The Wisdom of Odin is a vlog of my journey through Norse Paganism, a way to assist others along their journey, and a place to promote a positive image for all of paganism.
While I personally declare myself as a Norse Pagan, I speak on topics that also involve aspects of Asatru, Heathenry, and other pagan identities such as Slavic/Celtic/Germanic paganism.
The Wisdom of Odin is not associated or affiliated with any orginizations religious or politcial in nature. This channel/community is inclusive to all but is also non-political.
All gatherings held through the Wisdom of Odin and its extended community are private events held and organized by the members of the community. The only service the Wisdom of Odin provides is a place to connect with others of similar beliefs in the old ways.

Im a norwegian, raised Christian. But i never believed any of it. Once i went hiking up a tall mountain in the region i live in. And i spoke to Odin, i asked him for a sign. 5 seconds later, two crows came flying above me from behind, and out towards the beautuful view. I felt at peace.

I grew up a Christian, even when i tried to get into it, it always felt like those around me were feeling something i never felt a presence with. Few years back i stumbled across the Norse and it was like i found my calling, it felt so familiar for something i never heard of before, it was like finding an old friend that you didn't know even existed in the first place, that to me was the calling, so much made sense to why growing up i felt so lost and i couldn't be more happy than to have found my path, though people like us are so far in between, especially with me living in the middle of the bible belt i feel it's much better to walk alone on the right path than to be led down one that was never for me, and hopefully in time i do stumble across more people like myself, to anyone out there who walks alone in their beliefs as well, you won't be a lone wolf forever.

I had an outstanding experience with Odin yesterday morning around 5am. I was still awake, going to bed. Suddenly, a flock of crows began circling over my house and cawing like crazy. Once I realized what was happening, I jumped up and listened. The longer I listened, I began to realize certain things about my self and current life style. When I would admit something to myself or come to a realization, the crows would silence their cries. Soon after, they would caw again and I would receive another life changing thought cycle, and it repeated about 3 times until I finally fell asleep to the sounds of Odin.

Coming from America, I grew up as a Christian. I am an African American, Although I was never taught about my ancestral history since majority of my family believed that our ancestors were cursed and practiced devil worshipping. I could never buy into it while as a young boy and tried my very best to denounce the tribe I descended from (Igbo tribe) until I finally gather the knowledge of my blood line and reconnected with my ancestors. I felt a sense of pride and knowing that I am able to reconnect with my ancestral roots. Great video, nice to see everyone tuning into the ways of their ancestors and to carry on that tradition long after. You’ve earned yourself a subscriber.

when you were talking about explaining to your parents and family about your newfound religion i felt fortunate, because my close family (mom, brother, sister) were accepted my decision. they were all christians. after the event, my brother discovered he is not as christian as he pictured so he was digging deep and a month or so he discovered the closest thing to him is a mix of buddhism and shinto. not long after my mom (55 y.o.) asked us to help her research about wicca, so we helped her and now she does a mix of christianity and wiccan. my sister wanted to stay with catholicism and she was the same loving sister as she always had been. so here we are an asatru, a buddhist shinto, a christian wicca and a catholic can live together nicely.

The biggest leap you have to take when walking away from the christian path is to get over the fear of being wrong. We all go through it, no matter how strong our connection to our new faith "What if I am wrong" the only way to banish that fear is to answer your ancestors. When you start to feel that connection to them, when you start to dig into the past. You will no longer have that fear. Best of luck in your journey!

But when I do I feel so very connected and I find that afterwards it’s so much better than how I felt after praying when I was Christian. Hello Jacob!!! I am delighted that I have stumbled along your channel ( even though I know the divine guided me here!! ) I was raised Christian and didn't know there were other religions or belief systems out there......I didn't know we could choose, or have a say in what our hearts truly believe in. Now that I have my own personal perspective on life, I can choose!! I have been drawn more to the Celtic/Welsh gods and goddesses, but I have already learned so much from some of the videos you have posted. I love to learn about your Norse Pagan beliefs but it doesn't call to me like the Welsh lineage does. I'm excited to watch more of your videos, to enjoy your knowledge of the history, and the beautiful scenery at the places you have been, and indeed find my own way to a belief system that resonates with my heart! ❤

I grew up jehovah's witness, and then I became atheist. But I always felt like there was something. I then learned about this religion and just kept learning and every time I started to believe things would actually go good for me. For context, they don't go good for me. I found a connection. I felt like these gods were more real, and I felt connected I felt like they made more sense and yes I suffered but they showed me how to be myself. I'm a little new to this and still figuring it out but your channel has helped a ton

I remember once I had finished a long battle, trying to keep a relationship alive, and, it reached its inevitable end, I was broken, I felt as if nothing could fix me up, and I started to cry, felt my very soul tearing up, and I started listening to a song I had been listening for quite a long time, Helvegen - Wardruna, and in the one moment where they all shant together, I felt something different, different from the feeling of being sad and depressed, something diffferent from the chill of listening to a song with this theme, I felt literally as if all the old warriors of Valhalla were singing along, together, in grief to the loss of what had so much potential to be true love. I remember vividly feeling this presense, of thousands of heroes sitting on a long long table, and above all, I felt Odin by my side, as if I was having a small visit to the golden halls, I remember I looked at him, and he had a horn in his hand, I looked around and I saw all those heroes singing with their horns up, I was still sad and broken, but at the same time, I felt such a rush inside, I felt the presence, I felt... Everything, like I never did before, it was something unique, I felt as if, even broken and torn, I wasnt alone, and this battle was being sang across the great feast of the Gods.

So I grew up in a family that has no faith. My aunt tried to get me into Christian faith. I never felt a presence, or felt like I belonged in a church. I felt most at peace when I was outside in nature, that's where I felt I belonged. I felt more faith in nature. This I think is why. I have mostly Nordic ancestry and I think they are calling to me. They are telling me to rekindle our ways. In my dreams they even call me. I think this is what I was born to do, to bring back traditions, and never let them die. I have been asking myself where I belong for the longest time. I started my channel to share my journey. ❤️ Tack så mycket!

Great content once again my man. I totally agree. Try to speak to the gods with Respect and never waste that moment they give you their presence. My personal experience with Freya, and with Odin were totally life altering. The first time Freya came to me...gave me the guidance I desperately needed. I ignored it. And I def felt her wrath and a total karmic response. After I got what I kinda deserved...That was the moment I chose to never look back and to fully commit to the gods. And especially to her. The gods have been good to me ever since.

I walked down the path and saw a man and at first I was like.. Gandalf?? No.. that makes no sense. Wait, OH FUCK, and then I woke up and havent been able to lucid dream since. Got so excited because I knew it was Odin, and woke up. I he opened my eyes to what fet and still feels like an old friend. I felt so alone before not knowing wtf to believe. All i knew at the time was that there was no way that one god could keep up with all the things in this world. I knew and alwasy believed that there were more things in this universe and more gods. I couldn't understand why i was "damned to hell" just because i was born or because i didnt pray or any of that. It never felt right to me. Thanks to my better half, i dont feel so alone in what i believe. I do still question and sometimes feel "out" but when i dig into the knowledge of asatru it fills those gaps for me. It feels wonderful to be able to question without being told " your going to hell for not following blindly." im really excited for my journey ahead. And to gain all the knowledge possible.

with the way ancestry works, it doesn´t take going very many generations back before we all have direct roots to all races. You have 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great grandparents etc etc. By the time you get to the viking age that number has exploded. So it certainly doesn´t mean much to say that you have ancestry from ´the Vikings´, and it certainly is no requirement for this modern religious movement. You´re right to ignore that racist bullshite.

If anyone says it's for whites only, just call them on their bullshit. No one owns the gods. Anyone who wants to worship them can. The way he explains sacrifices sounds a lot like a system of bribery.. give to the gods to get from them. This is not so.. not exactly. In the Havamal you will see it says a gift demands a gift. But also the caution that it is better not to give than to give too much. What we should strive for is balance. Gift the gods and goddesses as they enrich your life. Give to Them because you choose to, not to expect something in return. I mean you could try to bribe Odin, I doubt you would be the first. :)

I researched Wicca, paganism, voodoo, hoodoo, basically everything I could find. I then found the three sisters that tended the world tree. A spark so undescribable happened. I knew I had found the start of what I needed to learn. This was literally last week! Now I'm on this path unsure of the direction to take. I found out about Paganism and Wicca in general when I went to Air Force basic, and one of the available religious services is Wicca. At first I was highly confused, and I was a Christian all my life. I felt to have such a service for something that isn't a religion from my abrahamic point of view felt ridiculous. When I graduated, and around half a year later my faith for the christian god just left me. Every time I prayed to him it felt hollow. Even before that I didn't go to church often, and I often in my head, even if I believed strongly, questioned if God actually cares. Every time I opened a bible I felt like I was just reading words on paper. Ultimately two things pushed me, one was ironically a biblical story. King Solomon, who was given all the knowledge by God, not only summoned spirits, but he acknowledged other faiths just as real as his own, and even partook in worshiping them too. I felt that it made no sense for such an outcome for someone who was supposed to have been given all knowledge by god, unless those faiths are just as legitimate. Then the latter was a calling. In my technical training for the military, I was walking back to my dorms from class when I felt it, just an innane calling, one from my Germanic ancestors to follow the right path. I already was highly interested in mythologies in general, but that was the final shove in the direction of Norse believe, which I initially looked with scrutiny, but over the past 6 or so months it has done more for me than the YHWY has done in my entire lifetime. I can proudly say Hail Odin now, the god I look up to the most as I feel the most in tune with him, and having met so many pagans on the way to this conclusion definitely helped. Thank you for this video, I shall have it Favorited to keep helping me stay on the right path. Honestly it was kinda hard putting my experience into words, I'm always better at speaking it out.

I never felt connected to the Christianity that I grew up with - like God saw everyone else, but in a different layer of reality than mine. I turned to Loki in a time of great need for change, and found, oddly enough, the "comforting father presence" I had missed until then. That is how I treat him, and have since felt so much better. He responded right away when I opened up, and there's only been slow but steady and sometimes unexpected improvement in my life since. More inner freedom. Well, last week Odin appeared to me in a dream in all his powerful presence - it was truly scary, I admit, but also deeply reassuring. Why do I feel the need to tell about that here? @@brynjolf3974 The word in english is a loan word from norse, and as it happens it also has the same function in english. A viking is a raider, pirate: a noun. The action is "to go a viking". You cannnot viking nor can you viking something

Dont think about it too much, because it can tear you apart mentally. Ask for signs. Wait for signs. Do what feels right. Life isnt so black and white, the best you can do is to make yourself happy

This was very helpful. Thank you. I am new to this path but it connects with me. I have drawn to the path for years, started to follow, then become lazy, then I'm drawn in again .

How does one differentiate a genuine calling from the gods with what could be ones own wishfull thinking? Some time ago when i was suffering from a very bad bout of ilness and feeling miserable about myself i spent a whole night shivering and delirious but awoke the next morning , still in bad pain but absolutely calm , clearly remmebering a conversation i had had with *something* All i remember was that the presense was very clearly a masculine one, and that it had told me to buck the fuck up, stop feeling sorry for myself, and start being a warrior. Ever since then ive found inner peace when faced with lifes hardships/ Now at first i thought i was speaking to God, as in the Christian god, but the whole tone of what i experienced didnt quite match up with the overall sentiment of the being i belive i spoke to. Im tempted to belive that this was some incarnation of the norrse war god my distant ancestors would have worshipped, but isnt it possible that i was just having a fever dream and essentially talking to myself?

It seems like you feel it might have been something more than a fever dream. Trust your gut. They can speak to us easier when our analytical defenses are down.

Thanks for your Vid! I am a pagan guy since 20 years. The spirit grow up through the years. I find the Gods everytime time wen i start my walk through the dark forests. So wen i sit there, i can hear all the torture and screams of our ancestors. Also we have to learn that nature is the spirituel path WE have to go. So go out there... find the gods in earth, Trees, animals and in so much more. Skål and greetings from Germany 🤘🏻🌲
