Had a really cool little Asatru group in my area for a couple years. As time went on, we merged with another group and they were all cool too. Then there seemed to be some drama which i have no idea the details of, and original members moved away, and new people moved in that were... Not good people. So i stopped associating woth them. It's been about 10 years now and just randomly saw your video just now. Glad to hear a healthy community still exists out there. 😊
There are many healthy communities that mostly keep to themselves. You can probably find some good heathens in your area by asking around on our Discord server. It is very unique and welcoming place of learning.
I know that his is an older youTube Video but, I'm hoping you're still monitoring the comments. Hail from Northern Nevada! Another Northern Heathen here not currently involved with any group or kindred. I lived for many years in the Northeastern Washington, North Idaho area. I've noticed in the comments below that you have mentioned a Discord channel I would be very much interested in joining your Discord. What is your take on The Norroena Society?
I don't really have a take on them, I haven't looked very much into the major groups out there. Our discord is in the linktree up in the banner. Looking forward to chatting with you further.
I was raised with a mixture of Christian beliefs and Native American teachings, which honestly contradicts one another in many ways. I’ve always felt a pull towards the native side I feel more “ spiritually “ connected to the world. I’m compelled to ask did you have a Christian background and if so what made your mind up to change your perspective and beliefs? Enjoying the content. Definitely thought filled, much née change for my usual content viewing.
I did start as a Catholic but I turned away because the myths didnt resonate with me and everyone seemed to be ritous in public and degenerates in private. To me that means they dont believe in their own god, his wrath, or his supposed rules. So then, why should I? So I found my gods by paying attention to the world around me. That was over 30 years ago.
@@northwoodskindred I left Catholicism/Christianity in the Spring of 1978. CCD class one Sunday evening, guest instructor was a Jesuit. His topics for the class, after he told our regular instructors to leave: reincarnation/past life meditation and human auras/energy filed. how to feel and direct them.
for some reason I am more drawn to Asatru and the Scandinavian faith, even though I am from Siberia. and my gods should be Slavic, but I am drawn closer to you, what does this have to do with?
I'm so happy I came across your channel. I'm trying to reach Gothi status to support my military unit and honor the gods in any way I can. Any assistance would be great
Tbh I'm on a journey with religion I've always been a non believer but I'm unhappy with myself my life and where's it going so I've decided to learn about many religions and see what one calls to me and help me mend my mind and soul so I can be happy for once in a really long time
Thank you, and absolutely. Join our discord channel. The linktree is in the banner. It is a no drama learning place open and free to everyone. If you want to get ahold of me, just tag me in a question or comment, and I'll jump on when I can. If you prefer a private chat, drop me a message there. Welcome to our community.
I’m new to this way of life been studying Asatru for about 6 months now came across y’all on TikTok I love what y’all are doin keep up the good work I always learning from your videos thank you and for your service
We only have one kindred (the Northwoods Kindred), here in Idaho. We are not a national organization. We do have a Discord server where other kindreds gather and there you may find one from your area. Linktree is in the banner.
Hello I am a newer follower of Asatru and I just turned 18 and I am super confused and lost, once I told people i was Pagan/Asatru I was called a racist and offensive and im not any of those at all quite the opposite really, I just feel lost and really just wanna know more so I can disprove the whole racist thing to show people the peaceful side of our religion, I hope your channel can help me
Understand that simple and ignorant people cling to simple and ignorant ideas. They will never see the beauty, inclusiveness and joy in a heathen or pagan path. Let them rot in their hate, you dont owe any of them an explanation. Their ignorance is their problem. Be warned that there are organizatiins that embrace racist and bigoted ideas in Asatru. Be wary of any organizations and do research before joining or aligning with them. Welcome here.
One question about my offerings I usually let the fruit and vegetables stay on the plant and let the animals pick from what is left should that be done or should I build an altar
Glad to have come across your channel. I am a solitary practitioner ( only because the only groups I've found prefer politics to spirituality and kinship). I hope the Gods will someday bless me with like minded people too. It's heartwarming to watch your kindred together. Thank you for sharing your kindreds journey.
Thank you for going on this journey with us. We have many more exciting gatherings and outings in the plans so share This with any heathens or pagans that you think might need a little inspiration 😉.
Stumbled on your channel its like it was ment to be. I've been following the wiccan witch path for about a year I've been studying it for about 10 plus years. Lately feeling down about it and a bit overwhelmed or underwhelmed not sure. My husband has always been interested in this route, so I've been doing more research but we are both lost as heck as the moment. We just moved to Virginia from San Diego on orders (former navy him still active). I guess we are just looking for a community at the moment. And no real idea on how to start searching or where to start on this new path. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated greatly. I look forward to your videos. And if you ever need a few extra crayons for a snack we got you 😀.
I've been a Christian for a very long time, but something felt off about it, like I wasn't connecting to anything. I'm still looking, but hopefully something or someone calls out to me.
My best advice would be to look at the pieces of your prior religion that do speak to you. Research where those come from and you will find the root and many more. Nothing in Christianity is original, it was all taken and reworked from a much older and true pagan paths. Good luck on your journey.
One could say the very same thing about pagan religions. Truth of the matter is: the same deities have appeared in different cultures under different names: Hel and Hades are one and the same. Same for Seth and Loki. They are all fallen beings who are tricking mankind right into the abyss. As Anton Lavey said “there is no distinction between white or black magick”. The source of power is one, which is satan himself. He knows fully well that wanting power is one of the most prevalent human traits, and so he gives generously, just so that people keep away from the truth. To say Christianity copied other religions just goes to show how very little you actually know, truly. Jesus is the only way to salvation. Satan can give you nice things here on earth. Pleasures abundant, yeh, but at the very cost of your soul.
Hail, friend. I’ve been looking for a local kindred for a few days. I have identified as a Norse pagan for a long time and have been immersing myself more these past few months but still have much to learn. Are you based in or near CDA? I don’t use Facebook so I thought I’d reach out in your comments.
@@Jerkwilkesbooth Facebook right now and we have a blog but we are just getting it going. We just decided to step into public view this year. Trying to get everything up and running now. All of our current links are up in the banner.
You can't be a Norsa pagan, but you can be a Murican pagan all you want. ;-) ... Also, I think "pagan" is a incorrect word, Asetro is more correct (and not "Asatru", as some like to spell it), Asatru is the Icelandic way to spell/pronounce it, and for some reason many people think Icelandic way to pronounce and spell these words are the more correct way. There never was such thing as "Icelandic vikings". - During the viking era, Iceland was made up by Scandinavian colonies, and whatever words/names there was made that time, was made by those Scandinavian vikings. And the language spoken that time in Iceland was not "Icelandic", it was West Scandinavian & Insular Scandinavian. So I would argue, that the Icelandic way to pronounce those words/names, are actually incorrect. - I am from Denmark.
Would you happen to know of any kindreds in Illinois? New to Norse paganism and love researching it but would also be cool to actually learn from someone and take part
I hope this isnt incensitive at all, but when you clarify that you aren't racist or queerphobic, etc... is that because other similar religions are or is it because there are many other religions like that? I grew up in a "cult" so I dont know much about other religions. I've known about and loved norse mythology, but didnt realize that it is still in practice to this day so i just have a million questions and I hope im not rude at all, im just not very knowledgeable at the moment about non-Christian religions.
Not rude at all. If you are new here ill help all I can. There are many fringe groups within Asatru / Norse paganism that hold to some made up belief that this faith is only for pure descendents of European or Nordic blood. But that doesent extend to people of that blood line who have alternative lifestyles that they also disagree with. We just wanted to be upfront and right out of the gate that we do not subscribe to any of that hate or gatekeeping BS. This community is not always safe for everyone but we are, and we created a space where everyone is allowed to contribute and learn. Consider joining if you want to learn more. discord.gg/8pkTEnNtRY
You are very welcome, and welcome here, not sure which althing you are attending bur we will not be there. We attended and even hosted althings with the Asatru Alliance far in the past. We parted ways with them over safety issues that Valgard was unwilling to address to my satisfaction.
Is this actually legit? Not trying to sound rude but just curious. Also if you guys are real about this, how do you guys take a modern perception on going to Valhalla? Also thank you for your service brother. I admire veterans very greatly. Hopefully I’ll join the AF after college
I don't concern myself with the afterlife. That will take care of itself, and anything that we think we know is most likely wrong. I focus on the reason that we are here, to learn, teach and grow.
Is there any way I could get a mjolnir. Crafted by you guys or is that just for the Northwoods ,I don't feel comfortable buying one online dosnt seem right ,if not it's ok give me advice to make my own
@@northwoodskindred awesome I don't feel bad buying it from you and Bodvarr as I feel like it being hand made is more authentic and honours the gods more then something off Amazon ..thank you again Skogul!!
Hello, I just wanted to say that your video makes me feel more welcome and happy about being part of this amazing journey. I always felt subconsciously about being mix and not coming from Scandinavia decent to follow this amazing calling, but it has made me feel confortable that people like you accepts others like me to practice this amazing gift from the gods to us. I am greatful that you have made this video and this channel to spread the word that this is not a racist practice but one that brings many people together. Thank you!
Thanks for the comment and welcome here. Unfortunately it doesent matter what we say or what kind of example we set. The ignorant will always seek confirmation bias and to them this path will always be whatever they have already decided. We will just keep doing it and hopefully educate some that have not yet made up their minds. Share this wherever you can if you want to help on that mission. Again, welcome here.
Email me @ Northwoodskndr@gmail.com if you give me your number, I will try and call Tomorrow if not tonight.....I already have 2 people ahead of you to call tonight, so depending on how long those take it might be tomorrow.
Is it true that Asatru places no emphasis on ethnicity? Can a group of black people move to Iceland and become part of the Asatru religion? Is it okay if there are no north Europeans in the Asatru religion after 50-100 years?
Everyone is welcome in Norse paganism and they don't need to go to Iceland in order to join or start a kindred. if there are no more Northern Europeans in Asatru after 50-100 years then we willingly abandoned our own history and culture, that would be a failure of Northern European descendants. No other races will have played any part or bear any blame in that personal failure.
@@northwoodskindred Thank you very much for the response. I have a couple more question if you don't mind. What is a kindred? Is it a local church of Asatru? Also, based on your previous response I understand that Europeans must remain part of the Asatru, because otherwise we will fail our ancestors. But if everyone is welcome regardless of ancestry, doesn't that mean that at some point in the future Asatrue will not be European anymore? Is it possible for Asatru to exist if there are no more Europeans in the world? Thank you!
@@user-oj3gb8nh2q a kindred is a collection of Asatru that have adopted each other as family and come together to honor the gods, ancestors and old ways. I don't really understand the rest of the question, specifically. Why would there not be any more northern Europeans in the world? Where would they have all gone?
@@northwoodskindred My questions about European people are hypothetical. I am trying to understand if native religions are inherently folkish. I would assume that native American religions are inherently native American, and they can't be practiced by European groups. Similarly, Japanese Shinto is also native to Japanese, and if you replace the Japanese with Africans, for example, then Shinto will stop being Japanese. Is that right? Is Asatru (or other native European religions) inherently folkish like Shinto or native Americans?
@@user-oj3gb8nh2q Sounds like you are making an argument in favor of gatekeepers in asatru, and I'll not entertain that. It doesn't matter who feels the call or who honors our gods. It takes nothing away from anyone else on the path. If we believe that our gods are the true gods and older than all others, then it is fair to assume that all peoples are descendant from Ask and Embla and the sons of Heimdall. If that assumption is wrong then the gods can weed their own garden. If they don't want certain people they can mage that. I will not entertain it nor argue in favor of any form of gatekeepers.
I dont think I know who you are, and certainly wouldn't be that rude to anyone without provocation. The Asatru faith is open to everyone and we are showing how to build what we have. We practice at my house and my land. That I'm afraid, is not open to everyone. There are a lot of undesirable people in this world and I am not in the habit of inviting random people off the internet into my home. There is a process to getting an invite after a thorough vetting but no one has a right to join our kindred. You do have a right to build one for yourself, and we are happy to show you how, and mentor you through the process.
@@daveraftus642 we just hit 1k here and as soon as they approve it we will start doing live streams and help people find d others and give some advice on doing that....where are you located?
@@daveraftus642 We are in North Idaho so attending a gathering is not really in question with a couple thousand miles of separation. We will help where we can, that is what this channel, out tiktok and our Facebook group are all about.
We welcome all to this path as do many heathens. We unfortunately do not speak for the whole of Asatru. There are many that strongly believe the opposite. Neither we nor them have any control over how the others behave. There are a lot of WS around and most likely will be for a long time. As for your personal belief, we are not recruiting for Asatru and the personal choices that you make regarding your path are for you alone. We are only on this platform to help guide those that are on this or a similar path and need a little head start. Be well.
You already established that you guys are not racist. However, I am curious about whether you guys have any other than Caucasian people in your "kindred"?? And if there's a pattern of the types seeking your kindred group... Myself, I am from Denmark, and one of the things we Scandinavians hate the most, is when "hate groups" around the world use our symbols for stupidity. - Great video by the way!
Hell yeah I would love to try and do the same thing but here in Texas the Christians tried to have me strung up and quartered definitely not friendly to anyone that wants to think different than what the church tells them
@samstapleton3739 I'm in West Central Arkansas and looking for others interested in this subject. Maybe creating our own group and doing what we would like to do .
as a queer heathen im incredibly, INCREDIBLY happy to learn about Asatru. i've been looking for years for an inclusive and safe practice like Asatru and i still can't quite believe it exists. my auntie is a wiccan priestess and my dad, while agnostic, has been celebrating the norse calendar since i was a small kid, so i really grew up immersed in pagan and heathen spirituality and ways of life. im so excited!!! thank you sm for this video, and happy midsummer!!
When I explained to them and their preacher told them that Christmas is really y'all and is a pagan holiday they straight up quit celebrating and giving gifts to their children
Agreed, racism is only for people that operate at the lowest possible human frequency. It adds no value or benefit to the human race, only pain and division.
I thought that I made it clear, we do not support gate keeping in Asatru at all. We support both of those ideas. We do not support the politics of Asatru. As soon as it becomes about anything other than the gods or the religion, I am tuning out. I am not here to clean up Asatru for one side or the other. I am here to show OUR way and hopefully inspire people to be more active in honoring our gods.
So to be clear, you support Declaration 127 and Declaration of Deeds, and would not associate with the AFA along with pushing back against folkist ideas in your own and wider community? I’m asking in good faith because I want there to be more anti-folkist heathen groups in the world that are a positive force in the community instead of having to add another name to the list of those to avoid. The PNW is a hotbed of neo-nazis and white supremacists and I would love for your group to be one that will not abide their presence at your events.
@@northwoodskindred so would you sign Declaration 127 and publicly denounce the AFA (Asatru Folk Assembly), who is a group that is publicly racist in their praxis?
@@blakeday1522 I will not sign the declaration because you accosting me here is directly against part V. (maybe go read it) It is a political document and I don't support any politics in this religion. As far as the AFA and other racist organizations go, They will never get our support either. I was speaking out against them long before those declarations were ever written. I have told McNallen to fuck off personally, not on some useless internet squabble. If that is not good enough for you then take your leave, I owe you nothing but respect. The fact is, the more you guys, bring this up for no reason the more you expose people to them. The only reason the AFA is even still alive is because you guys just wont let it die. You breath life into their organization every time you bring them up in new company. McNallen is living rent free in your head. PT Barnum said no press is bad press, stay in the headlines.
Uuuuhm ... that flag in the background on the right at 1:02 is quite literally the flag of the Nazi party in 1930s/40s Germany, but with the swastika being replaced by a Mjölnir. A red flag with a white circle in the middle and the symbol inside of it is black. If it is true what you say and you want nothing to do with all of that, you might wanna rethink using that. Cheers from Germany.
Interesting, you torture and murder his son ceremoniously canabalize him and eat his body and blood. And now you only have one god. We have many because we dont kill and eat them. You should be worried about your crimes not mine, we sacrifice to honor our gods, not to eat them. Enjoy your hell you zealot!
That doesn't mean that they aren't a racist organization. Steve McNugget has been a snake oil salesman and white supremist since the very beginning. It just means he as a good con going. And he passed the keys on to people just like him. This page is not for you or your type.
