Funny thing is that Yoko Taro is so insane he could put that church interior in like 00.1% disks of Nier just to fk with the audience.

the funny part is that I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually true. The level of craziness yoko taro's games have is out of this world, and the picture with the corpse with a flower kinda makes sense when you know about the yoko's universe, where drakengard and nier games take place

If this IS a hoax, then it's an incredibly well done one. Love the touch of a pure white Yonah lying on a bed with a flower growing out of her chest; great reference to both NieR 1 and Drakengard.

from what ive seen, no one has ever done this level of modding in nier, so either this guy made a huge break through in modding this game, or its the creater fucking with us edit: it was a modding breakthrough

Okay update from the subreddit: The guy posted a few more videos. He went back in as 9S and hacked the chest then died fighting the shadow (brother nier), then in another vid he beat the enemy and there was a stone replica of the two birds on the fountain from the first Nier game. They asked him the same question in Japanese but he kept replying with the 1st answer and was getting sent back to the start of the tunnel. This 100% feels like Yoko Taro fucking around and maybe revealing a new Nier game. The guy is obviously playing dumb, he kept going into the menu to use a small recovery instead of using the heal button, and why tf did he choose the first answer three times in a row without even trying the second answer lmfao.

Update: It was indeed a very well made mod, the guy made a stream showing the god from one of the endings of drakengard 3 and at the end the team clarified it was indeed a mod, while it isn't a secret it is still huge beacause is the first time someone manage to edit maps for Nier automata

The thing I both love and hate about this entire situation is almost every possible answer has the same amount of believability. Could this be a mod? Absolutely but given the current state of Neir modding its questionable. Could it be viral marketing? Absolutely. For better or worse Yoko Taro is a madman and this would be right up his ally as an "ad". Could it be 100 percent real and legitimate? Absolutely. Yoko Taro is a memelord and would happily say "yup every secret found" while damn well knowing one of the weirdest and most well hidden secrets is still out there. It could, in all reality, be any of these answers. And it both amazes me, and also bothers me to no end.

I never thought I'd hear "today's episode of Haunted Gaming" again. Man, that takes me back - I still can't believe it's been eight years lol. I remember I was so into creepypastas and stuff back then and Muta's videos had such a nice, chill vibe when talking about creepypastas. Cool to see that referenced in more of Muta's videos!

Possible theories ranked from most to least likely: 1. Devs getting ready to release something and using an ARG to hype people up 2. Mod devs getting ready to release modding tools that would allow this level of editing, but are using an ARG to hype it up 3. Someone actually did discover a hidden area, and the reason for it not showing up until now is just a mystery, as it was presented by the original poster 4. Someone stole the source code and built the game themselves, and basically has full access to modding the game 5. Someone recreated the game in a different engine and creates this fake area 6. Someone faked this gameplay in blender or similar

That room looks very familiar to the final room of Nier Replicant. The flower is a staple of that game (I think Lunar Tear.) And appears to be the younger Nier model or Yonah. I am unfamiliar with Drakengard, but I've been told it's of the same "universe." In any event, to me this looks like cut content for referencing the original Nier game and the Shadowlord himself. - It also would be a 100% Nier thing to do if it's actually an upcoming DLC to announce it in such a way.

Yoko Taro is like Hideo Kojima on steroids, constantly hiding a lot of stuff in his stories, so I wouldn't put this past him. Heck, the guy makes you play his games some 10+ times to get all endings and some of them are pretty obscure to find.

Seeing this kind of easter egg/ARG hunting process in game with huge dedication and effort is like watching the indiana jones type adventure.

That subreddit is already insane. Imagine the users complaining about fan service in the game despite joining a community dedicated to a game where Yoko Taro himself acknowledged how horny the game is.

I bet an ex dev that has some version of the source was able to mod it all in himself with little difficulty. I worked on Civ III back in the day and could have easily taken the old assets and made "impossible" changes. The fact that it's a PC build makes it even more plausible.

The reddit user just uploaded an update, he opened the box with 9S and it contains a document on Yonah, a character from the first Nier game and the girl with the flower on her chest. The enemy (dubbed by the community as Blobby) attacks the player and kills him. An interesting thing is the moveset of the enemy resembles that of Shadowlord, the brother of Yonah and the final antagonist of the first Nier game. Edit: They posted another update. After defeating Blobby, you can interact with a bird bath, the same bird bath in Shadowlord's Castle that gives the same riddles.

I saw NieR subreddit and I got so scared that this was a controversy video cause the community was very chill. glad to see it’s a fun community thing going on cause I was confused myself when i opened the reddit

I'm very new to NieR as a whole, in fact I've only been on the outskirts of the community (played Automata's 3 routes once each) and I LOVE THIS SERIES. The lore is fucking amazing, it's so impressive how much shit Yoko Taro has in this one universe. It's so deep that I understand absolutely nothing but want to know everything. I still don't know what a Gestalt or a Replicant is, but shit, I wanna learn. Here's hoping for another pc-console released NieR game.

Futago means Twins. There are many twins in Yoko Taro's games including the Red Girls, Popola and Devola, Seere and Manah, Adam and Eve, Emil and Halua, and the One twins. Note : Yoko Taro seems to have a thing for a pair of characters or companionship. Games he made will have a playable MC with someone, or something to accompany them. The player will never be truly alone. Sadfutago guy might be onto something.

I've been playing Nier Replicant. I decided I should check in on the subreddit cause I stayed away from it when Replicant released. And all I saw was insanity. And a few people saying "this sub was single handedly revived by this. Eat it NSFW cosplayers and artist!" There's even people treating it as a conspiracy from the devs to hype up the sub again.

The kid with the lunar tear on their chest might be Yonah from nier gestalt. it looks similar to the room where you meet Weiss for the first time in Nier Gestalt. whether this a hoax or not, i'm happy the game is once again getting so much attention but still. it would be pretty damn awesome if this is real though

This is one of the biggest breakthroughs in modding I've seen in a while, pretty much all the mods up to this point have been visual mods for fidelity and costumes, if this dude shares his findings we could get proper NieR in engine fangames (the only ones that exist so far have only been simple hacking style mini games or typical lewd ones) so I'm excited for the future of this.

Honestly, every single outcome of this mystery is extremely interesting. Is it a genius marketing ploy for something new related to Nier? Is it actually real? Was it part of something that was scrapped early on? Was it an incredibly well designed hoax, years in the making? I can't wait to find out.

Can I just point out that when he goes down the hallway, the bot starts to shake, almost as if the pathing/ground interaction with the bot makes it shake although when he boosts the bot floats smoothly almost as if to hide the shakiness of the bot. I want this to be real but I'm feeling like a Mulder on this one.

If Yoko has hidden shit in probably one of his most acclaimed and popular games, it does make me wonder whether Nier Replicant or Drakengard 1-3 has anything similar. Wouldn't put it past the dude.

To be fair this might be a new piece of content that could be dlc or part of the switch port and Yoko Taro himself is doing all this. He's that kind of game dev. He does whatever he wants and he will confuse you for the fun of it. So I'm leaning towards it being possible new content that Yoko taro has made and is doing that as a way to promote it.

I kid you not, I had a similar experience with COD: Black Ops. I think it was the second last mission, where Hudson frees us and we roam around getting our memories back as Mason. My experience was SO UTTERLY BIZARRE, I thought it was a wild dream. MY experience playing the game were completely different cutscenes, completely different dialogue, with walls being torn down and tiles flying past my face. Mason's memories were shown completely different. As a matter of fact, Hudson wasn't the one who freed me, I freed myself. Mason just ripped the belts off his wrists and started walking, just like that. At the end, I did meet Hudson where he punches you, but the game got soft-locked. I couldn't move, Hudson couldn't move, the game didn't progress, no matter what I did, nothing worked. Keep in mind, I was eight, so I didn't know what I could do to resolve. I looked up on RU-vid and saw that other people had experiences different to mine, so I just watched the RU-vid gameplay and called it a day.

I saw this a few days ago. One of the few games I really took the time to get a platinum trophy for. I'm glad to see this series is getting some more love and attention. But it's nagging at me.... I feel like... I had seen that door before. I'm probably just imagining it, more than likely. But the more I think about it, the more I feel like I've seen it.
