My dad worked for Elba and this one always makes me cry uncontrollably but I can't stop watching it every year. I miss my dad so much. I was born the year this came out and I had pneumonia when I was born and every year after that because I also had asthma and I related to this little girl in the story so much! I was always so worried for her the way my mom would always worry about me. There's so much meaning to this particular Christmas show for me. But when I look at this, I'm so grateful that we have cars and penicillin and pneumonia shots, vaccines and other things that they did not have in 1822.. I saw this when I was maybe 2 years old because they played this every year from 1968 on and it was always so special from the way it's drawn, to the music, to the psychedelic amazingness of it!! Every bit of this represents my earliest childhood memories also. Merry Christmas to you! 🎅🤶💚🌹🍏🍄🌲🍷

Exactly this was awesome. This was when America actually had good moral backbone and we didn't worry about being accused of discrimination and we just made a cartoon about Christmas and it was just a cartoon. Nobody read into it and wondered why there wasn't two of this group and three of this group and two and a half of this group. It was just a cartoon that was good about Christmas. Awesome stuff

My mom brought the vhs tape home to me one December, when I had stayed home sick. I was about 5 then, and I have loved it ever since, 33 years later its still one of my favorites to watch every year.

I am 60 years old, and enjoy this story! I used to show all my daycare children the story on VHS tape, over the years, and then we got rid of the VHS/DVD player. I have missed seeing it for about 5 years, and came on here last year to see if I could find the story, but didn't. Tried again today, found it!!, and showed the 1 girl the story, and as usual, my eyes welled-up at the part of the story when Charity is feeling the worst, begging for the story, and her dad states, "It's no use". It was great watching it again!

I was born in 1966. These are the memories of my childhood. Also The Christmas Carol cartoon that was shown every Thanksgiving morning I believe on CBS. The Jacob Marley ghost is the scariest I've ever seen but I sure loved that cartoon when I was young. And Johnny Whittaker in The Littlest Angel. Such wonderful memories!

Oh my gosh! This was my FAVORITE Christmas movie as a kid! I had it on VHS tape and all I knew was how to put it in the player on the TV. I don't think I could even read at the time because I didn't know the name of the movie, or maybe I just never cared to read it. As I'm watching it I'm remembering all the parts. I used to love the part where they decorated the tree, and I used to want to make popcorn garlands SO bad. Thank you for uploading this, this fills a part of my heart 🥺❤️

This is one of my favorite Christmas Classics. I watched this every year along with Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Little Drummer Boy, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and there was a puppet Christmas cartoon on channel 12 that was broadcast every year. I believe it was called the Nativity. These are all wonderful and timeless classic. I love them all! Happy Holidays to everyone. 🎄 🎁 🎀 🔔 🎅 🌲 🎁 🎀 🔔 2021

In 1970, this actually played on a Friday night during prime time I remember cuz my dad worked for Elba and we watched it because Elba was the sponsor.. it was a big deal in my household!! I suspect it played prime time for many years but I also suspect you're a lot younger than me! LOL

I remember when this first came out on dvd! I fell in love with it and played it every year until my player tried to eat it! Last year I found it on eBay in DVD format. Now it's here on You Tube and I couldn't be more pleased. I was a senior in high school when this was new and now I'm a senior citizen! Where have the years gone?!

I had this on vhs tape as a child. It was my absolute favorite. After my mother passed when i was 19 I stayed with a boyfriend for a little bit but ultimately got my place... I had this tape in a moving box labeled in giant letters DO NOT THROW OUT!!! SENTIMENTAL!!! come to pick up my things when getting my first apartment to find out the ex bfs mother threw out the box. It's been a search for nearly twenty years to find this. Snowflake time big boot time!! I looked up the children's names, the story line, songs... I couldn't find it & tbh my 3yo watches my phone sometimes when he gets crabby if we're out waiting somewhere... i looked over at him playing & seen this & clicked on. What an accidental gift!! Meant to be & now i can share it with him!! ❤❤❤ gorgeous nostalgia

I can still remember watching this in 1968 I was 9 years old at the time. And I was very sick with bronchitis pneumonia, I never even heard of Santa clause until I saw this cartoon. It was a blessing because it gave me something to believe in when I had nothing else. And for whatever reason, I never forgot it. This cartoon stuck in my head for 51 year's. And it's still my favorite Christmas cartoon. Later I learned that the real Santa is God our provider.✝️ And though I'm almost 61 now, it's so nice to know There is a real Santa named God. ✝️ C is for the Christ child, born upon this day. H for hearold angels in the sky R means our Redeemer. I means Isral. S is for the star 🌟 that shown so bright. T is for Three wise men, they who traveled far. M is for the Manger where He lay. Wow, thank you for this. I remember seeing this in what I think was December of 1972, sometime before Christmas. While I did not recall the name of this cartoon, I never forgot the story of a little girl who just wanted a book about Santa Claus. At the time, I thought it was stupid. Now, I can appreciate it for what it was. Listen to the music. It has the same qualities of another one of my favorite kid films, The Incredible Mr. Limpet, Don Knotts, 1964 (I think).

I watched this when it first aired in 1968 and I never saw it again. They kept coming out with all of those stupid animal cartoons by the same name but I wanted to see this one. I've been searching for years for this animation and I am forever thankful to those who have shared it here. I love it! And if you like this animation you should listen to the song by Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians. The verse they added was "Twas the night after Christmas..." I've been listening to it since I was born and I love it!

Hey everyone, RU-vid is the closest thing to a time machine to rhe Baby Boom Generation. This cartoon was on TV in 1968 and in Los Angeles it was on Channel 4, KNBC, Los Angeles. In those days, we didn't have kid's Network such as Boomerang, The Cartoon Network or the Disney Channel. We had holiday specials around the Christmas season, and we watched them. This cartoon brings back memories, because when someone ate too much food, we used to say, " That dog, eats too much, lol!" It was a time where everyone looked forward to watching cartoon holiday specials on TV, and if you missed one, you had to wait a year before it was on TV again. Thank you for uploading this cartoon, because it brings back memories of sleepless nights on Christmas eve!

Joseph, thank you SO much. I have NEVER seen this cartoon unedited and it is one of my favorites. I have a VHS cassette of it, and have seen it on TV, but it has always been the version with three minutes cut out of it. I love this one because they actually try to make it look like it's 1822, baking in the oven next to the fireplace, the bedwarmer, etc. The only thing anachronistic is that little Clement is in overalls. Little boys wore dresses in those days when they were very small, and even if Clement had been old enough to be "breeched" (put into pants), he would have worn a small boy's version of what his father is wearing, not overalls.

When I was a small child, the May Company department store created an area where parents could leave their kids while shopping and they were watched by Santa's Elves. One of the places we could go was into a tent where this cartoon was played. I was spellbound and by the time Mom and Dad came back, I had learned the words and could sing "Twas the Night Before Christmas." I finally found a VHS of it and it was one of the things my kids watched. So many lovely memories. Thanks for sharing this!

Mr. Moore actually wrote this story for his children before it was published, but I think Charity's illness was fictional for drama. It's still a wonderful special.

Thank you so much for this! I'd got this on VHS from 'St Nick' as a child, and until I wore out the tape, it was required viewing for me every year. I've really missed it; thanks for making the magic accessible again. 💜💜💜

Thank you so much for posting this! I remember seeing this many many years ago and then it vanished. It is spectacular old school and makes my heart happy to see it once again. My kids are grown but I cannot wait to share it with them anyway. Precious & just wonderful ❤ 🌲

I remember the sun setting and moon raising. The old Showbiz Pizza restaurants had animatronics props, like these.

Glad to get the uncut version at all, I recall seeing it later on TV in the 90's and noticed how they cut out a number of scenes from this to fit more commercials in.
