Been studying cinema for a few years. One thing I’ve noticed is that cinematographers never really blur out the background unless they are super punched in on a tight shot, I’d say 90 mm and up. M43 is super underrated
i admit, i love those lenses. i really love 35-100mm. I tried my friend's 12-35mm and Olympus 12-40mm. But then came PL12-60mm in my GH5ii package. That lens is do it all lens for me. The F.2.8 is not a much different than my PL12-60mm for lowlight. But a longer focal length of 60mm keeps me away from to have 12-35mm or 12-40mm. That PL12-60mm is my one lens solution for my run and gun news coverage, social media and others. For a little of bokeh i could shoot at 50 or 60mm. But for real bokeh, lowlight and static interviews, i rely on Sigma's 16mm and 56mm lens. and for long range i have Lumix 100-300mm. Just bought 7 Artisan 35mm f0.95 and it sure gives me a full-frame look on my GH5ii. I had other MFT lenses but sold them due to redundancy or just not practical to my style and i always bring all my lenses with me, so i like to keep my lenses minimal to carry around. i guess some people have found other lenses that fit their needs for mft. We are spoiled with good used lenses yet affordable in MFT eco-system. Let alone with Canon lenses or Sigma or Nikon and speedbooster.
Photographers are - to a large extent - flock animals. And insecure ones at that. So when a siren calls, they will follow. Which is why we now have "influencer marketing" instead of billboards. So fashion develops without much in the way of relevant facts to back it up - rather like fashion from Paris. IMHO this is the mechanism that leaves great products in the dust in the race for conformity. Thank you for being a voice of reason!

I think acquiring gear and coming to the realization that at some point more gear won't help tell better stories (in fact may even hinder) is the natural process of a creator - one of those things you just have to learn the hard way.
