I bought mine when they first came out. As far as I am aware it was the first Nikon with Video capability. Granted is quite right very nice images. My son now uses this while I moved on to a D7200. Both great cameras.

Thank you for the review. I visited my favourite camera shop yesterday and was unexpectedly gifted a D90, seeing as it was gathering dust in the shop. Added a used 18-105mm lens and a memory card and bobs your uncle.

Bought mine in 2010 and it’s survived salt spray, subzero temperatures, and everything else I’ve thrown at it. Wonderful images. Used prices in the US at least, a D90, a Tokina 12-24, a Nikon DX 35/1.8 or 40/2.8 macro, and a Tele-zoom like an AF 70-210/4-5.6. Add a sb600 flash, and you have a whole kit for under $500.

You forgot to mention that the D-90 has an in body focusing motor. Which means you can use it with the original > AF-D < (screw drive), auto focus lenses.. None of the 3xxx or 5xxx bodies have this capability. Only the D 7xxx series offer in-body AF motor necessary for AF-D Nikkors.

Ciao, I happened to be wearing my backpack with the zip open, and my D90 fell and bounced 3 times on the asphalt, my blood froze, I didn't have the courage to pick it up, but incredibly it was intact, I couldn't believe it , you can't even understand where it hit, of course if it had fallen on the flash it would have broken, I was lucky, but still it's a war machine.with infinite battery 💪

i used the Nikon D90 alongside my Nikon D3 on safari, my D90 has the 70-200mm F2.8 and my D3 wiith the 300mm F2.8. i love the using the D90 with the 70-200mm for still shots of birds and non-moving animals because of the extra reach i get with the crop sensor. I use my D3 with the 300mm for fast moving subjects because it has the advantage of 9 fps compared to 4.5fps. Anyways, I love my D90 and nothing will ever replace it.

My dad bought a D90 more than a decade ago used it to take a lot pictures from birthdays, school events, holidays eventually he bought a more expensive Nikon and bought a few lens for that but after he got busy with other stresses of life and ended up abandoning photography. Then 4 years ago after taking pictures on my phone for a while i decided that i could try to learn to use a DSLR. Especially since i had taken a class for media where we need to have a DSLR. My dad handed me his old D90 and after that i watched several tutorials and quite quickly mastered using the D90 so much so that my dad ended up asking my help cause i knew the camera better than he did. My original goal when I got the D90 was to learn the basics of photography cause using a camera this old without all the modern DSLR features of today would keep me grounded so I can focus on composition, lighting, generally how to control ISO, Shutter speed and Aperture and once I mastered those things and think I'm worthy enough to take on my dad's more expensive Nikon. But after using the D90 for so long i have changed my mind and want to see how far I can really push this camera. Cause it just has something that is so simple and easy to use that makes it the ultimate beginner camera that still gives out amazing pictures.

Found my way to this vid while looking up the D90 again on youtube. I currently shoot with a D3200 which is a great camera as well however when I got back into photography in 2016 the D90 was still the rig to get. I have wanted to get one for a long time before I got my 3200 and still want to get one to use alongside it as you said its a great walk around camera and takes shots with its 12 mp sensor that the D3200s 24 mp sensor cant give the same feel to.

Had 1 & liked it. Then went D7000 & this is where my love hate relationship started with Nikon. Whilst it had better features, the AF was inconsistent & unreliable. The build, although claimed to be better, was actually a step backwards. When the D7000 worked well, it kicked the D90's butt. Unfortunately it didn't do it that often. Perfection would have been if they took the D90 body, AF & the rest D7000. And then Nikon missed a huge boat by not releasing a D400. Imagine a D300s body & AF with the D7000 sensor.

I gave my great D90 to my granddaughter. Lots of Nikon cameras use sensors made in Sony factories but customized. Colour science starts with the shades of RGB in the Bayer filter applied to the monochrome pixels, continues with the way the demosaicing software forms an image by deciding the final colour of each pixel. Nikon lets you use in-camera presets to fine tune the look for jpegs too. I’m sure there is much more to colour science than I have mentioned, but it is not the whole story to say it’s a Sony sensor.

Hello. Really like you video. I need a more compact camera than my D7100 for holidays and just picked up a D90 from KEH. Really like the camera. Very easy to handle and shoots great pics. Also usable with my older AF lens. The camera was listed in excellent condition and truly is in great shape. The only slight disappointment is that the shutter count is 44K. More than I was expecting, but I do not plan to do sports photography and don't plan on doing more than 20K clicks on it. Should I be concerned about the more than expected shutter count? I think the only camera to contend with the D90 is.. any other old Nikon! The d200 is a crowd favorite being the last semipro with a ccd. The d2x also shouldn't be overlooked as it's a full flagship build with a 12mp cmos dx sensor and for peanuts. The d700 is the best for people wanting to get into full frame. The d610/600 has better specs for the price, but the build and colours on the 700 are much superior. It's the 5D classic of the nikon world. They being said, my gramps picked up a Nikon D90 for cheap at a well priced pawn shop and it's excellent for him for a hundred bucks with a good lens on it.

I still use it once in a while during holidays for kids photos but I think it’s getting outdated because of the image quality and colors. I used to play a lot in a cover bands back in the day and would play the Caboolture RSL all the time - lol - I would always keep one eye on my bass at all time during breaks 😂 Harha … Thats great you got another D90 - Such a Vibe :) Yes, the G9 will be great for Japan - Awesome camera shops over there too :)

@@grantrobertdavies Hahaaa mate good chance I’d of been in the audience for one of those gigs! Spent MANY a day and night up the ‘rissole’. Not safe to go out in Cabbo anymore. Not sure whether you’re familiar with the Irish across the road but that’s why it’s safer to have a couple at home! Yeah the D90 I picked up comes with the 2 lens’s, the 18-55 and the 50mm. I’m no expert by any stretch a mere novice. See how they go initially. I’ll look to get another lens for the G9 as well. Came with the standard 12-60. Japan I thought will be the go for another. The wife will be a lil more forgiving if I buy over there on holidays I reckon lol

@@Rabbitoh72 Yes mate it’s certainly a interesting little town 😆 Hopefully one of these days it will get a bit more welcoming and tidy up a bit as people start to realise how close to the Sunny Coast it is :) Anyway - yes enjoy your new G9 and future lens investments you should take your D90 to Japan too :)

@@grantrobertdavies interesting is an understatement mate! Lived here going on 30 years. Spent 15 of those working security at the shopping centre on King St. We’re working on our exit plan. After Japan lol! Definitely taking the D90 to Japan. I’d purchased before watching your vid and you saying to avoid the ones on eBay around the 400 mark. Hopefully it’s in good shape. The ad said it’d taken around 1k pics so thought not bad. In hindsight the ad saying hadn’t been used in 8 years might not be a good thing! I’ll grab some new batteries and have my fingers crossed

I have one my moms almost unused! I will start using it , it got a kit zoom lens on it but I wanna buy a nice not really expensive though , prime lens for a “film like” result ! Do you have any recommendation for that kind of lens ? Thank
@grantrobertdavies
@grantrobertdavies Год назад
Hi there, “Film Like” really comes down to the editing process and you as the photographer - You can use any lens and get film like results with post production :) However I think I know what you mean - So I’d got the DX 35mm f1.8 :)

I will never sell my Nikon D90. Bought it new and it is the best purchase ever. I got the 18-105 lens with it in the kit and bought the Nikon Nikkor 40mm macro lens, which is for portret shooting a lens with sweet bokeh. Can recommend that one. Still want a 300mm fast autofocus telelems with it, so I can shoot car and motorsports at the TT Circuit Assen. I also have a Kodachrome color profile installed on the D90 for those classic 35mm kodachrome type photographs, which just have something nostalgic to them. The D90 has a little secret. They actually ended up putting the professional range sensor in it, which is the reason it holds up so well as a photocamera (not for movies).

Yeah - I'd certainly go a Mirrorless camera APSC or Full Frame :) Sony A6600 or A7iii :) Good Value Cameras at the moment - Both second hand and new :)

Which mirrorless camera in your opinion comparable to D90?
@grantrobertdavies
@grantrobertdavies Год назад
Ummmmmm, possibly the Nikon Z50 or The Z30??? But that’s only really because of the APSC crop sensor - The mirrorless technology is much more advanced than the D90 :)

No, It's not really up to industry standards for videography. It's getting a bit old and out of date for video.

i agree there is worse quality/durability in every domain ,and photography is the same. Or the gap to getting real good quality/flagship vs entry level quality is bigger than it was. plus i rather have something that was a flagship in it's day that has more character than a mid class from 5 years ago.
