Favorite band of all time. Met Dexter twice about 13 years apart and he remembered me as a little kid when he met me and my dad. Met Noodles once as well, they really are just normal ass dudes who love playing music. Talked with Dexter over 30 minutes both times. Noodles signed my guitar that's his first signature model. Dudes are as cool as they come.
Far Away came out one week after I lost a long-time friend. I'm 56 and I still get emotional every time I play it. Thank you so much guys😊 I still listen to you guys along with Candlebox, Collective Soul on a daily basis 😊
Offspring has been my favorite band for 27 years. I’ve seen them 9 times live. I am buying my physical CD copy of Supercharged tomorrow when it comes out! (Yes I buy physical media.)
Im so stoked on this interview. Today at work I listened to smah and inxnay back to back. Jumped in My car to leave and this episode drops,to awesome. All ever want to do is load up dirt bike head to fox raceway blasting the offspring
When Burt interviews bands and musicians he reminds me of Chris Farley on SNL when he interviews Paul McCartney. Such a fan boy! I love these band podcasts!
I met these guys after the '99 WHFS fest in Baltimore. What and awesome show. My friends knew one of the radio dj's and we were able to get into a hotel bar after the show with a lot of the festival musicians. I definitely recall seeing Dexter talking to Mark McGrath next to the bar. At one point around midnight the bar told us they were shutting down and everyone was kinda pist. I was talking to a young guy that was a roadie for Offspring and he said they had some Heineken on the bus. When we stepped on the bus i swear the first thing he said was "hey if you gotta use the bathroom there's no shittin on the bus"! The door the bathroom was open and the shower curtain rod had a bunch of leather jackets hanging. Great time!
Dude I feel that tho. Had to learn how to play the guitar again after breaking my right knuckle. At the same time my left thumb almost got chopped completely off by a katana wielding crackhead. Took a while, but now I'm back to shredding son.
Both those guys are chill they hung out the stone pony at a lunachicks opener. At 13th I remember it was nice of them to stick around a bit. Music thrashed 💜
I was in 7th grade or maybe 8th when I first heard gotta keep em separated. I think the first time I heard it was on MTV and then for Christmas my aunt bought me a black long sleeve shirt with the smash album cover on it and I could not believe my aunt knew about The offspring or knew I even liked them. it blew me away!
I once started a band with three friends for fun. The drummer was okay, the bassist was better, but the two guitarist (one being me) were completely new to it. There was nothing serious about it, but we made two different t-shirts and three stickers anyway. We called the band Must Keep Refrigerated. The name literally came off of containers of honey mustard and bleu cheese. One said Keep Refrigerated, the other said Must Be Refrigerated, so we combined the two. I say all that because we made a song off of Keep Them Separated, but turned that part of the song into Must Keep Refrigerated. Heeey, gotta put it away.
Bert really asked them if they had ever considered re recording “Smash” 🤣 Why would you want to re record your breakout hit album? This interview was sooo bad 😂
man i still cant believe i have a setlist from warped tour EARLY 2000s. even crazier i had the original smash tshirt. DONT LET CHICKS WEAR YOUR BAND SHIRTS KIDS! love the offspring
Bert I'm thinking that you did some research and knew that Dexter Holland is a PhD I think Biology. "Dexter Holland, also known as Bryan Keith Holland, is the lead singer and co-founder of the punk rock band the Offspring. He has a PhD in molecular biology and has published research on HIV microRNA." Shitting on The Bus. LOL I completely relate to this. From Mannheim, Germany my friend's family and I took a bus from there to Spain and something went out in the plumbing or something on that bus. So the bus went almost all freaking night to the Coast of Spain from South Central Germany. It wasn't the most horrible experience I've ever had but it's in the top 10, however looking back upon it now, it's kind of funny. As my friend was 14 and I was 13 we were even happier to see the topless beaches once we go there out of the horrendous smell of that bus. It was like riding in a shit tube on wheels and all we wanted to do was sleep b/c it smelled that bad. I was afraid the driver was going to get high off of the fumes and that kind of worried me. LOL. So to the guitarist in Offspring would you consider Flipper Punk? I mean a lot of Punks loved the first album, and Flipper was a huge influence on Nirvana(Chris ended up playing with them for a short stint.). Ah Outlaw Country. For me it's Townes Van Zandt.
I was kind of waiting for Bert to find out about Dexter's pilot license and P.H.D in microbiology. If he accidentally backed into that he might have kicked a flip flop off the ceiling.
It’s funny the people leaving comments about being sellouts but are watching. Who cares?! Yes, they wanted to make music and make money as well. That’s not selling out. It’s about feeding your family and getting paid for you art! EVERYONE “ sells “ out. It’s called the music industry. Do you people want them to be poor and not get paid? Dumb comments by some people.
These guys are so punk they fired their drummer for not getting the Covid vax lol. They fired their drummer for not doing what the government wanted him to do. They fired their drummer for being too punk 😂😂😂
Bert I love you man you are my number one favorite comic but most musicians aren't funny I haven't really been watching the Bert cast lately because of all the musicians buddy we don't even all listen to the same music idk who most of these people are.
It’s the 💉 pushers…. These guys treated there former drummer like 💩 cause his doctor said he shouldn’t get the jab. No thanks…. Side note , Dexter looks miserable sitting here.
That or "hey man to continue this tour we need to be vexed because of the venue rules, we are all on board." Not so easy just to pull out of a tour. I had to get it to keep my job.
Bert wtf is going on? Endless crappy music guests, old comic guests? Do you still do stand up or are you just "networking" and filming the crap as if its content?
Lol they are a bunch of washouts who then sold out. Just like greenday and rage against the machine. They haven't made any relevant music in 20 years lol
