In this video I shoot the amazing Nikon f100. I recently headed back to Arizona to get MARRIED! While there I thought I'd dust off the Nikon f100 and take a ride down the world famous Route 66. The Nikon f100 has so many controls it gives you total creative control over every image you make. Pair this camera with the iconic backdrop of Route 66 and you get quite the combo!
Do you own the Nikon f100? What are your thoughts?
Considering the f100? What is drawing you to this camera?
What features do you look for in a film camera?
What do you think is the best SLR film camera is?
Thanks for watching!

I stayed in one of those Wigwams back in 2016 when I done Route 66. Shot the hell out of it too! :-) Holbrook by evening was quite eerie with all of the closed down motels, a photographic haven. I did like the drive-thru liquor store which was a novelty as someone from the UK! :-D Love my f100 and Zeiss glass, keep up the great work.

I wish I could still shoot MF lenses. However, I no longer trust my eyesight to do so and have defaulted to AF for all my shooting. BTW, I own 2 F100s and an F6. Great video. Well done!

Very nice shots and location! I love the F100, the reason I bought one is because of the first review you did of it a while back. Very interesting how you manual focused on the F100 with out the proper focusing screen.
@MacShootsFilm
@MacShootsFilm 3 года назад
The f100 has manual focus confirmation. Basically put the focus point on what you are taking a photo of and as you manually, focus arrows in the bottom left of the viewfinder tell you if you are or arent in focus. Once you see a green dot you're in focus. Makes it easy. Thanks so much for watching!

I love the F100 but I recently jumped for an F6 and it really is another level of gravy.
@MacShootsFilm
@MacShootsFilm 2 года назад
Honest question. What makes it worth 6x the price of a Nikon f100? Several times I've considered buying an F6, but dismiss that thought when I honestly try to answer that question myself.
@VoiceofFox
@VoiceofFox 2 года назад
@@MacShootsFilm I asked myself the same for a good while before getting it. Main things for me are the viewfinder (noticeably bigger/brighter), AF points on the rule of thirds points (F100 has fewer of them and has them arranged in a cross), more AF modes, build quality (F100 rubber feels a bit nasty in comparison, even when not having the sticky back issue), weather sealing (F100 doesn’t have dust seals - scratched films are a pain), better ergonomics (F6 feels awesome in the hands), matrix metering with AIS lenses (sure you can work around this on the F100 though), EXIF shooting data (stores info for tons of rolls and you can read them off the rear LCD), iTTL flash capability, more durable by all accounts (I had two F100s metering switch fail). It’s kind of hard to put into words, just listings specs, but when you use it you just think “ah yeah, I get it now”. It just feels more solid (in the same way the F3 feels solid) and more modern. Whether it’s worth 6x the price is up to you of course. I resisted until they discontinued it. There’s something nice about owning the last of the F line, knowing there’s nowhere else to go, no better model around the corner. I’d say just get one knowing you can always sell it on if it’s not for you but you probably wouldn’t want to. Hope that helps.

Hello! I prefer spot metering for how I shoot.

The F100 is a great functioning and capable camera, able to use all the latest lenses. However, it has a lot of plastic, including the back with fragile locking pens. There is a reason there a lot of F100s for sale with missing backs. Why Nikon cheaped out on the back is beyond me, otherwise it is a great camera.

As an owner of many old Nikons...... (never enough).... from F2AS, FM2n, FM3a, FA.... and F100 and F4s- and D700, 780 and a Z...... do you know would the 35mm F2...ZF.2..... would that work ok on the older cameras- the F2As through say FM3a ?.... my guess- it will work with my F4s and obviously the F100- or in my searching for the lens- stick with the original non second version- ZF2 ...... oh- congrats on your marriage- beautiful shots...... I recently had some shots from my F100 developed- from 2 years ago (found the roll in a drawer- hmm, what's on this?) ... from Lake Tahoe- 2019... and your colors looked real similar to the colors I got....... beautiful..... anyway, thank you for any input as to what lens I should look for... version 1 or 2 - cheers
@MacShootsFilm
@MacShootsFilm 3 года назад
The Zeiss should work on any f mount Nikon body. If you want the ability to have focus confirmation and have the camera body read all aperture I'd go with the 2nd version. Also, if you're gonna use it on digital bodies, I'd go with v2.

Are the pictures meant to me lacking in contrast with a colour cast? Genuine question I'm not sniping?
@MacShootsFilm
@MacShootsFilm 3 года назад
It's just the way I shoot and dev. Not a fan of contrasty photos. LOMO 400 when shot at 200 causes color shifts. Shot about 400 rolls of lomo 400 like this for that exact reason. One day my style will change. For now, this is how I make images.

I'v e never shot the 35-70. I really only shoot prime lenses. I like the idea of having the ability to go from 35mm to 70mm and it being fixed f/1.8 is super intriguing, just would need to test it out to see if the image quality is there.
