I'm confused, you're not ok with the models being used on copyrighted material but EVERY musician's inspiration is influenced from copyrighted material. But, if it was licensed, you would have a problem with it being prompted. Since it's prompted, it's not real music because it wasn't performed by a human? To me this is the same argument a drummer could have about someone who uses a drum machine. If I use a drum machine, does it mean it's not real beats? The truth is, this is a threat and you should all state that's your concern instead of using other excuses and complaints to mask how you really feel about it. I get it, so does every person who has had a technology take over their careers, but there is not one thing you or anyone else is going to be able to do about it. You can adapt or die, that's how it's going to be. You better believe that every major music labels, is working on or will have similar models to use for themselves and their artists. The other part of the argument goes well beyond "art" and it's the labels' bottom line. It has little to with copyrights, these actions are an attempt to prevent the inevitable future. That future is musicians and non musicians creating quality music using these or similar platforms to compose their own music and being able to monetize that music without the help of a label. The record labels will eventually find a way to use their own versions to create their own music without having to worry about paying artists. I agree, it will probably devalue music in a monetary sense, but if you value the art of music then that shouldn't change and an easy solution, don't listen to AI generated music and continue to write your own and continue to listen to human artists. Best thing you can do is hope for some regulation, embrace it, because it's here to stay and it's only going to get better. Learn to use it as a tool, because while you're over here sulking and crying about it, you're gonna get left behind. At the end of the day, change is here and you better have a plan to adapt to it.

So what’s worse… musicians using a.i art to create imagery/videos for cover albums, promo etc.? Or Graphic designers using a.i music to promote their digital art, animations etc.? I’m against using both because that just produces soulless crap… but in my case being able to use a.i to give imagery to my music has been the key to my channels short success. That has to be the dumbest argument for AI I've ever read. Yes, human musicians are influenced by the music they listen to but it is not nearly the same as AI which can "listen" to billions of tracks in a matter of seconds, while it would take a human literally a thousand lifetimes to do the same. Then the machine can pick and choose fragments from all of those tracks it just listened to and create an original work which is just really tiny pieces of all the original work it trained on, sewn together like humpty dumpty. AI can never create anything truly original or new because it cannot "think" it can only copy really well and really fast, much faster than humans. And this is going to happen with every single creative field in existence and if you don't see a problem with that, you're dumber than your argument.

@@SyncMyMusic Thank you for your suggestion; I will certainly take it into consideration. In fact, I am indeed very interested in AI music and have genuinely spent a lot of time thinking about it. The training of artificial intelligence always carries its original sin, yet music AI does have its unique aspects. The excellent music generated by AI is essentially a reflection of the best human-created music, which is related to the inheritance of music. Any subsequent music can hardly escape the influence of its predecessors. In such a scenario, if someone actually owns the copyrights of the predecessors and subsequently through AI owns the rights to the followers, isn’t that an obviously terrifying prospect? You can probably imagine what it would be like when music corporations use the most advanced AI models and their own copyrights to produce a new album by a virtual Michael Jackson. Music corporations will continue to exploit AI technology to milk people's love for music.

Suno's not history. In fact, I believe it and other models like it will eventually (sooner than later) start replacing DAWs, VSTs, etc. We've seen this natural progression in technology with everything. From records, to 8 tracks, to laser discs, to cassettes, to CDs, to IPODs to digital streaming apps that can play any song you wish in an instant. The thing about the tech age is that it speeds up by the hour. Just look at all the new AI models, applications, and frequent updates being released every day (including AI imaging, video, programming, etc). You don't have to stop doing what you are doing if you are good at what you do. Instead, get a jump on the tech and figure out if there is anything about it that can actually be of use to you as well. Right off the top you would have to say it's an amazing tool to help break writer's block and generate creative ideas for new work or even an existing song you are stuck on now that Suno and others have upload technology to generate ideas off your existing music, riffs, melodies, vocal structures, arrangements, etc. If you feel you don't see any need of any of it, great! But the reality is, AI "everything" is here to stay and naturally our future. Just stay out in front of it if you are a creative artist. Creative and talented artists will always stand out regardless of the tools they use.

Some of the comments from the pro AI people are breath taking. You can tell they have nothing to lose and everything to gain. The way they flip it, to say that we are the entitled ones is enraging. Humans have put more time and energy into their craft than these people could possibly imagine. Do they really think it came so easily for any of us? All we had to do was just listen to some copyrighted music and POOF, we are musicians and artists, composers and producers. It’s delusional and ignorant. But if copyrights fall apart, a world where no one owns anything is not a world they will thrive in. The mentality of some people is to burn our industry to the ground and rule over the ashes. Why not? They had no skin in the game anyway. And when they get bored they can move on to something else. Meanwhile their reckless actions leave a gigantic void of meaning in all of our lives. The people who would do this seem to be allergic to hard work and dedication. It’s deeply concerning at a human level. I strongly believe that humans must put energy and time into their pursuits, not only does that create meaning, but that cost will be rewarded in time. It’s a natural selection process too. It filters people out into roles that they are most dedicated to. For me that was music. For those who want the rewards without expending any of the time or energy, it’s probably something else. They may even be robbing themselves of their true calling, by exchanging their own difficult and ultimately rewarding path for the instant gratification of becoming an “AI composer.” ‘Great things take time and nothing worth doing is easy’. Or, in the AI future, ‘Great things are easy and nothing worth doing takes time.’ Which way forward, humanity?

You know, it's not really about who is "pro" or "anti" AI, it's about reality. Where the delusion and ignorance comes in is actually these videos and comments that think that these lawsuits are going to benefit you. The inability to see the big picture is what is actually breath taking. How is it non-factual to say you feel you're entitled? Your statement, of putting time, energy and efforts into things means that you will be definitively rewarded in time in not factual. One with that mindset feels "entitled" to a reward because they feel their efforts warrant such. I have sympathy for your arguments, but they will eventually fall on deaf ears. I have been a musician for almost 30 years, although not professionally. I enjoy creating music and that won't stop with or without this technology. My main complaints about these comments and videos is the amount of disingenuousness of them. If your primary concern is that you are going to soon be irrelevant, not needed and puts your livelihood at risk, then say that, don't keep masking your true feelings with other BS excuses. Dialogue is healthy guys. When you stay in a group think bubble, you only hurt yourself. We may not always agree on things, but the conversations may open eyes on both sides of the argument that you may not have had. People gotta get out of the mentality that you're owed, you deserve, you want, that's not fair, because it only hurts you. In the real world, that stuff doesn't matter no matter how much you feel it should. It's frustrating I agree, but that's the way it is. All about the Benjamin's and getting more of it for less effort. That is a corporations ultimate goal, more profit for less efforts and less overhead. If you can be replaced to increase profitability, then that's what will happen. As far as copyrights are concerned, I'm on the fence, because the laws weren't written with these concepts in mind. Just because you think it's a violation, doesn't make it true. The songs that were reproduced were done via prompt injections to deceive the model into reproducing an original work. On a normal prompt, I would be willing to bet it wouldn't have produced anything as accurate as the ones Jesse showed or are in the lawsuit. I'm curious to see the defenses arguments on how the model was manipulated with the intent of recreating an original work. As far as training goes, I will stick with my argument that us as musicians train on copyrighted material. We are not born knowing a music style or genre, we learn and train from the one's that we listen to. That's how we have genres. Musicians influenced by styles of others to produce music. Humans doing this forever has not been a problem, all of a sudden machines are learning to do it and it's a problem. If the argument is that it's not fair because machines can do it faster and potentially better, well, these cases should be over quick. There will probably be a compromise, but the little man will not be happy. Like I said before, this is coming whether me, you or anyone else likes it or not. Time to adapt to it, or move on.

Title: "Music Is Dead" Verse 1: Hey, kid, you ask why I never tried to be a star, Let me tell you a tale, from the past not so far. Back in 2024, the giants claimed their ground, Suing AI platforms where creativity was found. Under the guise of rights, they waged a silent war, Protecting artists, they said, as they locked every door. Chorus: Hey, child, the melody once wild, Now tamed and claimed, creativity exiled. Verse 2: By 2026, the giants' grip was sealed, Owning platforms where our fates were digitally revealed. They sold us freedom, as they tightened the noose, With every tool provided, a leash let loose. Promising revolution in every AI-produced beat, Yet binding us silently in terms unseen. Chorus: Hey, child, the melody once wild, Now tamed and claimed, creativity exiled.

Verse 3: The year 2028, a digital resurrection, Icons reborn in AI's perfection. Hendrix on strings, Mercury leads the show, Legends unite, where they never could before. The giants laughed, as classics played anew, Cashing in on love, through every view and cue. Verse 4: Come 2030, every note was under siege, No song left pure, every melody had a leech. The joy of creation, now a distant dream, As copyright claims choked every theme. The giants declared, "All music is ours," As they reaped the profits and raised the bars. Bridge: Now I sing to you, this somber tale, In a world where even lullabies are for sale. Every note I play, every chord I strum, Could bankrupt us by the morning sun. Outro: Hey, kid, as I sing this song with a heavy heart, Remember, "Music Is Dead" was just the start. We lost more than tunes; we lost our voice, In a world where freedom had no choice.

You do realize you're profiting for small views for record labels, who literally are making their own version? They want to cut out competition and license your the melodies. It's a smart business move, but artists don't really win since melodies overlap a lot of times since there's not many to go by with an E key over a syphoned flow that few like and buy from (music can be vast, but selling music tend to sound similar). This could, in turn, turn our music into South Korea, where few actually succeed by design, but in our case, by IP syphoning. If you think about it, you don't lose sales if your music is made by you. You can only lose sales if someone is copying the song and profiting under your name. People buy from the artist, not just the art--otherwise the unsung best music makers underground wouldn't be underground. Clout plays a big role in music. The biggest role, since even people with terrible (MGK) or mediocre (jayz) music can be seen as the best or top tier. by tearing down Suno for shekles, you're basically helping labels tear down you and your ability to be more creative than them for the first time. They have their own AI in the works. So you'll be in a lose-lose scenario as an indie if they choose to "not" make their licensing system public, and literally be like south korean artists, and design their successors.
