This is just gorgeous. His words on skateboarding and how it molded him as a young kid and taught him so many life lessons throughout his adolescence is so beautifully said. This is beyond inspiring. It’s so crazy how my love for skateboarding hasn’t ever dwindled even a little bit, I’m 32 years old and after 20+ years on a board, I still find myself skating 2-3 days a week with my ridiculously busy schedule. It’s a necessity and blessing for me daily. The day will come when I’ll be too old to throw myself down a gap or stairs, but I’ll be damned if I won’t be bombing hills or thrashing bowls till I’m 60-70. Lord willing. The feeling you get when you land something on a skateboard for the first time or do something nuts and all your boys / spectators do the OOOOOOOHHHH. Its one of the best feelings ever and those memories can last a lifetime. Its probably hard for a person who has never skated to appreciate the feeling. Skating is different.

The average person has NO CLUE just how difficult it is to play in the NFL or to skate. At this level...this is incredibly impressive. Almost on the level of Bo Jackson, I said almost, don’t freak out.

He seems like a reasonably intelligent guy so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. That said, most players contracts say they can't skate or ski or even ride motorcycles and even if that's not the case with him, I wouldn't be filming it. Still, cool video, cool guy, he rips.

I’ve watched this video multiple times and it gets more relatable each time. I started skating at 9 but I was never too consistent because I played multiple other sports and I am black kid that lives in the hood in NYC. Whenever I skate Im always by myself and feel like an outcast. Skating has taught me so much that I can translate into other sports that I play like Football and Soccer.

I have so much respect for this guy, and the fact that he says skating takes a lot of time and practice, everything about him seems like chill and cool dude

Loved watching John play while he was at Tennessee. His balance during contact was a thing of beauty. During his jr year I read that he was a skater and the incredible balance completely made sense. This video was amazing, great to see a professional athlete geek out about their hobbies from their childhood

I know the feeling. I plaid soccer (football as we call it in Europe) for 14 years. And plaid on elite level. Then I starter skating, and was hooked after a few months. Stopped playing soccer and been skating since! Keep pushing

This shit is so good. As a kid that quit skateboarding the day summer camp started for my freshman season of high school football and didn’t pick it back up until I was 25, I relate and understand the love of both football and skating. I’m 45 now and still skate and love football so much.

It just shows how many "hidden" skaters we have in society. There are plenty of "sleepers" out there who used to skate and occasionally pick up the board for a few sessions here and there. Many of them (including myself) watch skateboarding videos on a regular basis and can't resist the urge to pick the board up again after enough inspiration from the established skaters. You don't choose skateboarding, skateboarding chooses you!

Utmost respect for this dude. Guitar playing was what made me take breaks from skating (especially shattering my wrist) but it really goes to show, once a skater, always a skater.

As difficult as he says skating is (which it is) I imagine he can put his hands (or feet) on almost anything and be good at it, total control over his body and incredible spatial awareness all on display in this 5 min vid. This is dope AF. I'd love to chill him. I always played football and skated growing up in MI. I always got made fun of by the rest of the sports team but skateboard brought so much light into my world. Growing up in Flint in the 90s and into the 2000s was rough but skateboarding was always there for me. Very awesome video.
