There are a few guys, who make things more complicated than necessary. Marine's explanation remains what it is. Spot on and easy to understand. Don't bother with the fools.
This "technique" is as old as the first organ. Jon Lord, being classically trained, knew this. Not "Inverted Fifth", but simply the 3rd and 4th Overtones being played together that create the Fundamental. Simple math: 4-3 = 1. Organ builders knew this hundreds of years ago. BTW, the same Perfect Fouth Intervals are being played by Ritchie Blackmore, on guitar.
@@OnlineRockLessons you probably know by now but an interesting similarity to be enjoyed is Boston s Smokin. (minus the parallel 4ths of course) Tom Scholz = genius.
played DP songs like those on my B3 in the 70's, never knew he used that technique, but in those days, it was hard by ear to pick up, at least for me, thanks for the lesson, always wondered why Lord was LORD !!
Just to let you know, I've heard you promoting IK B3X in a lot of your videos. I've gotten a few organ vst's over the last couple of years but was really wanting to try the IK based on your recommendation. Well, I finally bit the bullet! I waited and waited for the price to come down and it has. IK now offers a 60% discount of the B3X for anyone interested. It's a great software and the best organ vst I own and it's now only $39.99 to own it! :) Thanks Marine. You're an inspiration for us and you play and teach very well. Bob Blais New Hampshire.
Why are you using IK Multimedia B3X instead of the Hammond that is in the background? I think its a Hammond? Either way, the sound you get is wicked good.
If you want to be a better teacher, PLAY the music you're going to teach upfront! You have to give us a frame of reference. I always click off in frustration... :(
@@OnlineRockLessons it seems to be a common theme across all of your videos. I love what you play!!! However, the lessons feel fragmented and confusing. Just my opinion, you can take it on board on or not. :)
the mix of church-sounding organ and the 'heavy' music frit lends itself to sounding say evil or demonic, i didn't research it, but back in the late 60's i was around 9 and i think Deep Purple was too 'heavy' and too into dark symbolism so they didn't get played on general audience radio stations, contrary to say, the more Irish fairy tale types of ProgRock groups, For some reason back then i really wanted a Deep Purple t-shirt but only got a Tequila Sunrise recipe t-shirt, so not as cool looking as a Deep Purple t-shirt. It was common back then for Parents to forbid listening to heay rock in part because it was thought as devil worshiping. Now the 'heavy' groups sure play on the theme of 'we may be kinda devil worshiper' in some cases they take themselves seriously but in other cases it's probably because they like the esthetics of devil worshiping or just Goth and Vampires
in the late 60's Purple were anything but heavy or dark. their first 3 albums were elaborate extended covers of popular tunes of the day ; Beatles, Joe South, Neil Diamond, Phil Spector, etc. some originals and classically oriented compositions. (they were (admittably so) trying to emulate the Vanilla Fudge)
@@christo6765 weren't Deep Purple among the first to use funky fonts on their album covers? wow even Neil Diamond maybe he was more hippy than Beau Crooner in his youth
Hey!! There’s nothing wrong with the XK5 :) The reason I do that is simply to add overdrive and have a midi file for the course. The IK plugin offers different preset of overdrive all made for you in the style of Jon Lord :)
kidding, right? long before this band Jon was going thru music college composing scores, performing etc. Ritchie was reading charts, doing a lot of session work for other artists etc etc etc
@@OnlineRockLessons You’re an Angel Marine 😘. I‘m also using distortion pedals along with Neo Instruments Mini Vent II (Leslie 122 in Preset B) on my Keyboards. Because I don‘t want Jon to be forgotten, So I always paying tribute to him. RIP Jon 😭😖
@@OnlineRockLessons running a hammond through any amp with 12 inch speakers will produce that exact sound. doesnt have to be Marshall. Any cheap amp will do.
