What would help is less middle management, not needed at all, more ground staff reduce shift hours from 13 to normal 8 hours with 1 hour lunch, not the 30 mins as is now. Give staff a happy/healthy working life. NHS spends thousands with well being, yoga classes, counselling etc, look after staff from the beginning then nhs wouldn't be wasting money trying to correct the damage they have created in the first place. NHS is suppose to a caring service, they break the backs of staff as well as their moral.

I was disturbed at seeing this as well. Honestly when you see people in A&E with a baby that could have been seen by a regular doctor and then you see an infant who is clearly in distress it is mind boggling. No, no racism happening there (obviously I'm being very facetious). Understand that almost all A&Es work with a triage system that is clearly broken. It is the same here in Canada. There is prejudice towards Indigenous people here in Emergency - regrettably due to the high level of addiction abuse. They need to now have either an experienced physician or registered nurse completing the triage, you see too many bad calls by the new physicians and nurses in Emerg. They don't follow the ABCDE of triage at all.

Its people living too long. We need to be more realistic when treating the elderly. The other problem is too many immigrants who come here with too many children purely to access and abuse the healthcare. Its not just a lack of staff or beds the core of the problem has a lot to do with the fact that so many people dont take personal responsibility for their health. They'll indulge in all the pleasures the world has to offer and as such will become sick at some point and at this point they'll turn up at the A&E expecting doctors to "Fix" them. But you cant compensate for poor lifestyle choices, there are no pills that can redress the balance. If everyone were to choose to eat healthy food instead of the processed man made junk that tastes nice but in reality makes you sick. If people were to choose to not work jobs they hate or to stay in these toxic relationships. If people were to have a healthy spiritual life instead of spending their time watching pointless tv shows. If people were to forgive and drop offences like hot rocks............then hospitals would not be overcrowded and the staff put under so much strain. People, individuals have way more power over their health than they think. Their health is their responsibility not a doctors or anyone else, its up to them to make the right choices on a day to day, moment to moment basis.

@TheWeepingDalek
@TheWeepingDalek 4 года назад
@@johntony1670 depends on how bad the anaphylactic shock is. if it is really that bad then really you can't walk. because your throat will start swelling. also, I am not saying these people should get medical help. but if you are still able to wait around for 4 hours is something really an emergency. what I am saying is there needs to be a different department that also opens 24 hours that deals with less severe stuff. the fact is. somewhere where a doctor will see you. and if be can admit you into the hospital. but don't have people coming in with heart attacks and RTC victims waiting in an ambulance for beds to be freed because some drunk guy broke his nose.
@johntony1670
@johntony1670 4 года назад
Koba but conditions can get worse. If the drunk guy broke his nose it can still cause heavy blood loss and could lead to a broken bone... so it’s an accident and emergency. Triage exists for a reason.
@TheWeepingDalek
@TheWeepingDalek 4 года назад
@@johntony1670 my point exactly it could get worse. Imagine sitting around in an A&E department with said a broken nose. But there has also been RTC and how every doctor and nurse there is busy dealing with that. There is also a heart attack victim there. But broken nose guy has another problem. In the fight that caused him to break his nose he all internal bleeding. The doctors and nurses are to busy to realise he is there. All I am saying is 24hour walking clinics need more recognition. These places still have triage and if need be can send people to A&E if they feel symptoms are getting worse. But otherwise deal with the patients there. Leave A&E for ambulances bringing in the already critical.
@alisonwilliams4862
@alisonwilliams4862 4 года назад
Then everybody would be phoning for an ambulance and stretching an already limited ambulance even more. I worked as a call taker for one of the ambulance services and I would say that over half the calls were not life threatening emergencies. My more experienced colleagues often said that people just phoned for ambulances because they believed that they would be seen quicker at A&E (which isn't usually the case, apparently) or that they just used the ambulance service as a free ride to hospital.

@katy3901
@katy3901 5 лет назад
Don't try to defend your shitshow of healthcare by comparing yourself to us. The NHS still provides better care than the majority of people living in the US have access too. Additionally, the issues within the NHS aren't caused by "nationalised healthcare," but by funding cuts from the Westminster government. This is evident from the better results found within the Scottish NHS, where funding is devolved and more is provided by Holyrood. I'm a medical student in Glasgow, and my life has been saved by the NHS numerous times. No students, nor any of the doctors I know, would even consider wanting a system akin to the American system. We just want more funding, which the Tories refuse to provide. Do a bit of research and self-reflection before you decide to relate your problems to ours.

@@aaronjones1131 Hi, So firstly I want to sincerely apologise for the tone of my message; yesterday I was out for Paddy's day, and in a break back home when I wrote it. As you can imagine I'd had a few drinks, and although this doesn't excuse it, I hope this goes someway towards explaining my state of mind. Although I don't necessarily disagree with the points I raised, I absolutely regret how I phrased and structured it as reading back I came across as very conceited, angry and spiteful. To be frank, it was rude and uncalled for. Also, I absolutely agree that the US provides a high quality of care to those who can afford it. What I disagree with is a for-profit healthcare system in general, as I think it gives far too much power to pharmaceutical companies and big business in exploiting the basic human needs associated with care. For example, the driving up of the price of insulin is infuriating as it primarily affects the most vulnerable. Personally, I've always believed that the mark of a good healthcare system comes from access and quality. This video is by no means an exaggeration (I'm not going to do the hospital staff or patients a disservice by claiming that), but it's certainly at one end of the spectrum. Overall, the NHS continues to provide an excellent standard of care at point of use. Again, the issues caused by a Tory government have been massively detrimental to the NHS, but Scotland (where I'm a medical student) has devolved and better funding pathways, resulting in a better retention rate and quality of care. This illustrates the cause of problems in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. I do work hard, but I know of people in low income jobs who work hard too. I'm still promised a good wage, in a job where I get to make a massive difference in people's lives, so I don't really see it as a hardship. I hope your studies go well :). And, again, I'm truly sorry for how my initial message came across.

akcortin2 nooooooooo nhs is amazing that it’s for free, we just need them to get higher pay and better facilities. If there’s higher pay then more people will become part of the nhs

There's a reason this comment got no support. Everyone deserves free healthcare

@@frabgas27 I don't think you would have the same attitude if you were in poverty and you or someone you loved was very ill and required huge amounts of care from the NHS that you wouldn't get just because you couldn't afford it in another healthcare system in another country. The NHS system is very broken and very abused but it's better than leaving the general public to the hands of wealthy drug companies and businesses that are just in it for to make the most out of vulnerable, sick and desperate people.

This is ridiculous and pathetic. It looks like a third world facility! Time to start charging people and investing properly into staff. Look at NY med for a comparison of how much better the American healthcare system is

amsathac Rubbish! I’d rather have to wait a few hours for a minor injury than not go at all because I can’t afford it.

Why wouldn’t you be able to afford it?

XxBaffled BrainxX people have health insurance. Most people get given it with work. Remember the nhs isn’t free - you’re still paying for it through your astronomically high taxes in the U.K. it’s a great concept to provide free healthcare for everyone don’t get me wrong. But the nhs is no longer fit for purpose - competition drives prices down. Surgeries get cancelled as there are no beds, rotas unfilled as doctors are leaving, people piled up on trolleys, doctors who invested hundreds of thousands in their training get paid peanuts, your govt treats them like dirt, cancer outcomes are comparable to Eastern Europe standards. Is this what you expect from the fifth largest economy in the world?! You Brits are so blindly in love with your nhs as a national symbol.

amsathac I definitely agree with you on a number of different points. The American and British healthcare system are both broken. They are almost as bad as each other but in America it’s a lot more expensive. I understand you can get health insurance but I’ve read a number of different articles which explains that not everyone can afford to get it. Also I’d much rather pay taxes every month than on the spot have to pay thousands of dollars for the littlest of things. The NHS would definitely be alright if the government actually cared in the slightest, bear in mind brexit doesn’t help either. We’ve just got to remember the NHS isn’t all bad like some people make it out to be, it saves millions of lives each day which is something I am grateful for.
