This august (2021) outside of my dad's nursing home this song somehow started to play right after he passed. I asked my girlfriend where the song was coming from. We couldn't figure it out as they didn't have any speakers or anything outside and I had never heard music there before. I will always think of it as my dad speaking to me. It will always be a special song and I can't stop thinking of him every time I hear it.
This is the song that was played by an awesome band, with the best sounds drums and trumpets can produce, while we matched my dad to his grave. My dad is the best man I have ever known on earth. With his gentleness, care and principles he raised his 7 kids, gave us his all whilst working hard overseas most of the time. He also gave us the best mum any kid could ever dream of, they made the perfect parents and we the kids will continue to thank God for this blessing. May their sweet souls continue to rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the our Savior

You're absolutely right we need help in America but fast let's hope it comes in November when new leadership and get our country back to Christianity amen
It's not Elvis singing but it is a beautiful and an inspirational hymn no matter who sings it. Thank you Dear Jesus for Your Sacrifice to Save us from sin and death!!!
Thanks for the info! I wouldn't have known if not for the comments. :) I mean for some generations watching RU-vid, most would have just "heard of" Elvis Presley but not know him.
@@ongjanette I grew up with Elvis's music in real time, and I immediately knew that it was not Elvis singing. But this rendition is beautifully done, and I can hear some of the "Elvis" touches in the voice. But I have yet to hear a single person who can make me believe it is Elvis singing when it is not.
Yes...this is John Berry's amazing voice singing this amazing gospel song. I have seen him in concert over 20 times in Wisconsin. John is a good and faithful servant of God -- loves his family, his God, his country -- and shares his life through his stories and songs. I love Elvis too -- wish I had seen him perform live.
@@BigRed-Heron Because the video maker 1) knows that it isn't Elvis, but wants more clicks... 2) have seen another video with the song naming Elvis and just copy that and make his own video and being fooled by this... or maybe something else...
The Old Rugged Cross is my favorite hymn, which means it's my favorite song. It always reminds me of what my precious Savior did for me on that cross and often brings me to tears. I am so unworthy.
Dear Lord, my Mother (84) waited for the crown. She clung to the old rugged cross her whole life and was absolutely ready, wanting and waiting. My Mother knew you her whole life and always expressed being in your presence. Thank you Lord for bringing my Mother to such a peaceful, beautiful place.
Going up in church way back in the day this was one of my favorite songs and my mother she loved it God Rest her soul and my Dad...😢 I'm so glad they taught us about Jesus and kept us in church😢
No one will ever be better than Elvis, especially when it comes to Gospel music. I believe the Lord put him here on Earth for a reason. Elvis was special and Our Lord and Savior wanted him to bring people together, by him singing Gospel music. Love and miss you Elvis
Not Elvis, but John Berry! How can anyone mistake the two voices!? Elvis has a unique voice and so does John Berry. Love both of them 💫💫🥰🥰‼️‼️ John Berry did a lot of great songs like this including “O Holy Night”. I watch his version (in the church) on RU-vid every year. It’s beautiful 👏🏻💫💝🥰‼️
Diane Fiske Foy, I agree with you on this hymn it is not Elvis. When I heard this I thought to myself this is not Elvis. I seen your comment and looked up John Berry's O Holy Night and I loved it. Thank you for sharing your comment! John Berry has a beautiful voice and I want to hear more of him ❤️ I am 76yrs old, I was 12 when I first seen Elvis on our first TV (black and white of course) Stay safe and have a wonderful day 😘🥀🥀🌹🌼💐🌸🥀
@@charlenewebb1802 ... You’re welcome 😊. Yeah, John Berry is great! And so is Elvis! I’ve been a fan of his since before I was 10 and I’m almost 68 now. No one like Elvis in the whole world. Never will be. My favorite sister’s name is Charlene. She died in 2019 and I miss her very much 😇. You stay safe too and have a great day as well 🌞🌻🦋🌹🐞🌷🕊💐🍀🥰‼️
@@dianefiske-foy4717 Thank you for your comment. I am SORRY for the loss of your sister I am sure she's in a better place. My husband passed away in 1998 and life does get a little easier as time passes. Stay safe and have a wonderful day 🥀🥀🥀🥀
I feel really sorry for people that think they have to bash our Lord Jesus Christ one day as the Bible says every knee will bow and every tongue confess Jesus Christ is Lord and I am so glad and grateful for that old rugged cross if it hadn't been for the cross we would be lost
He was a brought up a Christian and I'm sure God took him to heaven. Amazing Grace 💞 my Christian parents have his album 💕 what a beautiful voice and God heard him! 🙏🙏
@@tommystormo he's doing what God wants him to do I am proud of him even tho he spilled pop corn on top of me l knew him in mph and west mph he always loved doing what he's doing now praise God
My mother loved that song 🎶. I listen to it sing 🎤 by Elvis on my Utube music channel all of the time. Also, Old Shep, but not so often because it makes me cry. My mother used to sing 🎶 a lot of those old songs to me. I’d beg her to sing Little Joe the Wrangler and then I would listen and cry 😢. I was about 6 or 7 years old. Mother used to love to sing and I’ve always hah a special love ❤️ for music. Mother used to sing hymns all the time when she worked around the house. 👵🏻👵🏻👵🏻👌👌👌🥰🥰🥰
Yes I agree this gospel song ... Old Rugged Cross ... is sung unto the Saviour Jesus Christ The Saviour Of The World ... The True Super Man ... And True Immortal ... The Son Of The Most High God .... Who Reigns Eternally ... Amen,Amen, Amen ...
That was my Dad’s favorite song 🎶 every time I hear it it makes tears 😭 it was sang at his funeral 😢Elvis was the best and loved his gospel music 🎶 he had a beautiful voice ❤
Elvis was a believer and his light still shines. thru this world, He lifted Jesus up, and God lifted him up! Not many famous people stood as strong for Jesus, as Elvis did.
Elvis Presley The king of Rock N Roll and great Gospel Songs will be here in our HEARTS Forever lives the King .Elvis Presley...12/16/19 Happy Holidays ..
Very interesting to see Elvis Presley with his family, his military clothing, his guitar and various other pictures of him! It is an impressive video that has a great significance for many youth a well as those who listened to him when we were young! It is so good to know that he was a believer in Christ! So grateful for this site!
How many words can say how much we love this Beautiful voice. There are not enough words in any language, as this is only from the heart. Love you Elvis. x
@ Roger Floyd Fredieu Me too... But this is not one of them... This is not Elvis... Elvis never sang or recorded this song. The singer is John Berry, from 1997.
Well done to whoever is singing this, great rendition of an old song. Elvis would be the last person to complain about his image being used to spread a bit of love and care in this world
Love it elvis good singer he was christion elvis ma ma loved it old rugged cross flying with the anjels ma mu. Dad miss them so much went to church since was baby still go to church got granweans they all went to sunfay school they loved it elvis thr king xxx
Still listening to this in 2020 and it may not be Elvis but it sounds enough like him to suit me so just shut up and enjoy the song. . . . . . .RIP Elvis and all my family in heaven. . . . . . .
One of my favorite Gospel songs! Loved Elvis since a little girl! Born in 1953, my parents liked him, also! Growing up we went to Drive-in to see his movies! I love when I grew up!
@Dave Roberts Because if you check out John Berrys own video, it is the same song... Don't you know how to research..? And listen to others who has done it before you? (As I did, I must admit) :-)
O mundo gospel precisa mas de artistas como elvis presley, mesmo se afastando dos caminhos do( Senhor Jesus Cristo) ele nunca se esqueceu de quem ele deveria servir.
I would have liked Elvis to sing this beautiful song ,his lovely powerful voice would made it so awesome. My late Grandfather And my late Father loved this hymn and l chose it for their Funeral but it does make me sad and tearful and reminds me of my loss of people l loved . Paula xxx .
My love for the Lord is deep as he is soulful. To the bone. They lift my spirit closer to him. Amen for all ur Grace Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice that till the day I die I pray I'll go home to you. AMEN
A beautiful song....epitomizing my beautiful and much adored hero Elvis Presley of his Christian Faith throughout his whole life with sincere humbleness 🙏🌹❤️❤️❤️
I am fully aware that this is not my adored and much loved forever hero Elvis Presley. The song is beautiful and used depicting Elvis photos is appropriate as Elvis to his Christian Faith his whole life, his unwavering Faith and belief in God, he so beautifully shared with his own Gospel and Christian songs. Thank you Elvis...In my heart forever. An Angel in Heaven ❤️❤️❤️🌹🙏...💔
He was a multi talented man that did and still does give pleasure to millions.was pushed all thru his life but was so talented not many musos were like him and he covered so may of others songs so well.rip Elvis you stay on in our memories.we have lost many great singers like you but not the same as you.
I can remember singing this in ⛪ many times. An old, but beautiful song. 😊 Brings back a lot of memories with my grandmother in church and her wearing g a hat to church. She never went without one. RIP grandma and love you and RIP Elvis too!!!
I sang this song from the time I could say the words - my grandmother gathered the family at her house every Saturday night - my whole family played some type instrument and there is nothing better than the old gospels.
Why all the fuss. There are many Elvis impersonaters out there that make money doing it. One man tried to sing some BEAUTIFUL MUSIC and put Elvis name to it, whole crowd come unhinged. I learned more than that about Elvis Than petty crap. Yes Elvis was a great singer, tops, yes. Elvis was very spiritual from heart. NO, that was NOT Elvis BUT John Berry did a good job singing and I enjoyed the singing. Wasn't concerned about WHO sang it. GET A LIFE!!
I'm drilling clinging to the old rugged cross even tho from time to time some new ones oppressed my soul. The cross of Jesus Christ is still the one I'm clinging too.
Elvis sang from his heart and soul. This makes his music so beautiful, meaningful and timeless. He loved God and that love flows through the Gospel songs he recorded. He loved and respected people. Again, his humanity flows through his other songs.
