In general... I agree with your IEMs outshine earbuds opinion. That being said, I use earbuds whilst riding my bicycle or motorcycle, as they don't completely isolate you from the outside world, which allows you to hear oncoming traffic, etc... Important safety point, I only listen to music when I'm out in the boonies or mountains, on backroads with little to no traffic - never in heavy traffic or on busy streets... so I've never had a problem to date...!!!Earbuds make for a great ride...!!!
I cannot wear an iem for a prolonged period of time. Its just not comfortable. As a student that sits in front of a computer for hours on end. Having to shove an iem in my ear and wearing it for hours never made sense. Which is why I end up using apple earpods most of the time. This is great news for me.
Eb2s clan represent! Timmy needs to try them if he didn't think all of those features were doable cheaply. 25ish bucks for whatever color or plug style you want, all metal build, nice cable, and they sound 90-95% as good as my fiio ff3
As I flathead noob, I personally I find flatheads to provide a much less in-your-head soundstage compared to IEM, kind of like an inbetween of an IEM and a headphone, which can be pretty envoloping. The foam, like tips for IEMs, can quite noticably change the sound signature depending on what's used (thicker, thinner, double, donut). Agreed on comfort, although I had to get used to the foam tickling my my ears and causing them to itch when I first started trying flatheads. Personally I've only owned TGXear flatheads, love the Serratus, didn't really like the Tantalus, have a Sunniva on the way, but I generally find that they outperform IEMs in their price range. $600 set? Venture Electronic Sun copper?
I have the black Serratus being delivered next week. Do you recommend the ear wings to hold them in? I’m worried about them constantly falling out every time I move
Honestly Faaeal makes some great earbuds for a pretty good price. I find that the faaeal rosemary sounds better than iems in its price bracket (I have on compaired them to moondrop chu and aria snow).
in my Earbuds collection, I have Yuin PK2, VE Monk Plus, Monk SM and Earpods. Yes, I'm not mistyped, Earpods is still in my collection. Daily basis, I use Monk Plus after I use IEM or Headphone for some time, Monk plus may sound muffled at first, but after you adjust to it, it not that bad for 5 USD earbuds. I just throw it away and buy a new one if it broken. Earpods I like it Microphone that very clear and sound nice in conversation. Not the best sounding but compare to Monk plus the detail is far better, I use sometimes and still amaze how good the detail for it price ( i use it for gaming sometimes, not joking)
I am and still wondering do all of you wear earbud just hanging/sitting on the bottom of your inner ear loops or are them sitted fit and snug in tight at where it suppose to be, I am asking this because my ears are not the regular shape ears. I always want to love earbuds. I have the faeeal something and VE monk something but I never pick them up.
For the ones who own the original Earpods there is a mod that makes them sound fantastic. It is something very simple: try using them with the foams we usually use for flat-head earbuds. Despite being a semi / half in ear design (different from flat-heads in this regard), good foams will fit them well. The interesting thing is what they do to the sound: first they will tame the treble upper mids, which are more forward and fatiguing by default in the Earpods. Secondly: although earfoams do not provide the same amount of seal as silicon tips (for in ears), they will at least provide the sufficient amount of isolation between the earbuds and your concha. This will considerably improve the bass... Again, it is not the same amount of bass from a silicon tip, but it is very much substantial to make a good difference.
@@DarenLee Earbuds not supposed to snug fit all the time like iem. The design is loose hang with your ears, all you have to do is; wear it, adjust the angle of it speaker straight to your hearing You can use foam that included in every earbuds package, not just improve the sound but also it fit as well.
Guys guys! Can you recommend me a flathead in the 100 dollar side? Such as VE Asura and Dunu Alpha 3,? Have you guys tried something cool in that price?
@@sasakijung that’s a turn off if just hanging loose because when we move our head surely the sound sonic would change right? Hey thanks for your kind reply. :)
Nicehck eb2s. I loooove them, all of $25. I use them all the time. Soundstage, musical, balanced, detailed, they're solid metal... I use them when I need to be able to hear what's going on around me. They're nice when my ear canals get tired of iems after hours. They're so fast to pop out with the microphone for a call or meeting. And the eb2s are super well built. I have 4 pairs because their colors are gorgeous, all of them are bulletproof. Try them! I think Timmy needs to start trying earbuds, because there are a lot of great ones. There's also the gorgeous fiio ff3 with this tuning and price.
Did you use any venture electronics? I have the monk and I eq them a bit (highs are a bit hot and the need some 2k to create more clear sound). But other than that they are superb… I would compare them to hd600, just a bit brighter. My best invested 25€.
It recommended by 1 of my China friend. He said it's well competitive with some thousand RMB earbuds. Then I just blind buy from Lazada MY (China Seller)😂 And the result is, insanely nice & match with my music preference just because I'm more focus in vocal so the little bass just fine for me😂
Perceiving the surround is the most interesting point to me at work. I got the TGX Serratus some weeks ago, I'm disappointed tbh. The driver rattles/distort with electronic music with a lot of sub-bass and the treble is too boosted for my taste. Hoping this DUNU will fare better.
Timmy may be critical of earbuds, but that's the reason why the few from the price range he listed is far too few. so if he's impressed by this one, it means there are better ones. FiiO EM5 is $450 I think, which I don't believe he tried as he went from $300 to $600. It should blow this out of the water. There's also Serratus and a bunch of earbuds in between. The complaints about going too warm for this dunu bud just tells me the old earbuds he tried were just expensive and bad. If you are interested in earbuds, you gotta read impressions by earbud collectors. There are quite a few in the hobby who have tried many totl IEMs and earbuds.

Your qualms with Earbud reminds me of the Final Audio Piano Forte Series. Luckily it was a product from way back then before open review of audio stuff became this mainstream so it avoided a whole lot of roasting that it would certainly have today. It was one of the biggest make-believe I have ever encountered during my time spent with the Audio Hobby. If you have bothered to look it up and doubt what you're reading... then yes, it looks like it needed someone to put a ear-tip on but somehow you don't, you DO just sit them as it is outside your ear canal, without any ear-tips as the sound "flows freely around" straight from the earphone's butt-naked stem. It's like a earbud except it's way worse, it's hella hefty in weight and price and probably thanks to the way you wear them it has some of the spiciest, splashy treble that you can literally hear them smearing around and getting the whole imaging a heck of a mess with literally no bass to be heard, years later today it still remains as the #1 spot for Overpriced Portable Audio Junk in my own ranking list 😌
correct me if im wrong, does Timmy ever review NiceHCK products? i barely see anyone mention it, thats why i wonder how does this earbuds compared with what most people recommend to me which is NiceHCK EB2S Pro for around $25 and it tuned differently
First FiiO, and now Dunu is releasing new earbuds... This is great. More companies should follow, we could see great improvements if earbuds received the same development as IEMs
@@user-rr6qv6hq3h Both versions. I thought they both sounded good (I had the round ones from the original ipod days, a well as the earbuds that came with the iphone through iphone 6/7).
literally have been looking for something that lets me hear what the hell is going on around me and i dont like wearing headphone and my wife doesn't want to hear my games so i cant use my speakers lol. This might just fit the bill and I'll buy a pair, thanks!
Well Timmy clearly you are not up to date nor families with earbuds , as of today for the same price asked you can had just as good a set of earbuds as a set of IEMs , but they will be different and they will sound different even if tuned similar , by their nature of construction and how they sit on the ear and not inside the ear canal made them unique , in comfort , ergonomics and sound Actually by virtue of them usually having way larger DD they actually and mostly had quality bass but they are not going to be the boom box style bass a good set of earbuds generally had some advantage over equal quality IEM in some area of the sonic reproduction and it's the same the other way round, one just had to realize one size do not fit all and I enjoy them , all
Most people I know who like earbuds prefer them because performance/price ratio is higher than IEMs and over ears. It is nice to hear you review these Dunu's though. Although if you like them so much I would suggest going back to some of your other earbuds and retrying them. Maybe you're just getting tired of IEMs!
Personally I completely disagree on comfort, no earbud has been comfortable for more than 15 minutes, and after 30 minutes it becomes unbearable. A comfortable IEM I can get a couple hours of use before I have to take them out.
It depends of what kind of earbuds you are talking about. If you mean flathead earbuds I agree. Don't like them too. But if we take Earpods then I disagree. Because Earpods are most comfortable of all types of headphones and earbuds.
Bro this review is just trash.. Earbud are better in sound quality over iem interm of price to performance ratio.. Just buy a Vido 2o22 version 5 usd buds and compare them to a 5o to 1oo usd iem..
