I agree with you, I have this in black and it's perfect for my use case. I actually got it because I didn't want to use a bigger one I have that I use for my laptop. I needed this exact size and I'm so happy with it. It's small, yes but that's the whole point. It helps me move more swiftly and it's not incredibly disappointing, it's incredibly functional. The review sounded so biased I couldn't even finish watching it, it was informative for the pockets and features though.
I was thinking the exact same thing during the cons of the bag. Just because it doesn't work for one person doesn't mean it's terrible for everyone. It's like trying to fit a square peg into a circle. Smh. One sided review.
I grabbed the orange and blue one (which looks way better than this weird yellow IMO - also I’m an Auburn grad so I kinda had to) and it’s a great little bag. Holds my iPad mini, Nintendo switch, wallet, AirPods, the side expanding pouch just barely holds my 15 pro max and the bungee cords hold my water bottle snug. It’s big enough for an airport companion without being bulky like the Victorinox backpack I used to use as a companion bag for the plane.
I have both this sling and the borealis backpack, I use it across my chest while I wear the borealis backpack when I travel through airports. I put all my cables, passport, wallet, and odd stuff in the sling. To be honest it's the perfect small personal bag to bring with your larger carry on backpack. I also tend to use this backpack as a day bag when I'm traveling internationally and I don't need to carry too much. I got it for $38 on sale, so if you can get a good deal on it I would highly recommend this sling if you want a small additional bag for travel.
This bag is meant for petites or kiddos. I bought it bec it reminds me of my mini Vera Bradley backpack that I got. I wanna carry as lightweight as possible. Not for tall or hefty fellas out there but it's for me. 😁
Great review. Just what I needed to know. I have a galaxy tab s9, slightly smaller then the ipad 11inch. So it should fit. Strap lenght is a bit of an issue, but not detrimental. It fits a market niche, bigger than a fanny pack, smaller then a backpack.
This sint supposed to be a bag for a big iPad it's perfect for me to put my wallet my headphones my power bank my glasses and a bottle of water it's awesome
This sling would look awkward of you are a tall person. Too tight for 6ft tall peeps. I'm luckily just 5'2.and fits just fine. Love it and use it for our annual Disneyworld trips.✨😍🙆
Could this work as a chest rig for like small basic tools like small flashlight screwdrivers wire cutters im a trucker and i dont really want to spend to much or do you still not recommend this bag for that?
It totally depends how big you are as a person. I’m being very serious when I say that this bag is meant for very small people. The actual strap itself is very tiny too. Not just the main compartment. Wherever you buy it from, just make sure you understand the return policy in case you find the bag too constructive and small
If I was looking for a cheap chest bag for some small tools I’d honestly grab the mountainsmith trippin Fanny. amzn.to/3NBqu8C I love this bag. Wears well as a crossbody or Fanny. But maybe you want something more organized - so the vanquest dendrite is epic and less floppy.
My top two recommendations would be the Day Sling Max 3 from Aer and the Vanquest Dendrite. If you want to go super cheap get a Trippin Fanny from MountainSmith
To be completely honest I just purchase this sling bag and I'm a minimalist I understand it doesn't have as much room as its competitor altar but again the bag is made for a specific reasons for specific people and specific situations I like it I can't wait to use the hell out of it and no matter what its North Face it's going to last you a lot longer than majority of these sling bags you can purchase online
Is the strap adjustable? I see this as more of a sling Fanny pack due to its size, I got it because I was in the market for a small Fanny and I saw this and wanted to make sure it’s as small as it looked
I was considering this bag to carry water, snacks, extra gloves and a goggle lense while skiing. i want something small so i’m not turned away by that, i just can’t tell if it will be secure enough on my back. does it bounce around while walking/running or does it stay tight on your back? thanks for the help and the informative review!
It will be very tight. The strap is too small too, not just the size. My advice is to buy it from a place with a good return policy in case it is too small for your torso.
Just ordered one today, as I want something for a minimalist carry for a couple small action cams, an iPad Mini 6, a few cables, a small external SSD, and a power bank. Other than that, I may shove a poncho in the bungee space and add a really narrow water bottle. For such a keep-it-small-and-task-specific function, I can leave my bigger bags at home. And not be tempted to take a bunch of extra or a big camera, which would happen if I did grab a bigger bag. And when I travel for business, with a Gregory Compass 40L on my back, this thing can sling around in front and be out of the way as I move through the airport. Appreciate the honest review, but maybe consider this an adjunct bag or a way to really enforce minimalist EDC.
I would think they made that one smaller than the other bad in their line up on purpose and for a specific segment that doesn't want a larger bag to carry larger tech items. Just my 2 cents...
I wanted to get this bag because 6L is exactly what I'm looking for for edc, but that strap length concerns me. Glad you did a review. Any recommendations for something in the 6L range.
I ordered two of these. I really wanted to like them. I returned them. Issues for me: 1. Strap is too short. It’s designed for a very small person. 2. Related to the short strap - strap pocket is mounted too high. If I put my phone in it, it practically sits on top of my shoulder. 3. Strap cannot be shifted for both left/right shoulder carry. 4. Padding on the back is overkill for this size bag. It makes it stiff and uncomfortable.
@@ThePerfectBag no just something for keys phone meds and gum ( small items ) I was drawn to this bag because of the water bottle pocket I’m using currently a lululemon waist bag ) and carry the water bottle seperately
Heck, maybe it's great for you. I just found the strap to be way too small and the entire setup to be a little underwhelming. If you only want something for very small items, and you have a small frame, give it a shot...but know your return policy! Here's a few other to consider: Mountainsmith Trippin' Fanny Pack (or lil fanny); Tomtoc EDC Crossbody Small; Kavu Rope Sling Bags; Kargo Waist Bag. Hope that helps! If you get it, let me know what you think!
The North Face is a "Buy It for Life" Brand. That's they their stuff costs so much. I have a North Face backpack and a Winter Coat. I've had both for over 20 and there's very little wear on both of them. I will keep doing my research but I have no problem buying a North Face bag for $60 because I know it will be the last bag I'd ever have to buy.
Interesting. I’m not sure that The North Face feels like a Buy it For Life brand anymore to me. I think Patagonia certainly does…..not so sure about TNF anymore. But maybe I’m wrong. I’ve tested quite a few of their bags lately and found them to be fun but not high quality.
I’m here because I’m a bag guy ever backpack, messenger bag and sling i have serves a different purpose and I came across this on eBay and before buying it I wanted more information
Being a bag hound myself, can’t tell you enough how helpful your reviews are. Since the purchases for me are mostly online, I gotta see what’s going on with a bag first. And you do it well. Thank you!
I love the Borealis line. Personally, I think your review was harsh, this bag caters to folks wanting something small for certain activities like amusement parks or jogs - you want to carry light and you’re not carrying tech like laptops or iPads. I love this bag!
I want to get this bag to use as a bag i could just throw my water bottle umbrella phone a packable jacket in if I’m on vacation and just going a short distance for a few hours and don’t need to have a lot with me
@@ThePerfectBag good to know because I’ve had slings where the strap didn’t cinch close enough to my body and was too loose and didn’t stay in place if I slung it over shoulder to go around back it would end up at my side but as u said this would be more suitable for a kid than adult i like the size because I don’t always need a tablet or a Nintendo switch with me I’d use this for when I’m wearing sweatpants or shorts with no pockets and only need my wallet phone and keys
Really not seeing the problem, the bag is small and all of the pics posted depic that, they even had picture of someone wearing it.. I mean what more could you need for an informed decision. The other backpack you showed it's huge that's looks almost full sized
It is a small bag? It is advertised as a small bag? If you want a small bag it is a viable option? You should review it based on what it is advertised for? North Face has a bunch of other bags that compete with the larger bags. I think your needs or wants really over shadow this review. Not a good purposeful review.
Thanks for watching! The official descriptions say that the bag is ideal for tablets. The Borealis bag (the other bag from The North Face to bear this name is a fairly large backpack. Exact wording on Amazon from The North Face: “MAXIMUM STORAGE. With a pocket for phones and additional space dedicated for tablets, this sling prioritizes storage capacity.”
