Excellent video :) Randolf Hurst actually caused a shortage of European fine art when he was refitting and equiping St Donat's. After staying there at it's height someone asked Bernhard Shaw what it was like. He said, "It's a place that God would own, if He could afford it!" :)
Loved this - learnt lots about the colourful history of Llanilltud Fawr. Arguably most famous alumni is St Patrick who did his monk training there, before being captured by pirates and taken to Emerald Isle to banish the snakes!
I grew up in Llantwi,t well Boverton to be precise. My parents had the Boverton Castle pub. I would love to know more about the actual Boverton Castle, opposite the pub. It's allegedly haunted by The Black Lady of Boverton... Fascinating video by the way! Keep up the excellent work!
That was wonderful! I grew up in Llantwit and St. Donats and find it difficult to find any history programmes about the area. I look forward to more of your videos.
Thank you. Besides my own book which is Legends and Folklore of Bridgend and the Vale' there are lots of books published by Stewart Williams which are out of print but available second hand. Things like Vale of History, History on my doorstep, the Garden of Wales and Saints and Sailing ships
