I would add that we don't simply allow all thoughts to flow through along the same course and flow out, never to be seen again, but allow the river of thoughts to weave it's way into a moving rope pattern, whereby a hierarchy of higher and higher principles form the structuring elements of the rope: the higher on the hierarchy, the more fundamental to the rope. In this way, each new thought is allowed to take it's place, fixed to the moving rope by a higher principle which provides it context. In this way, the principles themselves are not immune to review and are in fact constantly subjected to tests of their own performance, as the rope moves along like a snake, gathering new thoughts and then seeing them off when that section of the rope is formed and coiled. If a principle which had been added to the rope as a fundamental structuring material is failing to do its job of grabbing onto and weaving in lower order thoughts: if it is being unwoven itself by the contents of newer thoughts, it gets demoted. And in this way, the principles challenge, balance and contextualise the new thoughts, but the new thoughts also act as a means to put the principles constantlty to the test, and gradually elevate only the best performing ones to the most fundamental position at the centre of the rope. The rope is always moving, always strengthening, and always renewing, as it forms a massive loop where the spare coil only ever sits for a time in the subconscious. There is almost no discussion on the problems with forming fixed governing principles. Almost all philosophical systems rely on unchanging principles, but as this analogy clarifies, we must have a way to ensure literally everything is water in the end
