My only question regarding catching the arrow is why would they be trying to shoot/catch an arrow point blank? Their pre-test tennis ball distance was more accurate.

the mizugumo were actually used as floaters, they werent strapped to the feet it was more like a primitive life preserver (those red rings you find on boats)

Yeah nah, there are world records set one after another on catching arrows. compound bows in point blank is not exactly what was done in the pre 1800 era.

two things, from too close of a range (because inside of that range it would be quicker to punch or throw something at the bow user rather then trying to catch the arrow) and second people would usually also move their full hand from the shoulder down instead of just fingers, but still i think it would be very very hard if not impossible

i disagree with them busting the arrow catch, at a reasonable distance where a bow and arrow would be used it wouldve been in the air enough to slow down and given more time for the hand to react. . At the distance here they wouldve used a sword, not a bow.

Adam has zero physical coordination and his balance is like a rock on a needle.

I think the idea of adding little paddles on the water shoes that folded on during forward slide and drop down was a good idea, Adam just needed to improve on his design. I mean we the use same principle with seal skins on skis

in the end, the arrow ended up slowing down because it shot through the glove, alowing the superspeed robot hand to catch it. i wonder if you should've just put something in your hand like a piece of wood for the arrow to embed itself in your palm

Okay this bothers me a lot, there are actually videos of People catching Arrows and in this experiment they had a sample group for the speed of 1 person.

As far as I understand catching arrows from heavy bows was a common practise for professional warrior archers historicly, and there are people alive today that can catch arrows, Lars Andersen being one example.

I just looked it up outta curiosity, and apparently Mizugomo were not water shoes, but mud shoes! My only question is, why not add a thong like in Geta/Zori shoes to easily slip them on and off? They could slip over Tabi boots pretty easily, all you'd need is a second strap to attach the heel so they don't slip out.

Everybody complaining about the point blank arrow shot, did y'all miss the part where Adam adjusted the firing of the arrow after every attempt? The delay in milliseconds pretty much equals arrow flying longer till it reaches the hand, thus simulating arrow catching from a distance without them actually moving the two rigs irl.

The bow is too close to the hand. A real shot would be much further, so you don't need to be that fast. But stepping sideways is much easier though

You don't push or pull a sword with force, you throw the blade, giving a far greater speed, the throw keeps the blade on a clean rotation whilst following / guiding the blade.

I think the misugumo isn't intended to wore it seems like it is deployed for the "ninja's" to quickly jump into one by one to cross so called bodies of water, it's almost identical to a waterlily leaf. Reptiles who can't swim usually jumps to a Lily unto another to cross small bodies of water.

Catching arrows is not a myth I know facts I've done it I can catch field arrows from a 40lbs recurve

A 50 kg athletic asian person might just well run on those across the water for the short time. Strapping it to 85+ kg dude who cant do one pull up is way different

I can see a ninja myth in climbing claws. Imagine a ninja climbing into a palace, he is spotted by a guard, the guard attacks the ninja with his sword. The ninja deflects the attack with his hand (using his claws), throws a smokebomb and escapes. Imagine what shock it must have been for the guard (this was old times, people where not as educated as we are now). He attacked a real "ninja" that just smacked his sword away with his bare hands like it was nothing and vanished like a ghost.

Why would they tie the mizugumos to their feet? They are to cumbersome to walk in, and i wouldn't think they would, stop, tie, across, untie, and proceed with whatever. Feels more like a stepping stone that floats on water. They would have a bunch, throw it across making a path and running over it. Like kids do with swim boards
