The Nutcracker: The Untold Story - The WORST Christmas Movie? 

My great-grandfather, Rudolf Weber was forced to fight for Hitler in 1945 when he was only 13 years old. His father Karl had died in Ukraine earlier in 1943, and he had nobody but his mother Indrid and two younger sisters Anna and Gertrude. He was forced to participate in house to house fighting in Berlin, trying his best to get back home to his mother and sisters. After the fighting had stopped, and he was let go by American forces who had taken him as a POW, he finally got to see his mother and sisters, who were overjoyed to see Rudolf back home. I had a similar feeling of joy when this movie was over.

I think that this movie is trying to be cute at times-it’s a Christmas movie after all-but the nutcracker itself is creepy with its big eyes, and all the forced jump scares are so unnecessary. But then we have the rat man doing a tap dance. What is this movie trying to be?

What would have been interesting is if the brother joins the rats and the two siblings clash. This be a possible metaphor for them not getting along in the real world and their different views.

Dumbsville is actually very entertaining. It also has some 21st century humour, which is a win-win situation.

I’d like to mention that Mary and Max are the names of the 2009 Drama/Comedy Stop Motion film, Mary and Max. This movie has a scene where the main character, Mary attempts suicide while pregnant.

Oh man, I remembered seeing the trailer for this movie on TV and legitimately being horrified by it. It tried to come off as whimsical and yet I felt like I was watching Winter-Spiked Saw…..its kind of hilarious looking back. Also good taste at 2:11 and 6:57, bro. You got that cool shoe shine.

The characters being called Mary and Max just makes me want to watch the much better movie with that name

As someone who has watched the play for several years in a row, I can say this movies misses everything about the play. The play may not be for everyone, heck I mainly watch the play because of nostalgia and tradition. The play is meant to feel like a fever dream a child would have. The start of the play is normal and just about everything that happens in is based of something the mc saw or experienced, the nutcracker being the way he is is based off the guy she dance with, the rats are based off of the rats she saw the maid catch before she went to bed, heck even everything coming alive is based off the magical man she saw during the party, I’m not 100% sure were the snow queen and the sugarplum fairy come from but I would assume they are created from ideas if Christmas. This whole movie feels like a sad attempt at a horror movie (the toys being alive and dying due to Nazi rats) not a Christmas movie. The two biggest disservices the movie dose are adding lyrics to the music and the plot. I could and would write essay on how much this movie sucks especially compared to the source material but I don’t think anyone’s going to read this comment anyway.

I've been a part of 100+ semi-proffesional performances of nutmuncher over more than decade. We sometimes played the soundtrack on kazoo as a joke. We didn't know someone actually took our jokes seriously.

Soon this man while have the entire Nostalgia Critic catalogue under his belt. He could probably make a review of Pink Floyd's The Wall actually enjoyable.

Here they seem to be taking that away from them by portraying them to be utter buffoonish. That said, this ain't a Mel Brooks comedy, so its humor clashes with the plot's more serious tone.

I’m not gonna lie, this entire movie is so confusing. I mean first of all seeing humanoid rats wearing M1916 Stahlhelms with Wehrmacht WW2 overcoats on is confusing but the main question is why??? Like literally just why lmao? It’s like they’ve just mashed two pieces of history together for some random reason, I mean I even saw one of the rats wearing a Prussian pickelhaulbe, I really don’t understand given that this is a Christmas movie lol, it’s for children, I don’t think children are going to understand Imperial German (WW1), Prussian and of course Wehrmacht uniforms like I don’t understand what the writers were aiming for here??
