You do great reviews, but it seems like every backpack review I have seen, the pack is black which makes seeing the features difficult. Whenever possible, you should try to use lighter colored ones. Nonetheless, I really think you reviews are great.
when u put school things in it does the whole backpack slump or stay flat ? like no matter how m u stuff u put in it hope u understand i have a backpack from pink and it thin and it tends to slump or stuff pokes out
Love these backpacks. My husband and I have owned a couple of them in the past. I just ordered two new ones, one in summit gold and black and one in blue and black. I paid $70 each at Dick's Sporting Goods. I couldn't resist the vivid colors. Our previous ones were all black, so it will be a nice change. I absolutely love the versatility and the size of these packs. We don't want or need anything huge, just something for when we travel that can carry our water bottles and essential items that we want to have on hand at all times. It also fits my 13-inch MacBook Pro perfectly. They are great for hiking as well.
Hahah - SBS is actually a pretty good zipper manufacturer. They've been able to provide good zipping for a long time (not as much as YKK obviously), but definitely a reputable zipper company. - Ed
Hehe you noticed! :D We didn't have enough beers to do our review this time for the Jester - but I can confidently say it did fit four 6-packs when we tested it after! :) - Ed
I own this backpack, I use it at school, but I just can't get it to stay up straight. If I put it down, it falls over to the back side, and if I lean it against the side of my desk it slides down onto its back, has anyone else had this same problem?? Or is it just me?
Hmm the bag doesn't have a flat and rigid base so falling on its side is a natural thing. You'd need to lean it against a wall with the front facing the wall. That's the best way to keep it upright :) Hope that helps - Ed
I think there is an updated model , because the Jester I just bought (Aug 2020) has a few different tweeks , and not all good IMO . The bag in video actually looks a bit better in quality
Hi Nicole, you could try searching on eBay, Amazon, or Facebook groups. Additionally, it might be worth reaching out to the manufacturer directly. They might be able to provide you with more information regarding the availability of older models. Best of luck with your search! Cheers
Just watched your updated TNF Borealis review and this one and they're both extremely informative! I'm a bit torn on choosing the Borealis or the Jester and there's a site where I can get the Borealis for 10 Euro more than the Jester. Which one would you recommend on getting? Also was wondering if the Borealis was wider/thicker than the Jester. Cheers for the review and the input!
Great question! The best way to compare the two bags is the features and compartments. The Borealis has 3 main compartments (organisation, large cargo, laptop) whereas the Jester only has two (organisation, large cargo + laptop). Here are the dimensions of the bags: Jester: 50 x 34 x 19 cm Borealis: 50 x 34 x 25 cm Some things that the Borealis has that the Jester doesnt': - A top fleece-lined compartment - Removable waist strap - Compatibility with a hydration bladder - More dedicated device protection (tablet, laptop) So even though the have a very similar volume capacity (28/29), the Borealis has much more organisation. On top of that, the Borealis typically has more hard-wearing materials in the construction. Check out the Rushfaster links in the descriptions for more details! Hope that helps! :) - Ed
Most stockists should mention if it is women's or mens. And when purchasing in-store, there's a tag on the women's bag that distinguishes it as a "Women's" bag. - Ed
I have one from 2017, but the side pockets are so shallow they're almost unuseable! But at the same time I can't justify spending $70 to get a new backpack just for sidepockets.
i would definitely recommend a different bag. i have a 32oz and when i had school books/binders in there it was impossible to fit mine in there. it would only fit in if the bag was empty :(
I know this video is old but if anyone does see this, does anyone know where I could buy this Jester design? I don’t really dig the new design of the jester and I can’t find ANYWHERE this Jester design.
I have the same backpack but in black and yellow and I didn't knew that the straps are adjustable, or that I can fit a jacket on the back, or that there is even a bike light loop until I saw this video. Thanks for all these info!
Yes I'd say it would, it's possible that at first it might seem a bit tight-fitting. But typically over time the tightly fitted ones eventually start fitting better. Hope that helps! - Ed
Great and very organized video; I think TNF should reward you with big money :) What I did not find on this backpack is a hip belt for when you fill it with heavy stuff on far away hikes. Is that correct?
Hmm someone else asked this question as well - I'm not super familiar with the Cryptic. I'd lean towards the Jester in general as it's a core product on the TNF backpack line. Although the Cryptic does look good. There doesn't seem to be a huge difference in features either. - Ed
Hmm good question. I'd typically say yes for a 15" screen, but it seems most of Lenovo's Legion series have bigger bases than their screens. To be extra sure I'd ask TNF about the Jester and provide the laptop dimensions for them to check. Hope that helps! - Ed
Update: I got the backpack (women’s version) and it does fit. I would say though any bigger and it won’t fit. Thanks for your review, it helped me decide to get this bag!
Wow, guys, your videos are really high quality. A definite subscribe from me, exited to see this channel grow. I've got a couple of feedback points, tho. Please try to share some concerns you have and possible drawbacks of the items you're looking at. Right now it feels like you're just selling these things, but if you also serve up critique in these videos, you'll feel like more of a trustworthy source of info, and the RU-vid community might just come to you to see whats *really* true about these items, as opposed to just going through the features and selling points as though you just want people to buy from your store. Also, some outdoor shots would be nice, just some varied b-roll would look great. Fantastic stuff, tho, guys. BIG UPPS.
Thanks for the sub San! Also thanks for the feedback. We're working on some of those improvements currently so hopefully you'll see them start to come in to the vids we release.
Hi excellent video !! I need your help I am in doubt between buying The North Face Jester Backpack and he North Face CRYPTIC. Could you help me? What's the best in your opinion

Thank you for taking the time to watch! This backpack is great, hopefully, they can add a molle system in their next iteration. I'm sure it would make it even better. Cheers!
Hey there! The Jester can accommodate up to 16" laptops in its laptop compartment, 17" laptops should fit just fine in the main compartment though :) - John
Great review! I bought this bag because it had a laptop slip instead of a whole separate compartment and I especially appreciate that you show the specific difference between the mens and womens packs. I'm curious if they are the same color, because the womens looks somewhat lighter in color than the mens
This is a tough one! They are almost identical if you exclude the front. Aesthetically, I'd choose the Vault (I'm not the biggest fan of the bungee cord look). Having said that - functionally speaking, the Jester has about 3 extra litres of volume capacity. All things considered I'd still choose the Vault :) Hope that helps! - Ed
Rushfaster jester or borealis? What do you recommend. Using it for school. Carrying laptop, 3 inch binder and notebook. Want to use it for all of highschool so 2 more years. Also for collegezd
^ does it make a huge differences? Because i accidentally bought the men’s version, and since its chiropractic endorsed, im guessing they specifically made it for women/ men. But im not sure about it
Great question! You can definitely use the mens one (a lot of women do), it's just that the Women's version is made specifically to better fit female body shapes. So if you did get the women's version, it might be more comfortable, but the technology in either of the backpack's harness system will take good care of your back and shoulders. Hope that helps! - Ed
Rushfaster Ahhhh i see ! Thanks for answering the question! Its been bothering me for quite some time. Since the backpack is quite pricey, I definitely want it to fit perfectly and last for a long time without hurting my back etc. I appreciate it 🥰
With the Jester you get 2 extra litres of volume space than the Pivoter. The main difference though is how you would use the front pocket, because on both these bags, the front pockets are very different. If you want the ability to quickly stuff a jacket away, get the jester, if you like security and an extra zippered compartment, get the Pivoter. Aesthetically - I'd go with the Pivoter. The bungie cord system sometimes looks a bit messy to me haha Hope that helps! - Ed
Really depends on how large that textbook is and what size the binder is. Generally speaking, they should fit in the bag, but if they're on the slightly bigger end, then it might be a bit of a squeeze. Hope that helps! - Ed
