This is about the life and service of a German nightfighter pilot and his crew during WW2. Their only mission for years was to climb into the dark sky to try and bring down some of the thousands of bombers that targeted by RAF orders the civilian population. Hitler did not want war with England. Hitler did not begin the bombing of civilians. But he could not maintain credibility with the German people if night after night bombings by the RAF went unanswered. So he ordered retaliation. Hitler had proposed agreements on keeping combat operations away from civilian areas as early as 1935. Churchill's attitude is not only known, it is documented in his speech July 14, 1941
in which he gave the 1940's version of Bush's "bring 'em on"... except Churchill was condemning British civilians not just soldiers and airmen. In this speech -which can be found by searching for "Do Your Worst" Churchill also takes the opportunity to lie and claim that Germany had initiated the bombing attacks on civilians, a claim refuted on record by his own Air Ministry. Also at the time of his speech, Germany is one month into the attack on Stalin's Soviet Union with the mission to put an end to Bolshevism once and for all and hardly in a position to continue an undesired war on Britain. So why does Churchill ponder the "lull" in the bombing when British intelligence knew of Germany's attack on Stalin weeks in advance?
Two months earlier, Rudolf Hess had flown to Britain. He was to meet some "influential" persons there who he believed could help bring about a peace between Britain and Germany, but it turned out to be a trap. And the killing went on.
The conflict between Britain and Germany may yet turn out to be the decisive point in history leading to the ultimate destruction of the Western world, all that we know and take for granted in what we call "civilization". And leading to a new Dark Age. There is no condemnation here for the RAF airmen who bravely did their duty throughout the war, and no support for hatred against Britain. If the future is to be saved it will require a linking of arms of all Western peoples -including Britons and Germans.

If Major Heinz Schnaufer had have been British or American every man, woman, and child in the westeren world would have heard of him and though of him as a real hero, but because he is German no one has,a statue of him should be put in place in Germany for all the German civilians he saved,it should taller than bomber Harris statue in London,or maybe some of us would just see it like that.

Very nice video :-) I live in St-Trond, Schnaufer was stationed on a base not far from where I live.

To add something else...its funny how all those people who keep telling us how 'bad' the Germans were don't seem to have any historical information to back up their argument. Whereas those who have studied history KNOW otherwise and can provide FACTUAL information to make convincing statements.
