I just wanted to have a chill discussion about where we are with Nvidia at this point in time. Please let me know what your thoughts are about the GPU market right now or if you had some "ancient" GPU hardware.

4090 is too cheap. I only have to sell one kidney to get one

One thing I will say about hiring Engineers to design these chips- as a college student, we exist. The enginerds that have the capabilities Intel is looking for. Unfortunately, Intel wants 10-15+ years of experience with hardware that’s only 10-15 years old…

Long time no see. Hope you doing well. Not much has changed in the gpu department.

I always had an Intel CPU and then the AMD 7800x3d caught my eye. I'm impressed and now I love this AMD CPU. Now i have my eyes on the rx 7800 tx

Assuming you switched over from Nvidia? Do you miss anything like DLSS or my fps for Ray Tracing?

Im mostly angry at Nvidia for screwing me over and others who paid $800 for the 4070 Ti then for them to ANNC new Super Versons When it's too late for us to return the old version of the card, they also discontinue it when it's not even a year old. They could at least offer us a free upgrade to the new cards since they are the same price as what the 40s cards should have been when they came out. I feel so stupid not wanting to see Nvidia pull this. I hope im not only one feels screwed over and can't afford to buy the new one since they paid for the first version, then even more salt rubbed in the wond when they also discontinued the card when it's not even a year old. Now what am I to do when it breaks and needs to be replaced by the warranty?

Same here. I bought the 4070 Ti on a small "sale" last year because I couldn't justify the 4080 for $1200+. I'm really starting to consider only updating on a mid-cycle refresh to avoid that very salty feeling when this happens.

How many people do you know who are PC gaming enthusiasts? Probably some. Maybe many, or maybe not many. How many people who you know are smartphone users? Suddenly it doesn’t surprise me as much that there aren't so many players in the GPU market.
@GraybeardGiffTech
@GraybeardGiffTech 8 месяцев назад
Valid point about the number of users for smart phone gamers. The GPU reality has kind of always been there haven't really been very many brands other than AMD and Nvidia. It's just so expensive to get things spun up.

@@GraybeardGiffTech Yep. It's not that it's a small market per se, just that it pales in comparison to some other tech markets. There's tech giants out there who COULD get into the PC gaming market - but they're already working on other, much larger markets. So why enter a smaller market that's already dominated by established brands with a head start? Props to Intel for going at it! And I guess that one chinese manufacturer that's trying to get going.

I switched to AMD. From RTX3070 to RX7800xt Nitro +

How has that worked for you? Any issues? Anything that you have loved from AMD? One of kid's PCs has a 6650 XT in it and there have been zero issues to date. Can't say enough good about for the price I paid.

Nvidia always make sure they are 1 step in front of the competition if AMD comes closer they make a card like the 4090 to put AMD back in there place Intel thought they where the unbeatable force in CPU so they got "lazy" with there development AMD made the ryzen's and from there the trouble was on the horizon for intel And till this day Intel doesn't have a answer for the pure brute force and efficiency of AMD Nvidia keeps there eye on AMD and doesn't want to make the same mistake Intel made and that makes then very smart Only things Intel is doing right at the moment is indeed ARC and there lower level CPU offerings like the 12400F and the 12100F are great value for your hard earned money Great vid by the way ;)
@GraybeardGiffTech
@GraybeardGiffTech 8 месяцев назад
Ya, Intel fell off hard with their higher end desktop and server CPUs. I think you’re right about getting lazy and I think they had a brain drain with some of their experienced engineers going to AMD.

Nvidia had some recent great generations, the 10 series was awesome. The 30 series was awesome. I felt like I was getting a deal when I purchased a 3060ti (x2) at MRSP. It felt like a steal, near the previous gen's champ 2080ti performance at less than 1/2 the price. The 40 series has felt the opposite, feels like Nvidia is robbing the consumers. Maybe the new Super cards will change that a bit. Let's hope so.

Pascal was great, I bet internally they felt like they gave too much that generation. However after Maxwell they knew they needed something good. I think your overall statement kind of summarized Nvidia’s power in the GPU market, they can control it however they want.

Enthusiasts are willing to buy AMD but normies won't touch AMD GPU

Maybe, I’ve seen enthusiasts swear by both brands for different reasons.

Everyone who complains about Nvidia or AMD needs to go make a change or except the same. Open up a company to compete with them! Everyone complains but does nothing. So either except they're the big dogs or make a change. Pay the cost of the product or go make a whole new lineup. Quite simple!
@GraybeardGiffTech
@GraybeardGiffTech 8 месяцев назад
Right. Not only are the three of them the big dogs, they’re really the only dogs.
