What's up y'all, I'm back with another video in my new studio space to bring you more content. Today I'm talking about the Nikon FTZ adapter and how it can save you money with the Nikon Z system. The Nikon Z system is a fantastic full frame mirrorless system, but it's still not the cheapest full-frame system to get into. Which is where the FTZ adapter comes in to save you money. Really helpful. I think you made a good point about the trade-off between buying expensive/new Z mount lenses, when with the FTZ I/II + F mounts, there's already a wealth of existing, and now affordable used lenses, that can expand your photography universe. Besides, buying used means less waste--it's all going to end up in a landfill someday.

There's so many lenses for the F mount that are simply stunning. You can build an incredible kit of lenses just from the F mount if you wanted to.

I have huge Tamron and Nikon f mount lens collection so this was a must buy when I bought my Nikon Z 8 camera. Works perfectly with F mount lenses.

Helpful review! Thanks for sharing. I just bought a nikon Z7 that comes with 24-70 mm. I want to get a 85mm since I want to take portrait. I have seen that it's crazy expensive!! So I need to get the adapter so that I can use normal lenses? Do the photography will be the same as using Z lenses? Thanks in advance ❤

I have both Z and AF-s F lenses. Sometimes dealing with the adapter is clunky... BUT for my work, I am not a pixel peeper, the F lenses produce great images. I keep dreaming of native mount lenses, but as you mention they are expensive. I bought a Viltrox 56mm for my Z30 and Z50... it's really a great lens. I am considering maybe another or the Yongno lens. I usually buy on Amazon, so I am not worried about finding out I made a bad purchase because they have a great return policy. Your videos are growing on me! Keep doing what you are doing, and in reference to the beginning comments we all make mistakes! Cheers!

Hi, is Nikon Z30 + FTZ ADAPTER work only with lenses AF-S? What about this oldier AF system lenses?

@@Cezarygon I use, and decided to use, the FTZ adapter with my 12-24 Af-s f4 zoom. There are plenty of videos explaining this, better than I can. But short answer is that the lens has to be a AF-s lens because the adapter doesn't have the mechanism to focus the older lenses. It's not about the Z30 but how the adapter was designed. Hope this helps...

I couldnt get it to work with a Nikon f2.8 70-200mm a Sigma 105mm F2.8 or the Nikon 50mm f1.8 . So its getting sold.

Hi, so my Nikon d750 has all but died and I need to get a new camera. I was thinking of getting a mirrorless Nikon, eg z6. I don’t have lots of money to spend on new lenses and some of my lenses are tampon and sigma which worked fine with my 750. I do wildlife and macro photography for a hobby, not for a job, so doesn’t have to be perfect. So I’ve been researching whether or not to go mirrorless. Part of me wants to spend on upgrading to a mirrorless because it’s new tech and lighter. But another part of thinks getting a second hand 750 will be fine because I was happy with the old one until it died, but will I stay happy? Will I end up having to buy new lenses?

Hi mate, if i buy Nikon Z30+ FTZ adapter is my old lenses will be compatible? I got few like Nikon 50/1.8, 35/1.8 but the older one AF, they dont have AF-S. The work with my old Nikon D90, but I'm not sure do i gona get AF on Nikon Z30. All this lenses what You are showing was with AF-S.

Only the af-s lenses will auto focus. The af only lenses simply won’t autofocus

Can you please share with me, where on ebay you're finding a 105mm 2.8 for $115? I'm on the hunt for smaller youtube channels that talk about my favourite stuff. So I'm giving your video a try and bam, you hit me with this. Seems like total BS man. I think your other numbers are off a bit too, but that one stands right out. Which impacts the entire video, as you're drawing conclusions based off these insane numbers. I agree in concept, but you can't just make up numbers.

Oh shoot, I didn’t realize I put in the wrong number. It’s supposed to be 425 not 115. There’s plenty of them on eBay for around that price. I did also mention in the video that the price was of that lens was 425 for context. Thanks for letting me know

My experience of the ftz adapter is it’s a waste of money because the best f mount lenses are not significantly cheaper and the cheap ones are cheap for a reason. Don’t do what I did buy f mount lenses and realise that a 10 or 15 year old lens is pointless on a modern mirrorless camera. They may focus fine etc but you can get weird ghosting and reflections in your images in certain situations that the z mount lenses don’t suffer from. You are not realising the full potential of a z camera until you put a Nikon z lens on it. For me I didn’t save money I lost money buying f mount lenses not being happy so sell f mount lenses at a loss to buy z mount that I should have just got in the first place. In many cases the z kit lenses out perform even the most legendary f lenses

If you purchased a Z camera why would you use the old F mount lenses? If you like them that much, if you want to save $$$, then keep using you F DSLR's , don't buy a Z camera.
