As a hardcore Office fan, who has seen the whole series over 9 times now...maybe more than 10 idk. The show is definitely NOT the same after season 7 when Michael leaves. Michael was one of the characters who made the show what it was, his absence was very much noticeable and obvious in seasons 8-9 because we didnt have that Michael Scott humor that was so hilarious and such a big part of The Office anymore. I still enjoy the last two seasons but not as much as I enjoyed them with Michael in them.
the last 2 seasons are not funny because everyone is so close, very buddy- buddy like all that awkwardness is just gone... will ferrels character actually was the only thing that replicated that humor once steve left
If you think Michael Scott was the only lead character. I know there is nothing that could have replaced his character, but there was jim,pam and dwight who still ran the show for them in season 8,9. And characters like Robert California (Lizard king) lit up the show. Even steve didn’t wanted the show to end after he left. Last 3 episodes of the season 9 paid its respect to the show and gave it a well deserved farewell
The EXACT point of the show in season 8,9 as it was not even possible to have the same fun as before. If you remember the show had a pretty tough situation with finding the manager who could replace Michael, and there was a time when they were without andy for 3 months and the sales were still great. I’m not saying that they are the best season, but the story shifted more on the character side with the focus on every cast member. It just got different what we were used to before. No one can possibly think of replacing the Michael Scott character, they just had to live with it and carry the show to end on a good note.
Laura Watkins seems quite easy. What would difficult is to hate one men and love one men while they are the same person. But not impossible. I love Angela yet I hate Angela. (Actor; character)
Angela your character is cold and bitter but you as a person I wish I had a mom like you because you're so sweet and loving towards the people you care about. thank you for this and I hope to meet you someday and thank you in person. thank you Steve as well you're the best friend I always wanted :)
James Hanscombe if only Spader start the office 2 season earlier. I love Robert Character, it was almost precisly the opposite Michael character. But overall, michael character almost a magic to me. He can be dumb af but in the other time he can make other people more dumb than he is, without making him look smarter.
Will Ferrell was the worst option ever for the show. I like Will’s work In his other movies and appearances, but so many people (myself included) HATED when he was on the show when the episodes first aired forever ago. And still re watching them. The scene where everyone sings to Steve (since it was a surprise for Steve and not in the script for him) and will completely ruined it so badly. If you look at BJ’s face during that scene when Will tries to Ad-lib, BJ looks so frustrated since he always helped write the show and it was supposed to be a special “surprise” for Steve but then will didn’t get the hint and just started singing nonsense. And then the other two episodes he was in also he was so rude and so annoying. And as we all know, there’s a lot of improv in the show. Will completely ruined his character. And it was two of the most important episodes (when Michael does the last dundies and when he leaves). After seeing will improv and ruin the surprise song for Steve in the dundies episode, I will never have as much respect for him ever again lol. Like I said, if you look st BJ’s face during it you can tell how pissed he is, and Steve completely ignores will cause he’s so emotional about his friends surprising him. End rant lol.
after Steve left it took a long time for me to watch the episodes without him... every episode I'm hoping he pops up or atleast mentioned, I still haven't even finished the last season lol just wish they could make it all happen again... like Michael wins the lottery and starts his own paper company! calls everyone to work for him even Toby... idk
YaUncleDrew215 Six years later, and I'm finally ready to watch the end of season seven and then the final two seasons. I had to start all over again though which has been so much fun!!! Season five is my favorite.
Larry Lee Moniz I agreed midway through the show, then when I saw the last episode, I sorta changed my mind... I think they should've cut down the series a bit.. like not go as long as they did without Michael Scott
Saumya Bhadani Season 8 was fine. What they should've done is take Season 9's last few episodes or so, replace Nellie's takeover with Dwight taking over, there's a flonkerton esque competition for who's manager between Dwight and Andy. Dwight wins and Andy becomes a salesman. Last few episodes fall suit with the promos, dwangela, and Jim becoming the AARM. The documentary airs with everyone where they should be, no one is happy. Toby didnt turn wimpy over the Scranton Strangler case. Erin and Andy stay together and Jim and Pam's marriage isn't at stake due to Philly. I feel like this way the show ends great.
How do you know when an actor & actress has done their job...? When they leave or the show ends that ball in your throat swells up and tears start to fall:( I miss this show the characters were amazing but when Steve left, oy it was tuff to keep watching. I think the other actors were awesome after that BUT it was never the same show without him. Favorite character - Totally Dewight but Jim's pranks and stuff made both characters one in the same.
So I'm watching the office on Netflix now because my Sister really liked it and I wanted to try it and I love it! You are all a very talented group of people and I was very sad after I watched Steve leave the show because I felt like I just lost a friend. To me Michael Scott was the guy that I would come home and see him and I would just brace myself for a lot of laughter and throw all the logic I have come to know out the window! To wrap this up I think every single person on the office has truely touched my heart . Angella I think you are very funny and you and Dwight are tied with Jim as best couple of all time!!!!!!
A decade later and still resonating.. I mean even family guy did a spoof of Netflix message "are you still watching?...option: no because it's not a Michael Scott episode" lmao
Andrei Minhos IKR! She was always the most beautiful woman on the show but her character was, well, ick. Now I find she is such a nice person I absolutely love her!
Thanks, Angela this is what every office fan needed to hear the testimony of Steve Carell on his farewell. I just shed tears for the entire time when I watched "Goodbye Micheal" and seeing this brings the same effect. The Office(especially with Micheal Scott) hits those chords in your heart that no other tv show on the planet will ever do so, you cry and laugh both at the same time. it's just a remarkable thing the writers and creators did.
I don't think it was regret, just bittersweet. It's natural to feel a little sad and briefly regretful when you make a big change, but he was pursuing bigger things and more personal focus.
He is such a sweetheart. I love him dearly. This is such a beloved show with beloved characters and beloved human beings playing the characters. The Office is such a special show and I’m so happy that I can watch it literally any time I want. I can zap my depression in a minute when Kevin spills his chili or when Michael drives into the lake, or when Dwight helps Toby move the vending machine and then takes a call, walking away leaving Toby trying to keep the vending machine from falling on top of himself, or when Dwight saves Michael from eating poisonous mushrooms, or when my all time favorite couple Jim and Pam get married, OR when my all time second favorite couple Michael and Holly (Damn you Holly for taking Michael away! Move your parents to Scranton! 🤷🏻♀️ jk) got engaged. ❤️
when michael left.. i was always wondering/hoping there would be a reappearance.. 3 episodes into the 8th season and i realised he was gone.. i just didnt watch the show anymore.. it was more of youtube here and there about the show.. how funny in a way.. i hated michael in the beginning.. and missed him yhe most eventually.. how Ricky Gervais fuks with u .. lol
He is so sweet! Working with him must have been so much fun. All of The Office cast members seem like such down to earth people and that's what makes the show even better because you don't see a lot of that with celebrities. The Office will always be my favorite show. It's not the same without Steve in those last two seasons but it's still funny and great.
I fucking LOVE this guy! I'm British myself and I prefer the American version. Steve made it all the better. Was so sad when he left. I do think that it was better to break away from the British version though because I didn't like the "British" version in the American version. Jokes and re-enacted scenes, etc.
Jack Spedicy 2 Yea that's what I heard, but there's rumors that they are trying to convince steve to come back, hopefully he comes back if the show comes back.
That would be a big mistake. It ended perfectly so bringing it back would only ruin it. In the words of Steve Carrel, " People only think they want it to return, but they really don't because they would only end up disappointed."
he does made a enormous mistake, because it went downhill since he left. even james spader & will ferrel can't fill the void he left on the show. the office quite literally lost about 40% of their soul in season 8 & 9. michael scott is the office, and steve carell was born to be michael scott.
My favorite musical moment was when Michael Scott sang, "Goodbye Toby!" I thought for sure he'd say that one, but then I realized that Steve doesn't hate Paul the way Michael hates Toby. But that song is epic!
I've only watched The Office all the way through twice so far (I know, I'm a rookie huh?). But that's only because when I watch that last episode, it doesn't feel right to restart it right then. I'm going to try to explain this with an analogy because I don't know how else I can put how it makes me feel: When I hear The Office's theme song, or see the intro video start to play, I suddenly calm down and feel warm, and happy. It feels like home to me. So when I finish the series, everything it's wrapped up. And I'm sad to leave but it feels right. So to go back and rewatch it just then would be like if your whole family was waiting in the car outside, ready to leave together. But you forgot something inside so you go back by yourself. And it's home but it feels empty. It just doesn't feel the same. So you decide you can just leave. And after a few months, when I come back to the show, it's like coming home, the right way. And you settle back in to this familiar place and you can feel that you're ready again. And you never want that cycle to end. Am I making any sense at all? Maybe not. Point is, I love this show and I can't thank enough the people who made it happen. And love to all you fellow fans. You're all troopers.
Sure, it wasn't the same when Steve left, but you gotta give it to the writers and the actors; it wasn't bad either. I still very much loved season 8 and 9. It's something that no one would believe if they were told that the show would still go on when Steve leaves.
Now that we really know why Steve left the show (someone published a book telling the real reason), my heart sores watching this farewell. Executives of big companies are just so stupid and bad

Micheal left waaay to early in the series. I love the show but after watching it multiple times it is almost hard to finish the series because I almost do t want to watch anymore.
I couldn't watch the office after Michael left - I tried but I just couldn't get into it (watched snippets of scenes and had to watch the finale). This was a great show no matter.
For me, The Office starts season 2 and stops season 7. We wanted to see Michael Scott and Holly last on screen much longer, now we can only imagine. :(
I love this ,thank you for this clip....made my heart warm i cried manly tears when he left the show, i just seen all the seasons it took me 2 months on the finale was dissappointed steve couldnt appear on more scenes, the finale was a dissapointment but felt warm and glad i got to see the show and become a fan of it, thanks to the whole cast
