Great to see you both having a chat! To be honest, opening a page on Nottingham Post Forest page is like going into a Las Vegas casino! There's massive adverts, two lines of texts, flashing adverts, two lines of texts and its so very click-bait orientated. With The Athletic, there's a head picture and massive amounts of writing........awesome i love it. Keep up the good work Chippers 👍🏻👍🏻

As one of the many that Paul blocked on Twitter and also an Athletic subscriber, I think I'm pretty well placed to say why he used to get stick. As he mentions, the Posts articles were often clickbait and at that time supporters were desperate to put pressure on Fawaz etc., and there was barely any articles/pressure on the situation until right at the very end. There are other examples where fans felt the Post didn't represent or push the right buttons when things weren't going as well. Often they felt they were an extension of the club's own PR department (and probably still do). Any stick Paul got wasn't personal (same for Baz Cooper who seems like a really nice bloke), but fans wanted the local paper to paper to ask the right questions and write the right articles. Retrospectively, they probably had their hands tied in terms of what they were allowed to do and had to keep the club onside. Look at the articles Daniel Taylor has done at the Athletic on Vrentzos etc., as a prime example of what fans wanted from the Post. I may be wrong in saying this, but those articles would have not enlightened fans as to what was going on and wouldn't have pressurised changes at the club and Murphy, Cooper may not have come in. Fans wanted this from the Post (Tails, Cooper) in a time when the Athletic didn't exist. It could have helped get Fawaz out soomer and make other situations better. The Athletic is fantastic, both DT and Tails write great pieces. The Post's website is truly awful and articles are obviously churned out to meet quotas. Can't see that group lasting - who wants to click on a website with 500 adverts which slowly loads, with no content of any real substance? Not sustainable at all.

He also100% misquoted the club at times. When folk put that version of accounts he just blocked everybody so if he is blocking every contradiction hes preaching only to his own choir

I enjoyed watching this Chippers and Paul. Thanks to you both. I started supporting Forest during the golden years, which was very lucky for me. I have stayed loyal ever since even, though it’s been very hard at times. It does feel like we have had to wait a VERY long time for the good times to return. This season has been brilliant. Evangelos Marinakis and the management structure he has put in place deserve huge credit and of course Steve Cooper and the players have been superb. Fans always respond to proud and passionate players who appreciate the club and this team epitomises that. Sad to lose at the Cherries but hopefully we can continue our great form in the play-offs and win promotion on a sunny day at our old second home Wembley! Thanks again. Phil

As much as I love Forest I can't help thinking that end of season if we don't get promoted then Zinckernagel, Garner, Davis, Spence (all loaners) will go. So who replaces them? And then Worrall, and Johnson won't hang around. That's the heart of our team so this is a once in a generation opportunity.

Maybe so, but you’d trust Cooper, CEO etc to replace them with good quality….? Btw you’re not THE Jason Lee are you?! Don’t forget to subscribe for free, to see more interviews from past and future appear on your RU-vid feed…

Listening back to this interview, and the one with Darren Fletcher, post-promotion, both mention to atmosphere of belief and positivity around the club that grew following Cooper’s appointment. Perhaps this is easy to say with hindsight, but as a fan in Australia, that belief and confidence around the whole club was palpable to the point I felt I knew we’d go up this year, despite Forest’s previous play-off record.

Great interview chippers yet again. The thing about when Billy was in charge the the second time he had an agenda especially when he came back and said he had unfinished business and I like quite a few fans think that agenda was to destroy the club. Keep the great interviews coming 👍

Another 40 minutes that passes by way too quickly and great to get an outsiders inside views. We do however need a part two with what sounds like the more "colourful" stories. You have to respect a journo that says "this is why I left" and it turns out to be that the people he worked for didn't care whether he was honest or not. I won't be subscribing to the Atlantic though - I spend way too much on subscription services as it is and SWMBO would have conniptions if another one appeared on the bank balance.

Billy gets many mentions in dispatches. During his time did any of the journalist held him to account? Example he failed to give a starting league debut to a single player from the academy during both spells. This is staggering considering the wealth of talent bubbling at the ND Academy. Darlow, Laschelles, Bamford and Osborn to name a view. Really enjoy the Zoomcast Chippers .

Thank you for giving your insights on the Post. I was occasionally critical of the Post in bygone days but was also often pleased and enlightened by the content. Nowadays I’m furious at almost almost every article. The same story told over and over again under a different title, the misleading click bait titles and generally very poor standard of writing and grammar. As an avid fan I still keep clicking in the hope of an insightful comment or article. The quality of the articles are an absolute insult to the fan base. Sorry. I’ve frustrated by it for a while now. All the best to you both.

Great, insightful interview! I think it's a measure of his success that the barometer to measure modern day Forest sides by is Billy's team (especially the 2010 version of it). And I agree with Taylor, it feels inherently warmer now than it did even then and I think the fact that our academy is so closely tied with the first team is a major part of that. If Brennan were to go then it would be a huge shame but in many ways you kind of hope he does get a big move at some point. Ideally not this season but if a big boy did come in for him then I certainly wouldn't begrudge him moving and he's clearly good enough! No offence to Brentford but I think even that's too small a pond. With his newly adopted Robin Hood celebration though I have my fingers crossed he fancies at least one more season trentside! Ditto Worrall, Yates et al. Just looked at that out of context Cotterill account and just.. wow. Was never fond of him when he was our manager and he's never been spoken about in the most glowing terms by ex players.

Even more reason to watch I reckon. You might learn something or gain a different perspective. I believe the reputation he had is purely down to the reputation of the Nottm Post and not Paul himself. I'm a reporter in NZ, have no ties to the UK and don't know Paul personally. But what I do know is he has great contacts and writes some good stories. He actually talks about hate mail, the types of stories he was asked to write etc. It's reasonably good insight. Go on, give it a try :)
