Why is it so important to do all for the glory of God and to seek God's glory? Because when God is glorified, He becomes much more beautiful and precious in our sight, and this causes adoration of God and worship. When the saints give glory to God, the 24 elders fall down and worship. (Revelation 5)
Hi. Good day. I greatly appreciate the sharing of John Piper's sermons. They are some heavy materials to consume. Hence my plea to you; could it not just be one video a day instead of 2? Most times it feels like a double scolding. Again, I love listening and ruminating on his sermons, but twice a day is a bit much.
Dr. Piper talked about working on our faith by focusing on Christ and spending time in the Word. This is good advice. But sometimes we must go one step further and exercise faith in order to be obedient. Because obedience is an act and faith is necessary for obedience, faith must also be an act. Thus, faith is more than a passive "open hand" that receives grace. Faith is an action we take in response to God's word and drawing. When we exercise faith we are also able to obey as God provides grace.
The protestant author Tozier wrote concerning protestantism: " In our zeal to escape the saved by works of the catholics we have committed the opposite error of faith without obedience". Salvation is a free gift, but even a free gift must be recieved in order to be ours. The word " recieve" in the new testaments' original Greek means, " to take hold of". Being saved is being born again and just as natural birth is the end result of a process, spiritual rebirth is also. Acts 2:38 is how we recieve the free gift of salvation and the process by which we are born again.
1 Cor 3 10According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. Immature babies act like lost people, in the flesh. There are other examples of Christians who disobey God and sin IN THE BIBLE. In order to NOT sin a person must WALK in the Spirit, and that is a CHOICE. Whether someone does do that or not salvation isn't about keeping the law AFTER YOU BELIEVE. The Apostles had a meeting about whether someone needs to keep the law, which includes the ten commandments, after faith TO BE SAVED in Acts 15! They concluded with this. Acts 15:24 KJV 24”forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:” SALVATION and SERVICE are separate issues! Keeping the ten commandments, living a holy life, IS something the Lord wants believers to do, but NOT TO REMAIN SAVED but for SERVING the Lord. SALVATION and SERVICE are separate issues! If someone mixes the two together they will be those in Matthew 7 whom Jesus says "depart from me I never knew you" because they didn't do the "will of the Father" which is to believe in Christ for EVERLASTING life (John 6:40). John 6:40 KJV “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Have you not heard the Ephesians 1:13 "gospel of your salvation" by which lost souls are saved today? What is this gospel? Its written to us today and found at 1st Corinthians 15 verses 1-4 king james version. Believe: Jesus already forgave you and died for all your sins according to scripture: Because of Adams sin, there were none good in the eyes of God. All have sinned, and all fall short of the glory of God He [Jesus] who new no sin was made sin for you. He's NOT mad at you. He loves you. He litterally loved you to death. He reconciled himself to you, me, and the world. He made peace with you by way of his blood-stained cross, presenting himself as a perfect sacrifice for your sins. He was then buried WITH your sins, and rose again three says later WITHOUT your sins, so you would recieve this truth, believe it and be saved. Dont take my word for it. Believe the book: "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 1Corinthians 15 verses 1-4 king james version. Thats the good news! God is waiting for you to come to him through faith in the FINISHED performance of Jesus Christ and nothing else. Ephesians 2:8,9. Will you put your faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ? Romans 3:25. Be made justified and reconcile yourself back to God. Romans 5:1 He has already completed all the work for your salvation.
