One hour north of Moss headquarters in Goleta, California, lives a customer, Robert Ikola. Robert is the owner of a beautifully restored 1966 MGB, and he reached out to Moss thinking that we would enjoy seeing the sum of the parts he bought from us over the years, plus a number of custom features Robert did on his own.
Our editor of the Moss Motoring customer magazine, David Stuursma, has been teaching himself video editing for fun. With Robert's permission, he packed up his camera gear to see what might result from an afternoon of driving, videoing, and talking about restoring and enjoying a classic MGB.
David has his own RU-vid channel @Naiad Stuudio, primarily for sharing his underwater and sailing adventures. We invite you to check him out.
A huge THANK YOU! to Robert Ikola for his time with this project and for the many years he's been a Moss customer.
Music credit to artist Crowander whose recordings are available on freemusicarchive.org.
Video editing via Adobe Premiere Pro.
Camera equipment: Sony FDR-AX53, DJI Mavic Mini, and GoPro Hero 9.
This video was reposted for sound and minor content edits.

I just love your ‘baby-steps’ approach, gives me courage to fight the next bolt or nut, one step at a time.

I like the attitude you have regarding building the car. Taking each job and breaking it down to smaller tasks that are not so overwhelming. And most of all, taking your time! It's not a daily driver that has to be fixed by Monday morning. Find the joy in a job well done. It is just as much fun working on these cars as it is driving them. You have a beautiful example of a well done restore. Very much enjoyed this video from looking at the car to the magnificent scenery. You have some great sports car roads there!

The more time you spend on your classic the more personal it gets - it becomes part of you .

Too many times, I think, many people have this media idea of car restoration, the crap that outlets like Discovery shows, and people think "I can't do that", when classic car maintenance & restoration IS just numerous little steps, just sequenced together. Great video, take to heart the things he said 'cuz it's true, you CAN do it. And the satisfaction you get when you drive that car YOU did is the sweetest feeling that you can't get anywhere else.

My first car was a 67 MGB back when I was 15 years old. I have never been without at least one MGB since then. I now own 5 MGBs and 1 MGC GT.

My very first car was also a MGB (1967). I love my collection of MGBs. 1968, 1971, 1979, 1980 and both a 1979 & 1980 Limited Edition models. All have been fully restored with the exception of the two 1980 MGBs. One will be started this winter Lord willing. They are fun cars to both restore and drive. I took a year off after restoring both the 71 and 79 MGBs simultaneously. I had to keep the wife happy by focusing on her for a while. :)

I watched this for a couple of minutes and realized this gentleman was on the very first cover of MG Classic Magazine with his red 1966 MGB.

Excellent effort and beautiful attitude towards your passion of restoring your MGB. My first car was a 1967 MGB and the same color as yours. I still have dreams about that car...thinking about trading out my 1970 XJ6 for the thrill of yesteryear !

Great video! I’m restoring my 93LE, and what you say is so true! Life events delay it so much, so sadly mine has definitely been delayed by such life events. Beautiful car and great video!

Don't give up your dream friend. No matter how hard life's unforeseen events try to derail your aspirations keep going forward. Believe me, I know. I refused to be a victim of what if I woild have... Stuck with my goal and am forever grateful for that decision. Completed a project worthy of being a family heirloom. A second project is in the planning. Several years ago never thought I would ever turn another wrench again. Glad I didn't sell all my tools as planned. Wishing you the best. Peace friend.

I don’t like to start on something unless I can finish without interruption - my trade allows for that. I enjoy working on vehicles and started as a teenager with my first car, an MGA. My friend grew up in a shop and tells me - “just do a little each day, even 1 hour, but do a little each day.” He has accomplished a lot over the years !

Nicely done. My first "B" was a clapped out car that I purchased for $500 while in college. On the way home one day the drivers 's side battery fell to the road (rusted battery cage); I drove the rest of the way with one hand holding the battery by its negative cable). I now own a 1972 chrome bumper MGB; fun to drive but one must drive defensively as there are none of the safety features we expect on modern cars. I did replace the 50 year old lap belts with 3 point belts.

My '65 B right side battery flipped on its side and dripping acid destroying the fuel pump. Fun times.

Very very nice. You went from being an empty nester to being an empty garage. Super. Can you comment on the new burden of worrying about door dings etc?

One of the requirements of being able to enjoy your classic car is obtaining necessary parts and spares. It’s such a shame that a company purporting to be the worlds largest supplier of MG parts, and claims to be a company ‘run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts’ has become a company more interested in being ruthlessly efficient and profit focused, pedantically sticking to inflexible customer policies, instead of a company that shows interest in good business practices and delivering results to their customers. Moss Motors is to busy being a impersonal profit driven company to be a car enthusiast business who looks after their customers. Sorry to say you lost another customer this week.
