Seeing as most most people stranded are rescused within 3 days, you guys should get all the youtube knife/survival channels together do a survival challenge competition, different knife and survival kit each, and see who can last the longest. Alone style. Lot of effort tho 😅

I always liked the knife, the gimmick, I'd just use it for small game traps and fire making. Not really for any other bushcraft skill haha

I’ve heard nothing but bad things when it comes to hollow handled cheap steel Rambo knives.

LOL, i have the one from the third movie , its a wild design but absolute crap thats simply meant for a display case. A friend in high school picked it up and his mom wouldnt let him keep it , so i traded a few cheap knives for it.

I would trust a cheap Chinese knife a lot more than a Pakistani knife. Both are scary, but you could dull a Pakistani knife just slicing paper. And you can bend it into a U shape.

Rambo knives from United Cutlery are collection props. They were never meant to be used as knives. The real Lile's survival knife used by Stallone is expensive as hell but really usable.

If you are really going to test a Rambo knife, then it needs to be the real deal. One made by Wood, Neeley, Lile, etc. Not the dime store, wall hanger version. Good video

When i was young, i convinced my parents to get me a "replica" from something i don't have a word for. Each year there are some makrets and selling stands for sweets and crapy clothes and crappy other stuff at "churchdays" where i live. (so once a year at some church name saint celebration) The thing cost less than what would be 10€ in todays money. It had a non rustfree blade with an unusable backsaw. The compass was a little off, it had a unusable handwiresaw in the plastic handle. The matches did work though. It had a small sharpening stone on the front of the sheath, and i would constantly work on the edge with said sharpening stone while watching TV. Driving everybody else crazy with the noises. But it got really really sharp that way. I never hacked with it or did anything that would break it, but cutting it did well. Years later in engineering school we were galvanizing stuff. And so i took out the blade (i think a 10mm nut was in the handle securing the blade which had screw threads cut in the handle end.) I coated it with nickle and screwed it back into the handle. And this way it's in a drawer for over 20 years now. It can't rust, the blade shines almost like chrome (but a little more blueish in teint) and it won't cut anymore because the thin coat of nickle is also over the edge. But that's not important, it's a childhood memory.

How about the Hattori Hanzo sword from Kill Bill? It's just a really big knife no? I would like to see you guys featherstick with it 🙂

What rifle do you use for the shooting test? How many joule of energy? what is the projectile weight?

I'm not into this type of knife and might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that the knife in this video isn't the original one. If memory serves me correctly the original is made by a USA knife maker and is crazy expensive.

Garbage test the Survival Lily knife. Thats the test where you throw it in the garbage. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I sold my 89 United Cutlery First Blood Part II after i aquired a genuine LILE (the real thing) but now in 2024 after i seen a guy on a knife forum using it in the wood (splitting wood) i say : "Damn...have to get one back in the knives collection , since it was the MOST SOUGHT AFTER knife in the 80's. I had the HARDEST time to search/seek the good old United Cutlery version (better made than the Mastercultery/Hollywood Collectible group ones...) but i FINALLY found one in awesome shape in Japan. can't wait to receive it , fill the inside with steel epoxy and stab it in my wood display at home. I will DEFINITELLY used it lightly in the wood as a cool camping tool. (dont worry my Ontario SP10 1095 will be in my back back ;) Such an ICONIC design. in my opinion its THE movie time of all time even before ANY other Rambo movies / Predator (1987) etc etc.

Rambo himself would never, ever, disclose the true steel type and resultant magnificence of the original knife. Rambo, as all of you know, was a quiet, reserved superhuman. He would never disclose the secrets of his steel and super-strong handle material. As for the materials inside that handle. They're all fake. Rumour has it that the scalpel blade in the original could cut air. There is video evidence (somewhere) of the original fishing kit hooking and landing a 100kg Spanish Mackeral. The needles? Not only can they kill an enemy, they can also be used inside a hollowed out stick to as a blow gun to kill water buffalo. The matches burned for an hour outside, and ten minutes under water. That sandpaper in the original knife was 50cm square and could strip the hair off a wild boar. And that 'plastic'? The original knife had a piece of polymer about that size that could stretch out and become a sleeping bag. It was rain, snow and fire proof. Yeah, you guys bought a fake Rambo knife...

G'day guys, no surprises there. 420 J2 is often found on very low end kitchen knives, say 5 - 10 knicker in a "bargain" bin. As a prop, or indeed, a copy of a prop, might just as well have used painted wood or plastic, ........though maybe 420 J2, even with a decent HT, works out cheaper ; ) Unless one has a penchant for cheesy, it doesnt even look good. Personally I'd be embarrassed to own one, at any price, even as a tongue in cheek, conversation piece. But hey, each to their own. 10000 is hardly a LE, ...... I'd encourage at least 9000 more folks to do the same as you did. Those remaining still wouldn't be worth anything, ....... but It would make the world a better place ; ) Cheers Duke. P.S. Hey DBK boys, heres an idea.....In a tribute to JOE, perhaps do some content on how you guys would go about designing a JOE X proof knife that would still be pretty useful- Steel, Heat treat, RC hardness, blade grind/ geometry, length, thickness......you get it, of course. And perhaps you could recommend an existing knife that you think would have survived a beating ? .....Or something along those lines

A actual. handmade Jimmy Lile from the 80's holds up, keeps an edge (most are D2) AND the saw works. Put a ruler across the back of this one, and you"ll see the "teeth" are flat and simply can't cut.

!st I'm sure no one felt this blade was going to perform. After all it is being what it was designed for, a movie prop. They cranked these knives out, well expecting them to be put on displayed or stuck on a shelf in someone's vault. There are some "real" Rambo blades made by real artisans. I'm amazed you guys didn't do serious harm to yourselves. As for a movie knife I'd like to see you maul over. TOPS Knives I think Tom Browns "Tracker' would be a good one.

To be fair, ive bought a gimmicky kitchen knive and its gotten me enjoying sharpening and cutting all kinds of stuff with it. J just couldnt justify buying an actual japanese knife so i went with the chinese replica with some decent steel.

Whilst this knife is utter shite and boarder line scam, let’s not forget…for many of us, it’s knives like this that got us into knives and got us learning about what a real knife actually is. It has it’s place, as a grail knife for every 12 year old boy but certainly not in any real world situation.

That's not a scalpel it's a stitch cutter, although pretty useless if you don't have a curved needle and attached thread to actually sitch a cut,(we always have a tube of super glue- but definitely not stored in the handle, the only thing that should be stored in the handle is THE TANG!

Oooh I had one of these and i loved it as kid. I had it for 2 days only before my mum found it underneath my bed and chucked it away. I was absolutely gutted. It had the compass on top, the thin wire and some matches all in the handle.

You cannot cut, chop, baton, hunt or carve anything with paint, signatures, certificates or handle materials and "looks cool " features. 😆😆that should tell you something if you plan to use your tools outdoors
