Well it's actually super digital. His stuff is just controllers getting the computer to make digital sounds.. How ever the body movements it involves is where the magic happens. This guy is tottally genius!!!!!

The live show is to watching it here as a book is to it's movie . The book is always better. The live show is as well I am sure. It seems to be quite a wild spectacle.

YES. Feeling your whole body vibrating with the bass ripping through the venue is just fucking incredible. I saw him open for Health in DC last month and it was absolutely the best show I've been to in the last 20 years. He played basically his entire new album and it was a dream come true to see him live.

I was telling people that it felt like a real missed opportunity that there wasn't a camera pointed down on his gear with a screen or projector showing it because there's just so much going on that if you're not already a fan, you may not fully grasp exactly what you're seeing, and the way he took music that is normally just a person standing behind a laptop and midi controller and not doing a whole lot, and turned it into a real music experience.

This is Industrial music. Perhaps the most Industrial Industrial music ever as he uses Industrial machines as instruments. I don't know why we need 9 thousand subgenre's for every music style lol. His vocals are metal inspired with some 80's alternative thrown in there but at the end of the day this is Industrial not metal as there are no distorted guitars.

I agree,i heard his music first,thought it was a bit meh..then saw the video,thought this is amazing then saw his band name and thought it wasnt that good on the medium i heard it first on..guess its more of a visual thing..stunning that he makes all this innovative stuff to create/trigger sounds tho...love that aspect of it...

How so? I don't listen to either, because neither compelled me to listen to them. If I found out that a mumble rapper was actually using a highly modified trumpet to "rap" that would also blow my mind and drive me to give them a second chance for similar reasons to the above. If anything, if I like his music purely because of the tools he uses then that would be the ideology that fuels modern hip-hop, which is notoriously image obsessed. By taking both on the merits of their sound rather than the superficial "human story behind the scenes" so to speak we can be honest about our preferences. For the record I never thought Author & Punisher was bad, even before. The music was obviously interesting before, just not interesting in a way I could personally see myself listening to on a daily basis. That's not something I can say for most modern hip-hop.
