impressive old recording of a past way of life. We can only imagine what the real sound would be like, quite different from the one selected to accompany the film , which doesn't really fit. How the children dance! everybody joins in. Flamenco grips you like a fever.
Beautiful ! Beating time with their hands and cutting bread is typical Spanish. Every shots of this video are making me to remember my life there in old days. I am crying.
Y no exagero.
MARAVILLOSO. GRACIAS, GRACIAS. Abrazo desde Argentina.
Simon, I have watched countless documentaries from academics and 'those who know best'. I've read books, I play Flamenco but this is the greatest Flamenco documentary ever.
@@SimonCamara Me playing a Guajiras, which is not strictly Flamenco but it operates in the 12/8. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eK5zOpBwoU4.html
This is an old film based on the poverty of the gypsies on one hand and the totally untrained but totally improvising young child dancer full of enthusiasm and energy. He lucks the training or the opportunity to watch a flamenco dance of that time. He claps an also used them in a gestures of pulling down and up his trousers (nothing flamenco here with perhaps the small hint of clapping) and acrobatic movements that can be linked to many other dances but almost none of the movements can be related to the Flamenco of the XX century. Now this lad adepts and develops some Flamenco techniques when he is dressed with a Matador black trousers and clearly shows that he has learnt and picked up some flamenco movements, gestures and tapping . The older dancing man seems to be kicking someone on the back while dancing totally unco-ordinated and lucking any flamenco rhythms. Now compare this dancing with Canarios or !Il Canario" that was danced 4 centuries earlier in the whole of Europe and you can see the English Dancers dancing Flamenco or il Canario as it was called. Observe the male dancer in the middle how he use the palm clapping and tapping as well as the ladies. Of course, Canarios was a very successful Court Dance from the Canary Islands that becomes a highly skilful which started in the XV century and died at the beginning of the XIX century. Instead of dying, I would say was renamed as Flameco. In this link you can see an English version with clapping and tapping. Of course, Flamenco as it is now has developed with all the fusions and the input from the gypsies when they start embracing and taking as its own dance but it did not came from their ancestral home in Punjab, India where they dance without any shoes and certainly no tapping or any root of Flamenco. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bxc7MlyUvvo.html
