Ult is a lot less fun to play for me, which sucks because I love the roster additions. The game is too mashy and I find it hilarious that sometimes it feels like a character's non-killing dash grab is their laggiest move, and not any of their killing aerials, tilts, specials, or smash attacks lol. Online sucks without separate rulesets like For Fun and For Glory. GSP is fake as hell as a ranking system, and only encourages players to abuse online or to one win dip everyone in order to maintain it, both of which make it way more frustrating to grind matchups or have grind sessions against good players that you just happen to run into. I played mostly online in both games, and played Smash 4 until early 2021 (didn't have a Switch at the time). In early 2021 the remaining player base got Thanos snapped and those who still played were somehow even more hyper defensive players than before with the same old painfully online only playstyles. I got a Switch around that time, and Ultimate was just next level frustrating from day 1 lol and as a Joker main I had to play double catchup since he was a meta-relevant character. I find it extremely hard to enjoy playing Ult, and only play it so often because Smash is just a habit at this point. If I could still play Smash 4 with the same player base it had for a few years after Ult came out, I would've gone back a loooong time ago
