The Night Lords Legion - Born in Darkness (Warhammer 40k Lore) 

The Emperor's lich warriors. Genetically engineered sadists. The Imperium's true Spanish Inquisitors. These guys were cloaked in all of humanity's grimdarkness from the get-go - before even leaving the subhuman depths of the planet that made them; much less, the planet's surface. Deprivation of humanity, of the very light, leading to persistent depravity. Troopers in despair. Coming from roots of daggers in the dark, these favored skin-flaying bastards were destined for darkness - Night Haunter or not. As for his exacerbation of this Legion, though: that's how being led by emo ends up, kids. Being sourced and cultivated from condemned murderers to the distinct 40k extreme ensured that the VIIIth Legion remain eternally mired in evil and susceptible to the shadows of the Warp. Always. Becoming hated by their second, most immediate adoptive father - after their first, more distant father to all Mankind - really didn't help them. These ultimate reapers of Imperial execution superhumanly enhanced the constant-killing instinct of Nostromo to be very effectively scary as intended and the God-Emperor should regret neglecting their lack of humane attention. There, I said it. Anyway, thank you very much for bringing out the super-psycho legion of the Astartes, GDN. I'm anticipating finding out more about the Night Lords' atrocious history. The Night Lords were perhaps were a weapon of terror before their reunion with their Primarch and perhaps if Cruze was more mentally stable individual he could have perhaps change them for the better.

In the grim darkness of the far future, there are no therapists...which is probably why it is so grim in the first place.

I guess I kinda understand their method, when some people believe deeply in a certain way for things, it always turns out to form a religious aspect for itself, and all religion form around a god, the manifestation of the collective will of its followers, when properly indoctrinated and sufficiently zealot believers come across triumph they will interpret it as their absolution gifted by their God, when beaten and bruised they imagine it to be a trial of faith, a mere test of their endurance and devotion, to make people turn away from a god only defeating them, rasing their cities and desecration of their temples does not deliver the massage to their most zealous, and those will always sing the old song when you are gone to bring back the flock, to truly remove the faith one must break the back of the god, some say to make a god bleed and people will start to lose their faith, this can be done by creating a prolong and arduous situation seemingly with no end in sight and keep it until all prayers have proven unanswered and all heart broken from the realisation that they have been forsaken by the object of their devotion, it could take decades for some and yet even some should perish awaiting a salvation only to push the rest beyond the edge... Or... You could go by the intensive shock method, to commit such acts of blunt atrocity that defies all sanity, so horrifying that all minds would result that how could their god remain silent upon such brutality, and then as eyes pour tear and hands reach for the sky, calling damnation upon you, you must escalate to even more bloody acts, the sheer shock value of beholding something so unimaginable that mere moments ago was beyond your wildest nightmares and what you sained to be the end point of wrong possible within the confines of reality and now your God still remains silent, the experience will shatter everything your mind has constructed as the world you know, including your god and your faith, in him and in your way of things... As mind boggling as ot sounds, it works, Mongols and Uzbeks did that to us in a one two punch and it uprooted all that had survived the Arabs invasion of persia for centuries... the method works and the 8th is the ultimate tool of such method... what took two hordes to accomplish over the span of a century, the 8th delivers over a weekend, in record time and in style... It's crazy, but it's 40k, it's called grim dark for a good reason, it's not for the faint of heart...
