I recommend that in the future there is more research performed before publishing such stories that minimize women.

People in the US know the name of Frederick Douglass but almost nobody knows he ran for vice president with a woman at the head of the ticket. Yes in the 1800s a white woman ran for president with a black man as her running mate.

It’s a disappointment that this program didn’t mention the Macroeconomic’s achievements made by AMLO. Increasing foreign investment, lowest unemployment rate in the history of Mexico, the trajectory of the mexican currency, worldwide known as “super Peso”, etc. Mexican economy is now in better position of economies such as Spain for example. Media has the responsibility to recognize all the above to AMLO,s presidency.

Hinojosa has a very superficial understanding of Mexican politics I’m not surprised since most Mexican Americans don’t live in Mexico anymore and are more focused on U.S. politics since they live there.

Abortion is already legal in Mexico. The Mexican Supreme Court issued a decision legalizing it.

Ok, this was a frustrating segment to watch. The analysis of both candidates was very superficial Claudia is NOT just the successor of AMLO. Yes, she has said that she will build upon what he accomplished, but she has her own project too. When she started her campaign, she outlined 100 proposals of how she will run the country, covering everything from security, to the environment, to women's issues, to inequality, to foreign investment, to infrastructure and much more. Let's not forget that she is a doctor in physics, she has been involved in social struggles since her student years, she was the major of Mexico City and has an ideological commitment with the Fourth Transformation of the country. So no, her campaign does not rely on "I'm a woman and if you disagree with me, you're misogynistic." If anything, saying that she does and that she solely relies on that, while erasing all of her proposals, is truly misogynistic! Xóchitl, on the other hand, only tries to exploit her womanhood and alleged indigenous background to do identity politics, but the parties that she represents are both right-wing. She is a business woman who placed both her children in her campaign, has been investigated for corruption with her companies, is on record saying that social programmes are a burden and create dependency, she scorned working people who have not been able to buy a home calling them stupid ("güey" is the word she used), and even try to attack Claudia Sheinbaum on the basis of her Jewish ancestry. But when it comes down to her national project, you get nothing, she is not proposing anything, except a return to the failed neoliberal project that Mexicans voted out of power in 2018. And then they wonder why over 60% of Mexicans prefer Claudia...

La señora Hinojosa es una persona informada e inteligente, sin embargo se queda muy corta al abordar los problemas y los avances de México. No todo se reduce al feminicidio y la violencia; sería importante que su audiencia estuviera al tanto de las políticas sociales de AMLO que, ni mucho menos, se reducen a los apoyos a los trabajadores y trabajadoras. El combate a la pobreza tuvo avances que nunca antes se habían logrado; el estado actual de la economía es, igualmente, impresionante después de las constantes crisis que nos persiguieron en las últimas décadas. Las grandes obras de infraestructura han cambiado la estructura económica de todo el Sureste. Sería importante que su audiencia tuviera una visión más panorámica del país. And yes, Maria is right. Xóchitl is the Sara Palin of Mexico.

Hinojosan Hinojosa is smart enough to know Galvez is not center left, but conservative outside of feminism. Only when asked about AMLO did Hinojosa at the end did she get off the identity only bus and mention decreased inequality as if it is a minor side issue. .Both sidism with a slant eye to the hated "populism" which has materially improved the plight of the poor in Mexico which is why Galvez and the combined parties of old regime are losing so badly.

I am disappointed in Democracy Now. Maria Hinojosa speaks with such authority, it’s embarrassing! This is so superficial it barely scratches the surface of this important election. Just another show of US indifference toward anything outside its borders. Maria didn’t even take her time to seriously research a bit on what is going on with Mexico’s elections! She could have at least watched a RU-vid video, one of the thousands that are played daily by Mexico’s independent media! There are so many good reporters that could have done a much much better job. That’s all Democracy Now can come up with?

Thank you for this segment. Other networks have shown zero effort or interest in covering this very important election. Given how much the U.S. complains about the border, given that México is our number one trading partner, and given that Mexico is about to elect its first female President (who is of Jewish ancestry) you would think these networks would at least make an effort to cover this election. But they don’t. They focus 100% Trump, Israel, and Ukraine. While those are important topics, they’re not the only topics happening in the world that also have a major impact on the United States. Watching Democracy Now or Al Jazeera is so refreshing. It’s also obvious just how much the mainstream networks purposely ignore.

There is an abysmal difference between the two candidates, Claudia has been since teenager a human right defender VS Sochitl member of Fox government, that was put as candidate by the international right movement to opposed Claudia. Bottom line international intervention!

She has said the she admires and respect her dad because he was a great man, and when it's convenient, she says the opposite, that he was an alcoholic and abusive father. She said she's Catholic, and at the same time, she is against it. She calls herself "Mexico's best engineer" when in fact, she has a computer's career, which is only a small area of engineering. She's a joke, a very bad joke.

AMLO will be remembered as one of if, not the best president of Mexico. He has put in place many social net programs that are especially directed towards helping the indigenous and poor segments of the population. We are so very proud of him. We love him. ❤ ❤❤❤

Will all the problems, a reduction of Mexicans coming to the U.S., and the strongest currency in decades tell that the current Mexican president is doing some things right. Claudia Sheinbaum has all the experience, education and vocation for public service to do great things for the country, but what really caught my attention was when she mentioned that her goal for the country is a "Shared Prosperity".
