I’ve always loved their music and lyrics, but it wasn’t until I heard them playing live acoustically that I really understood how brilliant they are as pure songwriters.
I absolutely love this song and the acoustic version is fantastic. And while I agree that Dexter isn't technically a great singer, he has one of the most distinctive voices in the business and I think that makes him pretty great! :) Honestly, you hear an Offspring song and you know it's him straight away.
The statement he isn’t a great singer is arguable. His voice is perfect for the music. If you listen to certain songs his voice will change. Listen to Dirty Magic and then Spare Me The Details
@@tsvetelinazarankova2107I was in high school when I heard Keep em Separated. Maybe '92 or so. I bought the CD the very next day after hearing them late one night on MTV when they didn't have dumb reality crap on!
17 years later, after Rock for People, I cannot stop listening to this amazing band yet again and this one song, particularly, takes me down the nostalgia lane. I love this video. May it never leave RU-vid.
Not many people can sound the same between master recording and acoustic, stripped down like that. Great job Offspring, been loving you since I was a kid!
In my own simple way I think she wants me only She said, "Come over right away" But she's just not that way Her little soul is stolen See her put on her brand new face Go on and pull the shades Razor blades You're so tragic Go on, I hate you so But love you more I'm so elastic Oh all the things you say The games you play Dirty magic I should know better than to think I'd reach inside her It's all a cloudy kind of daze She's not so sweet today She mocks me, I'm no fighter It all just seems like such a waste Go on and pull the shades Razor blades You're so tragic Go on, I hate you so But love you more I'm so elastic Oh all the things you say The games you play Dirty magic It's oversimplified It's oversimplified It's oversimplified Go on and pull the shades Razor blades You're so tragic Go on, I hate you so But love you more I'm so elastic Oh all the things you say The games you play Dirty magic
@@twomindz79 Strange... In 99% of the websites, it's "Dirty Magic stuff", in 1% just " Dirty Magic" and NEVER "dirty magic's up"... So, 100% of the websites are wrongs...
So glad they still play this song B-) Surprised too since it was on an album before they were famous (original version on "Ignition" 1992 / alt version on "Days Go By" 2014)
Bram van Kooten I'm late, but that's the cycle of life. Similar to aging/life, nothing stays at it's peak/prime forever. A mark has been left though shaping music history.
Jeezus...what else can be said..just perfect. My own simple way can't fully comprehend the perfectness of this song... She mocks me Im no fighter...love the t-shirt, fighter pilot
Ignition was the only Offspring album I ever really liked. S/T was okay and Smash was really good, but Ignition is absolutely amazing, from start to finish
Listen to this high, I’m sober now but last night I was baked and when I listened to this it was like a whole new world opened up to me, it was pure bliss,m
Damn invisible ninjas cutting onions near me as I´m listening to this song which reminds me of pleasant times when good music played on the radio way before we had internet as a source. Thanks Brasil2000 FM SP 107.3 for making my nights brighter and full of happiness. Just awesome... and thanks offspring for making great songs and inspiring us... sorry for the long post. Potatos on me
best offspring sound ever recorded, acoustic or electric, plus this came out in 92, shit its almost been around as long as me...an it dont matter at all how old they are, as long as they keep puttin out kick ass music ( hopefully more like ignition and not their newer music, although cant repeat was pretty good)
Watched them live @ Rock in Rio yesterday... Although they grew older, they are still fantastic in their live performances... Looking forward for their new record... I hope they'll pleasantly surprise us :)
This is right what people say. This is an underated song of them. I really like the Ignition album and this song its not so popular but its one of my favorites. BTW nice version love it.
Dex is certainly not the most skilled vocalist (which can be helpful for acoustic, slowed-down versions of heavier rock songs), but really great to stumble upon an unplugged version of one of Offspring's top 10 best tunes. Thanks to he who posted this.
Yes , he's great ( In his genre )he has the perfect pop-punk voice , he could sing in any pop-punk Band and he'll do it awesome, I'm so sure about this that I'm smiling while i write this comment ... , Oh and , If u know something about punk in general , Vibrato sounds bad and stupid in this genre. Haha LoL just imagine this song with vibrato, So useless... Things like this shows us once again that each genre of music has his own Plus. Well if ur comment wasn't about the vibrato , I Don't see your point. But i love you because you like this song LoL Haha Regards Bro
This is from the early 90 s I think Ignition album...Besides all the fast things there was something different and magical on that album such as this song. Man, we were wearing whatever we can put on us, just some silly clothes, and go to a party where they were jamming Grunge Punk and Alternative rock ..Yes I was an early teen something like 14-15 we just enjoyed Offspring all day long lol
i honestly think ignition and ixnay are the greatest albums ever made. every song is one you could play over and over. perfect energy on those 2 releases
