I am here to watch the film on 6/5/2024 at five in the morning. Name is Muhammad Al-Ajouri. Age 30. I work as a school teacher. Please pray for my success and success.
The grit, wit and Spirit of Man is portrayed in stunning manner by Hemingway---Movie is also moving one. 'Man can be destroyed, but not defeated'. Gracias.
I really love this woderful movie. My late lolo Didz was not a fisherman nor our house in the province wasn't near at the seashore but this movie let my tears to fall from the beginning and more until it ends as it reminds me of my days together with my late lolo Didz and of how the seashore in Siquijor gives m the loving comfort this city can't provide.
The old man and the sea was one of the books we studied in high school.I have been fascinated with the story eversince. Its the first time that I had the opportunity to watch the movie.I am not disappointed. They could not have found a better actor than Anthony Quinn to fit the role of the old man.The boy Manolo was also excellently cast. The old man,for me epitomizes what a person is capable of when he is determined. The old man possessed true grit, strength and determination. He never gave up despite his age and failing strength. He fought the fish with everything he had and succeeded in hauling it in finally.Overall he was triumphant and dispelled the hoodoo that hung over him.Greatly enjoyed. Thanks for screening.❤❤❤
I remember this movie from my childhood, for some reason it was always played during school holidays. very happy to watch this again after so many years. thankyou
What a great lesson taught.. although I'm not the reading type but I must commend that I truly enjoyed the movie in every bit. No detail was missed from the novel. Great work posting it put here for us all who didn't like reading to have a knowledge of the lessons behind the story of great commitment, not giving up, withstanding whatever challenge we face.
Hemingway wrote this book as an allegory on the evils of Capitalism. The old man dreams of catching a big fish believing that his problems will end. Just as most people dream of getting rich. When he hooks the fish the fish drags him out to sea and he has to spend all his energy to secure it. Just as most people spend all their energy trying to get rich. When he finally secures the fish his problems don’t end as he has to spend all his energy protecting it from the sharks. Just as the rich spend their lives protecting their wealth. At the end of his efforts, all he is left with is a skeleton. Hemingway is pointing out the pointlessness of materialism.
I am just here since I miss the moment of discussion in my literary class when I was pursuing my undergraduate in Malang, East Java. I was so young and free with enthusiasm to learn English Literature.
Thats funny. I remember this movie had Spencer Tracy as the Old Man. Ive read the book many times but dont dream of lions. I got an A+ in high school for a book report i did on it. One of my favorites. We will see how this measures up.
OK. I'll accept Anthony Quinn as a stand in for Spencer Tracy and the actual book story line is very close also. The sub plot is totally unnecessary and doesnt do anything for Hemmingway. A man possessed of his own special demons.
How did a swordfish turn into a shark ?? Or were they meant to be two different fish? He hooked a swordfish but speared a shark, definitely. Replay it.
He still didnt dream of young lions playing on the beach? The story as depicted in the book was good. Still prefer Spencer Tracy. The sub story was not really needed and detracted from the whole with tiny bits of wokeness and drivel. Hemmingway was a newspaper man wrote short, sweet, and to the point. Never ask 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'
