Taking a break from AWE, let's check out this educational typing game from 2004! How does it hold up today? SpongeBob SquarePants Teaches Typing belongs to The Learning Company. Follow me on Twitter: / lucililium
We were forced to do typing practice everyday throughout Elementary. The games we had to play would get so insanely fast at times you really had to learn to type fast or never be able to pass the level. Safe to say I’m the fastest typed in my family. Also safe to say I never type the way it’s supposed to be, it makes me type slower with the way they want stg.
Funnily enough, I made a few RU-vid Poops of the game's cutscenes back in 2014 when I first started my channel, and if I remember right I named them all some variation of "SpongeBob Teaches Typing".
I played this game as a child! I remember i begged my parents to get it for me bc the packaging had “unlock the Krabby Patty secret formula!” on it or something like that. unfortunately i did not find out the secret formula but it did help introduce me to typing 😅 thanks for the nostalgia!
I think you’re thinking of “Mario teaches typing.” That game has been memed to death around the early days of RU-vid so I think you were remembering that
I certainly remember those days! I'll never forget the video of the floating Mario head threatening to bite my snout. But nah, I remember calling it SpongeBob Teaches Typing since before I knew about that game. I do think I confused it for some other typing game somewhere down the line, but it is a really funny phenomenon!
@@lucililium ohh, I gotcha. To be honest I always thought the same about the title too. Thing was I always assumed it was because of the Mario title that I mistook for SpongeBob. It feels like a cool Mandela effect tbh
To me it was and will always be Spongebob teaches typing. Seeing it again brings it all back to me. Honestly as a kid I don't think I noticed the voice for Mr Krabs being different. But I remember how fun those Glove World games were, the great snail race was definitely improved by Spongebob's commentary. But man do I remember it being tricky, half the time I just ended up frantically typing with my index fingers instead of the correct way. I'm actually trying to type this comment the correct way and I tell you what it's a lot harder than I thought it'd be. That's probably what I get for not having the correct posture, in fact I can't even remember if I beat Sandy myself, or if only my older sister did. Anyway, great video, I'll be sure to check out more of your content.
Haha, I vividly remember this video game. I never had known what the game had wanted me to do since I didn't understand english well at the time and so I just typed random stuff the whole time, kept opening the game to watch the cool cutscene. What memories..
Wow, I completely forgot about this game until now. I'm certain that my youthful propensity for SpongeBob Teaches Typing is the reason I can type so well today. Great video!
Seeing this video awakened some memories I didn’t know I had. Now I remember playing this game as a kid. Although, I’m assuming I didn’t like it because hearing the voice lines was really grating on me for whatever bizarre reason. Thanks for covering these old SpongeBob computer games.
I never played this one, but that Flats butt-kicking joke actually made me laugh! This made me want to play this, but it also gave me flashbacks to having to practice typing in middle school haha
I beg you to just watch the other videos and move on from that dang ghost game for your own mental health, let it go and just enjoy the uploads. It’s not that difficult, kid. And please never speak to me again ❤️
God this game was so much fun back in the day. It was a sad day when my disc was broken one day. The nostalgia hits hard. The game had some creepy elements to me as child.
I never listened to how people wanted me to type lmao. I still do it my own way with certain fingers and look at the keys from time to time. That being said, I'm so sad I never had this one growing up. It looks like a season 2 episode and that's the highest praise I could give it. Especially the joke with Flatts wanting to kick SpongeBob's butt you showed was 100% on point with the show. I'm assuming my mom or my dad thought I wouldn't want to play the typing game growing up so they didn't get it, but I have played almost every other SpongeBob game so I need to play this eventually even if it is 20 years old. Great video as usual and a nice deviation from the AWE series. Also if you need another non-AWE title there was SpongeBob Monopoly released for PC in like 2008/2009. I remember getting that after Nighty Nightmare as the last boxed SpongeBob PC title. There might be a decent video in that.
I barely remember this game at all because Operation Krabby Patty was more memorable to me as a child, but not only do I still own my copy of Spongebob Typing, it's also in good condition with barely a scratch or spec of dirt on it.
I always said "Aye aye, captain!" after Mr. Krabs said "It's time for fashion in A Star Is Born! Are you ready, kids?" when I chose the A Star Is Born game. Speaking of which, Patrick Pinney (the actor of Painty the Pirate) voiced Mr. Krabs in this game, so it's pretty ironic.
I wish we had these typing games in Elementary. We had Ultrakey (which I despised) and this other game that I can’t find but it was space themed and it used 3D models. That one got harder and harder the more you progressed, to the point where I was stuck on a level for a year or two because it was just so insanely fast. I remember finally beating that level and feeling bittersweet for the first time in my life. Glad that I was finally past it… only to realize that it just led to even more levels that no one could beat in the class lmao. At least I can type really fast now.
Your channel tag of “review obscure things” reminded me that Lego Battles existed. It’s a DS game I loved as a kid but I think it’s fallen into the void of the unknown (to my knowledge)
Yes even as a child I could tell he sounded different but I found his voice here hilarious 🤣 Also i don’t actually remember how I learned to use a computer at this stage😅
i thought i made this game up in my head lol. as soon as you played the first cut scene, all those memories i'd buried deep in my brain came back. though i do have a memory of some cut scene freaking me out. it might've been a cut scene they show when you lose? i'm not sure i don't remember many details.
Prolly the only pc game i had when i was super small and im soooooo sure it was called spongebob teaches typing so yeahhh someone went back in time and smacked a random fly that ruined it or somethin
