On February 27th, 2013, an ICON was born at MSG. His name was Steph Curry.
Former Knick Iman Shumpert recalls that game and how he wished he could have done more defensively to stop Steph from scoring 54-pts and launch his journey to change the sport.

From what I've seen he changed the way he approach the game. Remember at one time there was a debate between Steph and Kyrie on who has the best handles? Steph went away from that shifty player and expanded his range and stepbacks. Then he started bulking up so now he can just muscle his way in instead of relying so much on changing directions.

‘To obsess over Curry’s three-point artistry is to miss all the other skills that make him one of the greatest players of his generation-and arguably of all time. It’s his sublime ball handling, his ability to weave in and out of traffic; his soft finishes at the rim, with either hand; his midrange marksmanship, his balletic assortment of floaters, scoops and step-throughs; his passing and playmaking and court vision; his rebounding (especially for his size); his stout screen-setting (ditto); his knack for drawing double teams, then solving them with a quick pass or shot.’ {source: ‘Wilt. I was at that game! I was one of like 10 dubs fans there. The dubs still sucked during that time and it was amazing. I was talking mad shit bc Steph deadass made me think we would win. He couldn’t miss that night

That's crazy that the players have the same thoughts as fans because I liked Steph game but I remember watching that game in disbelief but that is when I became a fan 54 piece.

It's crazy that he says that too, because Steph wanted to play for the Knicks before he got drafted to the Warriors, and they were ONE PICK ahead of the Knicks 😂 crazy times lol

I mean, if a player can come into Madison Square Garden, with the game being broadcasted live on ESPN, and put up that type of performance on THAT stage, of course his confidence would skyrocket

The reason i disagree with shump is because steph was coming off of a 40+ game against the pacers already, steph was already torching but to his point the stage put steph on everyones radar, as a fan since his Davidson days, that 54pt game was my favorite steph curry game ever
