Since there's some comments I'll address a few things In case you're wondering why I didn't talk about jontron saying bad things on a stream its because I would have nothing original to contribute (99% of people who clicked on this knew what happened) and also charity fraud is just 10 times funnier than racism. Jirard bragged so much about how he contributed to charity that it wrote itself. I Could have made a joke about jontron loving white people. But I didn't. Oh well! Again with projared, you know he had grooming allegations, I can't really add anything original except making a throwaway joke that I didn't make. There have been video essays about that specific topic, if you care about that part of him, it's out there. Like I said in the beginning, this isn't really about a history of normalboots, I just wanted to talk about what I wanted to with normalboots, and I didn't feel like talking about racism or grooming, and yes, charity fraud is hilarious. You have a moral compass, I don't have to tell you that racism or sexting your fans is bad. I trust in your own decision making abilities! Yeah it's easier to look at jontron and be like yeah he's an idiot bigot but makes funny videos, while TheCompletionist it's like- oh thats just not as funny to laugh at him for that.

@@Polychi1998I can help with this. When a creative person get better at what they do they’ll sometimes hate what they made previously. He just views his stuff not really good anymore. Many still like his older stuff, but for him he don’t view it since he grown so much then.

My god people sleep on Continue crazily. They have insane knowledge and skills with content and equipment, a vast knowledge of film and are absolutely hilarious. And the fact that they’re so far from drama yet respectful of their fans and people who interact with them, Paul Nick and Josh deserve it all.
Fun fact: I started being a caddicarus fan because of normal boots. I had never heard of him and didn’t know he existed until he appeared in Madness season 3 (the best “newer” normal boots show) so yeah, weird way to find the Cash Banooka guy

These guys were in their prime when I was in high school and I remember this is when I felt like I had officially outgrown the “nostalgic game review” sub genre that I had been watching since AVGN and Screwattack. Now I’m watching someone who grew up watching them as a child look back nostalgically on them as a childhood memory. Jesus fuck I feel old……
21:02 I glad I'm not the only one who noticed the voice overs, it always felt off when the person narrating it didn't sound like themselves. I guess the guy who the videos made the person narrating do 100 takes to make it sound like a professional voice over he how highly edited the way it sounds.
Much love for talking about the hardcore series I was glued to that series when I was younger I would get so hyped when new episodes and seasons would drop wondering what other creators would show up in future seasons
Honestly PBG was the only NormalBoots member besides early JonTron I watched every upload of. The G-Files series is what originally got me hooked and I've been a fan ever since!! I either watched some of the channels mentioned for a small bit before moving on, never did or they had drama attached that repulsed me from trying them again. The whole Did you know gaming mother's day 6 hour video drama was what stopped me from watching them besides growing out of the content they did at the time. Out of the newer/ revived NormalBoots I only watched Chadtronic and that was only semi regularly as his videos were a hit n miss for me especially when he started the commercial review series, which I find enjoyable now but I didn't when they first came out. It was truly an era and I still think about the original Normalboots logo everytime I click on an old PBG video to rewatch.
I was the same. PBG and Jon could make any topic interesting to watch, whereas I didn't really want to watch a completionist episode of a game I didn't really have much interest in. It wasn't till I was quite a bit older that I would start watching ProJared, and I think that's because I became mature enough to want to listen about all the old obscure games he would make videos on. DidYouKnowGaming was entertaining way back in the day, but going back to those old videos now you can tell how poorly researched a lot of them were. Their modern content is much better. Continue was just, like, there i guess. They never interested me as kid, and still really don't today. From what I can tell it seems like it's just unedited let's plays. Out of the newest batch of creators, the only ones I ever watched were ProtonJon and Chadtronic. ProtonJon is hardly even a youtuber anymore, and Chad seems to have moved mostly away from gaming centric content, sort of similar to JonTron. Also Chad strikes me as a somewhat morally bankrupt person, just from what I've seen on twitter.
I have been a fan of Continue since like 2011. They are still a favorite to go back to -- it feels like they are alwaya around. Lots of in jokes. Their podcasts (especially the one Josh did called Fantasy Fiction with Dom where they told stories) got me through so many days at the factory I worked at.
fuck i miss when i watched all those british minecraft youtubers. they were all so quirky and funny because their personality was that they're british while they played minecrap.

The ones I watched and the amount I watched them were very much like your own (including the "guess I gotta watch Jon's old videos instead" thing). ProtonJon does way better on streaming. He does so pretty regularly and has a good fan community. One thing that is neat about them is that he will go over everyone’s fanart at the end of stream.
PBG was always my favorite growing up so I’m happy to see he’s still going strong. But I was a fan of Jared, Jirad, and Jon so it’s sad to see what happened to them
That does not make you stop many creators have been screwed over after any sort of action an then moved past it like what if your current fan tuber got canceled for 3 days would you burn every memory of them
@@senritsujumpsuit6021 I never said I was going to throw out all the memories I had watching them while growing up. I just don’t watch their videos anymore because they barely upload nowadays, and the controversies surrounding them didn’t turn me away from their channels.

Excellent retrospective. I watched a ton of PBG and JonTron in college, never got into Continue because it was just a let's play, ProJared was a charisma vacuum, I watched a bit of The Completionist but he wasn't very funny either. Then, I got into HiddenBlock, which was like a low rent NormalBoots and Space Hamster was like a low rent PBG, watched a bit of BrutalMoose until he started doing weird food reviews, I think there was another ugy there called YungTown that did really off-the-wall humor?
Man the old ScrewAttack music hit me like a truck. PBG is just about the only creator from NormalBoots I still watch, his old and new videos have a special place in my heart. A new Minecraft Hardcore or another series like it would be awesome! Maybe if I can gather enough people to try it maybe I'll start something.

Thank you for bringing up Jirad’s bad deeds and how comedically bad it has aged the dating sim but if you’re gonna call him out for it you miiiiiiight wanna consider at least mentioning that one thing with Jon. It’s was a preeeeeetty big moment I think. Outside of that I think this video has been pretty good! I knew of the lesser known normal boots members but I didn’t have much interest in them back then. After hearing you talk about them I kinda feel like I missed out on them, especially Satch!
a lot of that was that was shown to be not accurate or just exaggerated to sound like it was only him I remember way back his ex was so aggressive towards him online her replies wanted basically to kill him sounds like a two sided woops we should just part ways time
@@Hawkatana Jared was a universal polyamery break up made public which no one had the right to attack them for and the second was shown with proper logs to have been a bit of for thought lapse that was used by the supposed victim to start accusations before fleeing via deleting account

kinda funny you mention protonjon here. he had a co-op channel called the runawayguys but one of the members got unfairy cancelled eafly this year. they had this charity thing where they raised money and they did it again this year under a different name. jirard was actually involved in previous years but not this one
I'm not sure about unfairly, but definitely unfortunate considering that Chugga was apparently some months into therapy getting help for tendencies when all this came out about him according to NCS
@@EmeraldMan25 all of this was settled privately and chugga was already getting help before then. Lady Emily just got petty cause people called chugga wholesome. the thing is Lady Emily is also known for harassing SA victims so I kinda think she is a horrible person who should get off the internet forever. Chugga is just 100% innocent it's basically undeniable
He apologized pretty well. He got heated, said something he KNEW at the time was a mistake, and feels regret and embarrassment about it. Disavows those views, never touched political content again. What more do you want? If you insist people can't apologize and become better, they will have no reason to try and just become worse. His error was speech alone, on a single stream. It was also predicated on misleading and flawed statistics. The fact that people bring it up STILL is nice, because it means JonTron hasn't made a single mistake that was more severe, or uncorrected. Practically a saint compared to Arin, Jirard, or anyone else who cut ties to Jon.
@@ArchSchizo From what ive seen he never outright took back what he said, just said that he isn't racist and that people should have open discussion about race. Look I know it has been 7 years since this incident and saying that it's not possible that he changed would be hypocritical of me; I just think you can't state explicit xenophobic ideas like that and take them back like that. At least with PewDiePie it's understandable that it may have been an outburst and there wasn't racist intent, but saying Mexicans come to the US and live off welfare and giveouts and that the us should maintain a white majority are explicit beliefs. You're free to look past these and likewise I also have the choice to not support him after using my own judgement.
Interesting walk down memory lane. I actually used to watch a lot of ProtonJon’s streams back in the day. I stopped watching after Rosa-Jon became a huge part of the channel though.
