Two antennas for VTX, two antennas for RX, an antenna for RID and a GPS module. Pretty soon we'll just polarize the props and use them as the tx/rx antennas 😂
Bro I can already fly 2 miles out to sea with 99-100% of packets received at only 100mw. I dont think 2 antennas is a big deal. What we need is ExpressVTx!
openVTX is definitely the best vtx i used. It works perfectly on mobula7 even with that tiny dipole antenna. I can make it to the fourth floor of my house sitting on the basement floor, running at 100mw and using old skyzone 01s with 2 lollipops. And image is perfect. And no overheating when running 400mw.
So I decided to get back into RC after a 40 year hiatus. A couple of years ago, on a whim, bought one of the minidrones off of facebook ad. It does alright in keeping granddaughter entertained but it doesn't have enough power to go against anything more than 3 knot wind so I mostly toy with it inside. This year I bought a a Speedybee drone stack and a Speedybee fixed wing stack, a Radiomaster Boxer radio, a FlySky radio(because it was $40) and a couple of cameras plus a 7" & 6" drone carbon fiber kit. I stopped there because I wasn't sure which motors/ESCs or FPV system to buy. I own a lot of acreage that I want to fly in FPV but no racing aspirations here. The longer the range the better. Will be watching your videos to get up to speed as time is my limiting factor.
Would love to see Gemini transmit on dual bands (915/2.4). The RX would also have to be dual band, but would be cool too increase signal resiliency even more
@@maeluis6214 I am new to FPV and my first whoop is meteor75 pro. It seems amazing! Could you share you experiences and why betaFPV is bad (I really thought the brand is good).
I agree with others, im going to wait to see what other products come out like radiomasters. Im kinda biased i got a pocket recently and i like it for the money so i'm honestly waiting till RM comes out with thier own module that fits my pocket. Until then the pocket's integral is fine.
Very good point about the internal power not being able to supply amps for 2 WATT, i had this issue a few years back, ended up just getting external pack and velcroing it to back of my radio :D
I have a couple of these receivers and I ahve seen the gemini mode in my lua for a little while now since the new updates to elrs and I am so intrigued to learn more so thank you for this vid !!!!
Man that would be awesome bc then the same TX could do both separately aswell 900, 2.4 or both. I think the benefit of 2.4 is latency though and it may have to be slowed down to match a 900 packet rate
Now the obvious question ... When is Radiomaster going to release updated Ranger modules? Somehow I just trust Radiomaster slightly more than BetaFPV.... Yeah yeah, I know, who could have guessed.....
Don’t be silly. Now you don’t have to wait for betafpv to update their radio for ELRS 3. Now you can just buy this module that’s ships with 3.0 already. The convenience factor is undeniable!
I foresee the next event: radio manufacturers are rushing to produce radios with eLRS Gemini TX onboard and dual antennas. Radiomaster TX16 MK3, Jumper T20S MKII...
never had a true FS condition in ELRS, but have seen micro stutters when turning and the antenna is at a non ideal orientation. it also doesnt help that I hold my radio in my lap. Im not going to rush out and buy one, but if one is available when I update my module, I will consider
An RC link line this doesn't do retransmission. It would make the latency variable. The main reason they use retransmission in digital video links is because of how the compression works. If you miss a packet it could mess up seconds of video. For something like this it's much better to miss a packet than take the time to ask for it again.
It's a very interesting thing, I suspect that they may have been able to implement it in a way that at least doesn't break other devices, but I'm not sure if they actually did it that way. If the battery is just hooked into VBUS with no PD controller onboard, most devices probably won't charge with a 2s or 3s. At least in my testing they typically won't accept more than 6V unless there's a power delivery controller or other proprietary signaling circuitry to talk to.
Shoot I haven’t even really run my radio master module that’s capable of 2 watts, I mostly run the happymodel slim pro up to 1w, I never have range issues, but I’ll probably end up getting a Gemini module when Radiomaster or a higher powered unit comes out
On the betafpv website: Note: When the voltage of the radio transmitter battery or external battery is lower than 7V (2S) or 10.5V (3S), please use the Gemini mode of 500mW and 1W carefully, otherwise the transmitter will enter the restart state due to insufficient power supply, resulting in disconnection out of control. It scares .
I’d find it unlikely to make a huge difference. The worst interference would be at the radio in your hand, where the most power is, but your quad is far away. This is basically the same as 2 people flying with ELRS near each other, which isn’t an issue
ELRS is already the best and it looks like it's going to keep getting better. Sorry Crsfr you had your time, ELRS is here and it's innovating the RC link.
Hey Joshua, i need your help to decide what to get. I currently have the Dji Fpv drone and want to upgrade to a freestyle drone. I am really looking forward to get the fpv kit that was made by you from getfpv with the dji o3 system. I would also have to buy a toolkit and a smoke stopper and multimeter... but i dont know if i am going to use them again if i build the quad. do you reccomend me to get that kit or just to buy a prebuild drone with the dji o3 airunit in it?
Tbs can never keep their stuff stocked. Was waiting for a full crossfire module for a whole year, glad they took their time. Now I'm on elrs and happy as hell with it. 😊
I believe s9. Haven't seen anything new by them technology or tech wise. Really thought they would have jumped 9n digital by now but they sim0le backed down and kept quiet
So the real question.. is this Express LRS 'DJIing' the 2.4 band? It seems we're quickly going to further saturate 2.4 Ghz band so we can have other 2.4 links / legacy ELRS / even other Gemini systems Failsafe. Yeah it's hopping at least, but it's 2x the bandwidth / noise on the band. While there are use cases, this is kinda like them 2.5W 5.8 VTXes. This generally does more harm than good.
LoRa transmissions are specifically designed to avoid interference from and interference with other types of trasmitters. In extreme cases, they could see performance degradation, but generally speaking you don't have to worry about it.
I’d imagine this would be beneficial for racers flying with several other elrs/2.4 pilots. As well as professionals in noisy environments. Not that the standard single antenna elrs system had any issues that I’ve heard of.
I think it will increase the chance of interference in a race with lots of pilots as everyone with this module will use double the bandwidth within the 2.4ghz band than before..
I don't see how Switch would cause a latency problem. The latency of the link will be the same, it's just a question of which receiver antenna is the one that gets the signal.
Hey Joshua, you mentioned that you used F1000 mode, but isn't that using FLRC only? My understanding was that Gemini mode utilizes LORA, so does it still function in FLRC modes?
can you do a video on how to get the lowest latency with the 03 unit and goggles 2 .. i have got my 03 on 10hz with the V2 goggles 2.7k 100 fps 4:3 mode also set ISO manually to get richer blues and brighter whites almost as good as my lcos screens the camera to 12 mbs almost as good as analog I love it want to see if it eliminates the stutter in the Goggles 2 ,, Great videos ,as always , been using the sologood elrs it comes preloaded with 3.2.0 firmware no need to update for me just plug and play
I’m not bardwell, but if they shipped at proper voltages it would be fine, but you have no way to know if the Lipos are at storage voltage or not until you check them. If you got any defective ones you could also go outside return window
Every LiPo I've ever bought was already at storage charge. You should be fine. Unless you know it sat on a retail shelf for a couple years, then I'd definitely put it on the charger and run it up to 3.8v/cell.
What do you think will happen with all the order dji drones now that remote ID is here? I know it’s not related but can’t catch a live stream right now.
Drones not currently in production will get no update and will need a remoteid module to be legal. Drones currently in production will get standard remoteid.
@@JoshuaBardwell lmao oh wow, i must have been scrolled down a tiny bit when i first watched this. i only saw the second row of osd with the satelites, and you were referring to the numbers that i couldn't see the hills have fpv, but not eyes.
@@JoshuaBardwellby no diversity rx you mean true diversity (independent dual receivers on one board) right? They have antenna diversity receivers Is true receiver diversity a lot better than antenna diversity? I figure it wouldn’t matter much cause the antenna position is what really matters right?
Does anyone have a photo of a FAA drone police officer? I have never see one of the FAA police force and would like to know what they look like with their FAA police uniform on.🤔
i really want to see link-diversity... eg; split the control link between ELRS and Crossfire.... or Crossfire and Ghost.... or 900mhz Crossfire and 2.4ghz Ghost, any combination you want.
I wish Carl from HDzero could somehow implement this for his video ASIC V2. Anyone ever try to implement diversity with video. If retransmission can work why wouldn't diversity?
This is why I won't buy a radio with built in ELRS. Blind Freddy could see it was developing too fast. Rather get 4-in-1 built in, as those protocols are static, and get an external ELRS module. Then when ELRS moves on past the hardware, get the newest ELRS external module.....
I think that the Gemini-mode benefit will be most appreciated amongst the racing community. Normal dual diversity is already amazing for range and penetration. Can't wait to see the new Gemini integrated radios though!
