Friendly reminder that the ancestors of Northern Europeans used to routinely cross this sea in what were essentially just really long wooden rowboats. Keep that in mind whenever you're feeling "tough".
sorry in advance... ok as a sailor these huge boats have a retractible keel that can be lowered to prevent side ship.(capsizing or falling over). these boats are designed for this weather and the people on them are equipped so that they are safe. these huge waves are usually in the middle of a storm or heavy wind/gusts so this vid is kinda dramatic.
True. There are a few deaths on these boats and ships, but surprisingly they arent any higher than the deaths in other fields (construction, farming etc)

friend is reporter and was on a fishing boat for two days. second day she lost a finger to those heavy metal doors swinging and cutting it off. very important rule is to always(!)close the doors propperly. living on a ship is kinda living on another planet and talking to sailors is like learning a new language :D
I think the only reason people say the northern seas are the most dangerous is because a lot of shipping lanes pass through them. This could all easily be footage from the far southern seas as well. The southern latitudes of the 40s and 50s have a reputation for a reason
