Dale Earnhardt, jr. was and is one of the most popular athletes in all of not only NASCAR history but also sports history as a whole. With that being said it bears noting that the results he got in many years of his career did not match up to the popularity, especially in the early years of his tenure at Hendrick Motorsports. Today we are going to look back at this odd time and see why Dale Jr. was so bad at NASCAR's best team. This is the oddity of Dale Jr.'s 4 Year Winless Streak.

And he earned his fight in the pantheon of all-time greats with all of his Xfinity wins, his 2 Xfinity championships, the 2010 Xfinity Daytona race in the #3/ his 26 wins & 2 Daytona 500 victories 10 years apart, reminiscent of my other childhood favorites, the 2014 New England Patriots winning Super Bowl 49 after 10 years of 2nd place finishes, finally winning Tom Brady his #4 & my college basketball favs of UConn Huskies both winning the men & women’s NCAA Basketball Tournament Championships 10 years after they did the same exact thing in 2004. 2014 was such a good sports year seeing so many of my favorites finally get those victories, and it was honestly bittersweet knowing that it was the last year in my life before all these major health issues and struggles in 2015. I hold a lot of sentimentality because of that because sports really helps you forget a lot of the difficult problems that weak people face in life and it’s great to see your heroes provide the spark that help you get through some of those difficult experiences and really make a difference in your life. 2014 was a truly special year. And for Dale Junior, it helped catapult such a huge resurgence not just in 2014 with sweeping Pocono/ Daytona 500/ finally winning that great grandfather clock, winning the race at Martinsville speedway over Jeff Gordon, who spent his entire career, never experiencing a DNF there, and always competing for the win even when he was less than great!

I don't remember if it was when he was still at DEI or right after he went to Hendrick... But I remember an in-car radio of him asking Eury Jr. what was wrong with the car, and if there was anything that could be done, and Eury Jr just said, "Deal with it, we can't do anything with the car until we get back to the shop." That has to be one of the worst things you can hear as a driver. Really, the last few years at DEI up to Steve Letarte becoming his crew chief were bad...

Geez, Dale Jr and Michigan created some sort of memories. Shortly before that 2008 win, Jr won the 2006 Busch race in Michigan where he got booed after he tangled with Carl Edwards for the lead. Jr's 2008 win saw him winning for Hendrick after suffering a brief winless drought during his final days with DEI. But of course, it would kickoff that long winless streak. Then in 2012, he finally won again in where else but Michigan. But that would be his only win that year and he would suffer just the next season winless yet again. But of course the "elephant in the room" that is, his 2016 crash.

Should do a video on MTJ's 218 race winless streak between 2007-2013.

I would say the 2001 Pepsi 400 at Daytona and the 2004 Daytona 500. Also Martinsville 2014 was awesome

My favorite Dale Jr moment is, undoubtedly, the 2014 Daytona 500. At the time I didn't know a NASCAR without Juan Pablo Montoya in it, and I'd spent the previous 7 years cheering for JPM and no-one else, often not even paying attention to what else was going on in the race... and then he left. That race taught me that cheering for good stories and battles is a lot more fun than cheering for one particular driver, so now, even having a favorite driver in Daniel Suárez, I often find myself cheering for various different drivers during a race. That was also the first time I stayed up past midnight to catch the finish of a race, after falling asleep during the red flag in 2012.

Winning the Daytona 500, then partying all night and wining the Busch 300 the next day hungover in the Oreo car. From memory, the Saturday race must have been rained out.

Ill always love when DW was blatantly rooting for Jr the entire last lap of that 500 just to immediatly become the biggest McMurray fan in the world.

As a fan of Dale Jr. and Batman, I always loved that he broke the streak driving a Batman sponsored car. Also, they aired "The Dark Knight" on TNT before the race as well.

Running outta gas. Everybody in the tv booth rooting for JR. every week only to be left disappointed when somebody else won. There was other drivers that had similar winless streaks just as JR did, but they get rarely talked about, but because it’s JR with his famous last name, he is talked about religiously. And of all tracks to break the streak, and everyone taking about the last time he won in that race.. yeah, he better win. Or there would have been another excuse. I’m not a Kyle Busch fan by any means, but I did get a chuckle when he said that he will blame another crew chief, or when he qualified better than JR did but didn’t have his own camera on him, I thought was pretty hilarious.

My favorite moment is: 1) After 4 years of not winning finally winning again at Michigan! 2) winning the Daytona 500 in 2014! I was so excited

How do you do a whole Video on Dale Jr's lack of performance without mentioning what we now know of his concussion problems. He has been quite clear in recent years how bad the concussions were effecting him. He just didn't understand it until seeing the neurologist in 2012.

I will always remember the weekend at Michigan. JR broke his winless streak and I started my winning streak of 3 racing dirt cars in a #3 car. Best month ever!!!!!

Hard to win when you're given the shittiest car of the fleet, and the best one is constantly given to the least deserving. Gee I wonder why Dale Jr. had such a low morale during that time. This was a brutal time to be a Jr. fan. I hated every minute of it. Hendrick should be ashamed of what he did to Jr's career during this stint. It was pathetic. He'd be a champion if he actually gave Jr. good cars. Hell a monkey would have won in those 48 cars. But nah, hand it to the guy who won 1 Busch series race. Just frustrating.

Dale Jr win at Martinsville! He was like a kid in victory lane that day! It was awesome! My wife and I are going to see Martinsville for the final race before Phx this year! I can’t wait! I just hope my boy Clyde is in the Playoffs this year!!

I remember staying up late so I could watch the 2011 600 live. I got so excited watching him take the white flag thinking he was going to win. I was so disappointed afterwards, but then I got to see him win Michigan the following year. This was a hard video to watch man, getting to watch all the races he could have won all over again

One concussion can create difficulties in everyday life in general. I've had 4 concussions and after the first one, my life changed in how I was able to get back on track. They only get worse after the first one. I'd still love to climb into another racecar, but I know the next one could not only change my life, but could be fatal.

I was at both of Jr’s Pocono wins in 2014, the whole time it was that feeling of wondering when something would happen to ruin it, but thankfully he held on in both.

Being a jr fan during this era was painful. I was a teenager when this all happened and I legit believed that if Jr was running a special paint scheme, he would win.
