@@theworldofspeechsynthesize7548 i know, that’s because my dad has flown to Denmark to set me up with a DELL computer. If princess is ever on that one, I’ll be happy again
Yeah I know. I really want to get it, but I have no Mac that is so old. I know there is a virtualization software for System 7, but I can't get it to work.
1:28 this is the closest thing to my childhood, I was on a older version, 10.3 Panther for at least 6, 2004 to 2009. then I transitioned over to 10.4 Tiger, the voices sounded a little deferent but it still had the same pitch patterns like 10.3 Panther and 10.2 Jaguar did. I still can never get used the way some of these voices sound in 10.5 Leopard to 10.15 Catalina. it seems as though 10.10 Yosemite was the last time the updated their speech engines, but still using the same annoying pitch patterns since 10.5 Leopard.
Yeah, and in the very old macOS versions before MacOS 10 they had another sound. I think they changed it a bit in MacOS 11 and MacOS 12, but I'm not sure. My favorite version of the MacOS speech is the version with MacOS 10.7 Lion.
A side-by-side comparison of the different versions would be greatly appreciated. From Tiger to Leopard was a change, and the voices lost their consonants a bit too much, and SnowLeopard fixed it majorly. Lion was weird, especially with Alex, but introduced my favorite versions of Samantha and other voices, such as Jill and Sangita, which was retired until recently in iOS 16. Macintalk didn't change between Yosemite and Monterey, but has changed again with Ventura and third-party speech synth support (eSpeak finally made its way over)! Now hoping we can get Keynote Gold and DECTalk ported over, as all three of these speech synthesisers sound similar, just with different tone and accents.
They have this voice is back as novelty voices of iOS 16. A person who relies on speech synthesiser to navigate the phone, I have to say, but the voice is like Jester, organ and cello, for example, a very nice if you want to play around. However, if you have the speed of your voice is very very fast, at least faster than the average, you won’t understand things clearly.
Can you do a video of the mac Cello voice singing the lirics to Mary Had A Little Lamb? The lyrics to that song and the tune that the cello voice sings go very well together.
