The Nintendo Switch’s Successor is Finally Upon Us... 

I'm shocked that Nintendo would just announce all of this out of nowhere like this. Nintendo's super secretive, I never imagined that they would open up about their future plans like this (especially the Direct)

If a tweet from Nintendo starts with (insert important person from Nintendo) get fucking ready because they are about to announce something crazy.

I’m interested in what the launch line up will look like. I mean the Switch is a popular console, and since it’ll be much more powerful, we could see a lot of third party ports of games that missed Switch like Guilty Gear, Resident Evil’s remakes, etc. Heck, considering that the original was GameCube exclusive, it’d be neat if Resident Evil 4 remake was a launch title.

Yep, we're finally confirmed a switch successor soon. Our prayers have been answered.

I think my biggest concern for a switch successor is whether or not they're gonna fix the issue of joy con drift. The switch is one of my favorite consoles, but they need to fix that for the next console's controllers. Other than that i'm pretty excited. I hope they make it about as powerful as the PS4 and hopefully they'll put Ghost of Tsushima onto it. I never had a PS4 but I've wanted to play that game for a while.

Honestly, I feel like there's very few ways Nintendo can screw up this launch. It honestly seems primed to be great for them. They're iterating on a console everyone has and enjoys, backwards compatibility seems all but confirmed because of that, and a ton of big blockbuster titles seem like they're just waiting in the wings to be it's launch titles. I'd say their biggest hurdles now are: 1) Pricing. If this thing is anything more than $399, I think people will have a harder time justifying buying it. And 2) Power. Don't get me wrong, no one is expecting 8K 120fps out of a hybrid console made by Nintendo...but they really have to convey its a significant JUMP from Switch to Switch 2. PS5 and Series X are STILL dealing with that issue since so many of their games were still playable and didn't look too different on PS4/Xbox One. If Nintendo can get those things right, I think their golden for another major console success. At least from my perspective right now.

It will be nice for me to able to consider picking up the Nintendo version of a 3rd party game expecting above 480- 720p and 25-30fps

I feel weird that the idea of a new Mario Party this holiday has me more excited than a new 3D Mario or Mario Kart

You always have solid inputs when it comes to Nintendo stuff. Some would call them wise words. You seem to have a calm and philoso-phical mindset.

I've been telling people to wait for OFFICIAL confirmation from Nintendo and NOT rumors or leaks! We don't know a thing about this system yet; we don't know if it'll even be called Switch 2, we don't know what its hardware is capable of, nor do we know the price and what games will be available. I had one since 2018, and it's been my most-played Nintendo system ever; I still play it often! I'd like to see more durable controllers and better online for this next system. Nintendo should also focus on making more new IPs with the new system.

Kinda makes me feel like I'm too late to get a Switch since this new console is gonna be announced soon. But I guess it'll still be worth it with the amount of games the Switch has, and as a new fan of Zelda and Metroid I'm gonna be just fine until then

If they confirm backwards compatibility and do a comparison with BoTW with noticeable differences, I might be convinced to buy it day one ngl. Obviously having a good launch lineup is good, I'm rooting for a Arms 2 and native Kingdom Hearts ports within the first 6 months personally, but seeing the last 2 Zelda games running at a consistent frame rate after all the hell the Zelda team went through to make those games work, would be so joyful for me.

im so excited for the switch 2 but I have to say the switch is gonna be a hard console to beat library wise. I’m thinking switch 2 launches with a new 3D mario, new mario kart, metroid prime 4, a zelda remaster, and a new animal crossing. this would definitely get a lot of momentum going for the switch 2.

I don’t think Pokémon factors in any of this. They always drop games for the current system even if a new one drops that same year

Hoping we hear something on Metroid Prime 4 otherwise that game is vaporware.

I just need the next mainline Mario gane to have the other characters be playable, all the characters are as capable as Mario and would be fun to play as with their unique.differences.

At least we still got the new Pokémon Legends: Z-A to look forward to before the Switch successor revealed. Metroid Prime 4 likely won't be coming to Switch after all.

I would put money on it's gonna be a 3D Donkey kong rather than Mario, reputable leakers keep saying it's coming. Maybe somehow Mario and donkey kong?

They are not going to show anything this year , they are focusing on the switch this year. Only thing they doing next year is announcing it's successor . It's going to release around the same time as ps5 and XSX mid gen upgrade

Very much hoping they won't flunk up the launch with anything that we could chalk up as a "Nintendo-move" (like well, keeping certain odd decisions or flaws from Switch intact) - though remembering now how there was a promise of Nintendo-accounts allowing you to keep your data between the systems is giving me more eagerness to transition on this upcoming successor without much fuss. Still wondering when we'll see eventually see Metroid Prime 4 too...

I just hope that Sakurai works on a New IP or Kid Icarus Deluxe and It will be the first Nintendo system without a Super Smash Brothers. Because i retired from smashing

I feel like it won't just be a more powerful Switch but also it will be a Switch with 2 screens and on TV it's like a Wii U while on Handheld it's like a giant 3DS so that way Wii U and 3DS games they would have trouble porting would be way easier to since now it's 2 screens.

The biggest question remains: when will the switch 2 trailer drop? I think I already figured it out in less than 12 hours from the tweet. I believe the trailer will be dropped at February 2025 for there will be no mainline direct at all. We will see both June and September directs for 2024.

As far as future titles go for the next system. I’m really looking forward to the next 3D Mario, the new Mario Kart, and hoping they have a new game for Donkey Kong & Star Fox🙏🏼

I bet that, even if the next console is thrice as powerful as the Switch; Gamefreak's games are still gonna get worse and worse.

I want the Switch successor to be at least more powerful like the PS4, have themes, have a better Home Menu, have a better Life Battery that last 6 to 7 hours, have better Joy-Cons that don’t drift and i don’t want Nintendo to do the same mistake they did with the Wii U with it’s marketing
