I love how Ubisoft kinda adressed this in AC Odyssey where there's like this shit side quest where an old man tasks you to get some flowers from a mountain but i if you, like i did, go and do some other shit first and take too much time to get back to the old man you instead get greeted by his daughter that tells you the dude straight up died of old age while you where off fighting monsters and shit..

His comedy never gets old and the face impressions he does just makes the video a masterpiece

This might be my favorite one so far

Every video game NPC has to deal with me this way. Especially in games where there’s still stuff for me to grab in an area. The old “don’t touch the main quest until you’ve finished the side quests” mantra I live by as well. I rarely save anything for post game unless it’s specifically unlocked post game.
