The Nord Grand 2 has arrived!! I am so excited to announce the arrival of the beautiful Nord Grand 2 into my studio! Here is a quick instrumental of one of my original songs sampling three of the many wonderful sound programs on the Nord Grand 2. There are three programs that are a part of this song, A:11, A:15, and G:45 and utilize the beautiful White Grand, the new String Quintet sound, and an absolutely gorgeous synth pad sound!
As you can imagine, I will be putting a lot of time into this new digital piano and producing as much content as I can for it. If that interests you, don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss any of the upcoming videos!

Hi Douglas, I have no words to say how beautiful that sound is and how awesome you played that autoral song. Could you please share which sounds I can combine in Nord Stage 4 to have this same Patch that you made in this video, including the EQ of each sound?

Aren't the sounds eg White Grand, String Quintet, available on pretty much every other recent Nord (I have a Stage 3 with those sounds)? If so why spend the money on the Nord Grand 2? Is the piano action so much better than eg the Stage 3?

Yes, the piano and sample sounds are the same ones you can use on the other Nords, so the sounds aren't really the differentiator with this piano. It comes down to the action (better than the Stage 3 and Stage 4 for piano playing) and some of the features you get over the previous models.

The action on this board is so over hyped, it isn’t the best kawhi action, I was in debate of getting a grand 1 and just got a piano 5, nord says nothing of changing action they just say it is improved don’t even know wtf that means so.

Congrats! But I gotta ask… since you also have a Yamaha YC88. How good is that Kawai keybed in comparison with the wooden keys action of the YC? Which in my opinion is one of the best keybeds I’ve played.

I think it's pretty close, but I haven't played them together yet. I'm traveling right now, but when I get back to the studio I'll be doing some side by side comparisons to get better informed!

Thanks! I've never been sponsored, but I do have companies send me equipment once in a while. In the case of the Nord Grand 2, I have a relationship with a company that has allowed me to get early access to the keyboard.

Last week I tried Nord Grand 1 in a store and I really wasn't impressed with the action🫤My Yamaha P115 has a better feeling action.

OMG....I have to play a P115 and I hate the action. It is slow and unresponsive. Try playing 32nd notes on it and it can't keep up.

@@jortepap Preferred Digital Piano Keybeds that I have played in order: 1) Kawaii SE11 2) Fatar TP40/Wood GH Wood ) - Doepfer PK 88. SL has a keyboard that used to use it. 3) Nord Grand / Kawaii - it's a lighter version of the SE11 keybed. 4) Nord Stage / Piano and others that use the Fatar non-GH keybed. 4.5) Korg higher end is almost the same as a stage but heavier. 5) Yamaha. I had an original Yamaha MOD 88 (early 2000) that had a nice keybed but it was a very heavy keyboard. One thing that is common with quality, is the weight. The heavier the keybed, the better it will be. That said I do not gig with my Nord Grand or Kawaii (75lbs) because they are too heavy to schlepp around town. I usually gig with a Nord Stage at 35lbs. If it's piano only, then I bring the PK88 which is 75lbs. that 40lb difference is the lead weights used in the keys. Yes, I am a keybed nerd. The p115 is an ok keybed but too slow for me. But at 35lbs, it's gig worthy for a piano. I like the yamaha piano sounds over korg.

@@BigHairyCrankare you talking about the kawai mp11se? If so that uses the grand feel action. The nord grand uses the RH3 action which is the plastic action from kawai.

@@masonjahncke7844 Yes, you are correct. The RH3 is also 30 lbs lighter, hence the plastic. The MP11SE is a dream to play but very heavy and much taller. GFA is very good. Any keybed is about compromise. Weight vs. feel.
