just her name, her husband could get access to it even though he was not on the account. The reverse was not possible for a wife to access her husbands bank account if she was-nt jointly on the account with him. There were'nt shelters for abused women. There were'nt homeless shelters. Him saying he did'nt like the neighbor comming over suggest alienation.
I hope wife #3 went straight from the studio to a divorce lawyer to get rid of that d-bag hubby. And I wonder if hubby #2 ever hooked up with his mother in-law.
I was 19 when my wife said yes. 5 months later we were married. Never have I ever treated her the way some of these guys treat their wife. If my wife said something and I acted like I was winding up my fist like I was going to hit her it would break her heart.
These husbands are so disrespectful to their wives, they are huge bullies. My father would get so disgusted an upset with any man who would talk to their wives like these guys. He said he couldn't comprehend how a man can call his wife names and then turn around and want to kiss same mouth or anything else!

I have to wonder if husband #3 is the reason his wife has some missing teeth?! I swear I would have walked off that stage if my husband treated and talked to me that way. And no I don't think it was "just that time" in history because my grandpa never treated or talked to my grandma like that and it was before that generation. I know because I lived next door and in my entire life they had one argument because he had a bleeding ulcer and had been hospitalized for it and was put on a diet for it and my grandpa loved his snacks but she made him stick to it! And by argument I mean he tried sneaking a snack and she said Cheser B!!! That was it he knew he had been caught lol She always called him Ches or Sussy but if a Cheser B came out of her mouth he knew to knock it off lol They were married 55 years until his death at age 79 and my grandma never dated or remarried. He actually died June 11th 1994 and their wedding day was June 25th but he knew he was dying of prostate cancer and he told her a few days before he died that he didn't think he would make it to their anniversary and told her he loved her and that he had never loved anyone else and that she was the best thing that ever happened to him. But yeah I don't give husband #3 a pass for saying it was just like that back in those days.... BS!
It wasn't a missing tooth. If you look closely, it's a tooth that's set far back from the others, so the shadow makes it appear missing. I thought the same thing though!

Being born in July of 1996, I certainly missed out on this fun! I just stumbled upon this show! I am fortunate to have a stunningly gorgeous girlfriend, and I would never call her any names ( dumb or otherwise!). That guy got booed by the fans on tbe show! My grandparents were in Vietnam 66-68, when this show aired they were home for 1 year! My parents were not born until 9 years later! I waited on Mr. Eubanks and his late wife years ago . What a cool guy ! TNG was a harder game to host because of its unpredictable answers and responses. Eubanks had to be very adept in going for the laughs or keeping the game moving . Not a strainght game show like some popular game shows of today but reminiscent of the Groucho Marx , half game half comedy type show .
I like this show but I don't like how the husband's keep disrespecting their wives. I agree with everyone on how husband#3 is such a jerk I know it's how it was back then but still not right

I can't believe the husband said his wife was DUMB. I would be really embarrassed and unable to forget it if I was married and my husband thought and spoke of me as DUMB. I wouldn't be too dumb to file for a divorce!!
I’ve watched several of these now, and I am so shocked at how awful some of these men are to their wives (and everyone around them just laugh at the name calling and abusive threats) It’s sickening.

Wowww, grew up watching... Never realized the 'abuse'... This episode back then -with 'husband' #3, saying "I'm gonna break your neck" and the audience laughed. Wife # 3 hopefully was not killed by that a-h*le monster when they got back "home".

Couple #2 husband is a drongo. So, his answer to what his mother-in-law would like to get her hands on was him. Not even funny although I don't think he was joking when he said it. Glad Bob rejected that answer.

That dude the 3rd couple straight called his wife Dumb on national TV, now mind you this was recorded in the 50's early 60's to say that and behave in that manner was uncalled for.
Imagine saying your wife is as dumb as a dog on national TV. THAT marriage did NOT work out, this is fact. Back in those days, women were still being expected to do the household things until they fell into bed. Men stopped working the minute they handed their hat to their wife to hang on the hat rack with his coat. SAD!!
I worked full time, took care of my child and did all the housework. I was born in 1955. My husband’s day ended when he got off work, but mine sure did not! It just depends on the husband. I’m still tired and it’s 2023.
